My current favourite guitar. Yamaha AEX 500 hybrid. Lovely piezo 3 band eq and mini bucker. Everything from sparkling highs to jazz box lows. Strung with nickelwounds 12's. Use it with my Trace acoustic amp.
5.
Somebody sent me details of this forum/site when I was looking for something specific. Some really nice gear available. https://www.zikinf.c...liste.php?rub=7 Edit: DON'T LOOK!!! I will not be held responsible for your GAS when you see what's available here. I'm having GAS issues and I really don't need anything!
Yeah thanks! I can't unsee this now.... https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/dispannonce.php?annonce=1447254 Brother in law lives nearby...
6. Just to add that it's very well put together, and the reason why I commissioned a Paul Rose travel bass. In fact this lovely bass has a lot to answer for 😁 Glwts
7.
This is what it looked like when new: http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/h4ppyjack/library/Basses%20SOLD/Prosebass%20Custom%20V%202008%20SOLD
That's what it looked like when I bought it from you HJ, and how it looked when passed on to "lowregisterhead" ... I believe he was going to mod it. Such a pretty bass.
8. Saw him at Salisbury a few years ago. Really enjoyed it, very relaxed & fun evening.
9.
I like that! Sounds almost foreign, inspired from a far flung land. Or just out of your hunger haha. I have some noodles I need to record.
I was hungry, & I picked up the bass to distract myself...so the idea did develop, but all you could hear is my other half coming in & out of the kitchen chatting about something or another, hence the short recording. TBH I'm now more worried that I've agreed to something when I wasn't paying attention...again 🙄
10. 😁😇 OK, no more tapping... seeing as you asked so nicely.
11. OK so very short noodle whilst waiting for dinner last night, think I'll build this idea and share with more videos as it develops (unless someone pays the ransom ....and I'll stop) 😁 Recorded with my phone sat in top of my practice and...hi tech..i know. http://youtu.be/XgfwB1lj1CE
12. Oh Great! Just when I thought I'd got all the bass I'll ever need..... All the bass I'd ever need comes along. 😛 That is perfect....glwts
13. I owned this once, when it had passive electronics. The neck was beautiful, and the reason why I bought a lakland P 4 string straight after selling it when I stopped using 5'ers. The body is very pretty too. GLWTS
14. my favourite 6 string bass. Wide tonal palette, flat (shallow) profile neck was perfect for my playing style. Sold mine ridiculously cheaply, regretted ever since. Little bit jealous 😊
15. You're too far from Bath, otherwise the combo would be mine. I'd imagine courier cost would be silly money. You don't ever come this way M? John
16. where are you located? Great combos these
17.
Yep, went in on Monday and spent money. Nice chaps, dangerous having that so close to the office!!
Haha, same here. I've warned domestic management 😁 Made me laugh that I only noticed it when I was walking to V&R to drool over a YOB P bass they had in, and heard this loud telecaster twang coming from the other side of the street...and it's on Quiet Street....
18. For those who live in and around Bath, Vintage & Rare are no longer the only game in town. http://www.guitarbitz.com/about-us-i1 Early days, so only a few MIM & USA fenders, but they'll match their on line prices, and decent stock of strings.
19.
I've replaced quite a few 'over playing' bass players in my time. Guys who think that, just because the guitarist gets a solo on every song, that they should too. Or bassists that like to show off their incredible slap technique, on a Johnny Cash song. I can play roots and fifths all day long, if that's what the song needs. I know this is an amusing cartoon of a drummer but the same thing applies in the case of bass players too.
Good post. My personal view is that playing a "simple" bass line, repetitively, in time, with consistent tone & volume, tastefully, with feel & dynamics, takes discipline and concentration......often without being noticed. But as others have said, "serving the song" might involve consistently double hand tapping complex arpeggios at high speed throughout the song/set.
20. Quite agree Chris & Tom about the hook. Most hooks are a simple, but effective device, to either catch or hang something on. But then I like most things in life simple...makes the more complicated/challenging aspects more memorable. Yes I'm weird....
21. Sounds like Kat thinks playing in a band isn't a competition
22. sounds like Kat serves the song.
23. Very pretty. 😎
