2. Sold Emptying my old bits box and found: 3 full sets of strings, and I think a 5 string set with one string missing...or it's a mahoosive E string? Anyway I'll chuck those 4 strings in too. 1 set of flats and 1 set of rounds (nickels I think?) Cut for 2+2 headstock 1 set of rounds (not sure if nickel?) Cut for 4 in a row. I've no idea of the make, but I don't keep strings on basses for long and so they're not grimy or rusty, I also clean strings after each time they're rehearsed or gigged. Might suit someone who wants to try some different strings including flats. £15 the lot, posted to your door.
  3. Bought some strings from Paul. Stupidly quick delivery, he must have a teleporter or summat! Anyway top chap, deal with confidence. Thanks, John
  4.
Experts have modified this instrument over the years in order, no doubt, to further improve tonal quality. Sounds like our old friend is up to his old tricks again!
Hahaha :-)
  5. "Fortunately, the 3 knobs that control the level of crackle still work very well and produce a delightful "crrr crrr crrr" noise as you rotate the knobs." & "the inclusion of several pieces of "nut paper" on two of the strings" Brilliant :-)

  14. Had the combo version and the amp head. Lots of power, incredibly flexible eq system and the 2nd channel is great for double bass. Bomb proof too! Proper "man" amp :-) Glwts
  15. Man that's so pretty! Love Paul's understated work, I've had a couple of custom Prose and if this was 34" scale I'd have it for that money. Glwts
  16.
Have you PM'd the people who've not reciprocated ? It may be they just need reminding.
This. A friendly reminder via pm is usually all that's needed. I have forgotten sometimes to leave feedback, and others have forgotten to leave feedback for me. (I'm quite relieved about the latter.... 4 pages are quite enough)
  17.
Rick 4001. When I first started paying attention to the actual instruments I realised most of my heroes at the time (Lemmy, Geddy Lee, Bruce Foxton etc) played Ricks & got the sort of agressive, bright tone I liked - and they looked cool as f*ck.
Same! Late 70s went to music shop to buy one, having talked to them about finance scheme before hand on phone. Got handed the coolest looking red 4001 by the assistant, and ...... was so disappointed, just couldn't get on with it. Just remember leaving depressed, GAS not slaked.
