Dorset and Somerset Bass Bash 2014: Post Event Critique
oldslapper replied to yorks5stringer's topic in Events
Obviously I looked very different to those who saw me next year due to my regeneration, hope that did not cause any confusion me now being female and left handed...?
At least the dress makes sense this time around..... :-) -
It was nice to meet everyone who came to the Gallifrey bassbash next year.
Looking forward to having met you for the first time again. -

Bought a bass from Ash...again :-) No problems, great communication throughout and bass arrived safe and sound, exactly how described. Thanks! John

Bought this CMI P bass as a stop gap as I don't currently own a bass (NBD today hopefully). It's probably from the 1970's and (as far as I know) has all the original hardware. The body is ply, I'm pretty sure. It was in a pretty bad state when I bought it, but I cleaned it as best I could, put a newer bridge on as I prefer individual saddle adjustment. But original Brass saddled bridge will come with it. It's an old used bass, and has marks and scratches on it. But nothing structural. Sounds like a P bass should, albeit a little lower in output than previous MIJ Fender Ps I've owned. But its a sweet little bass, with a slim neck, not at all baseball bat chunky P profile. When setting it up, I found the truss rod was really stiff, probably through age, so I didn't want to try moving it anymore. As a result the action is slightly higher than I would normally have, but I have a light touch, so its fine if you like to "dig in" as I hear some of you say. I shimmed the neck with a business card to help lower the action. I've used it at home as something to noodle on. If I were to keep it and use it, I'd probably swap the machineheads out. Anyway, might suit as a backup, or project, or parts, or first instrument, or something to leave at work, or as none of these things. Could ship for a bit more, say £80.

I do many stupid things on a daily basis, and selling my Wilkes bass was one of those times. Really well made, great hardware, lovely neck and Doug was brilliant at giving information about the guitar, even though I wasn't the original owner. I got the impression that he really cared about his guitars. Buy from Ash with confidence too, top bloke!
Ill pencil it in and hope to be there again. Last year was cool. Any options for a guest speaker? A
The mods you carried out on those basses were fantastic, real pleasure to play. Shame I can't make the bash this year. -
I think that's my old bass that I've wanted back desperately for years. If its not its bloomin similar. Amazing price too. Sadly it may as well be £3000 to me as I'm utterly broke Typical Then again there's a couple of gigs coming up, maybe I'll get lucky !
I'll wait for your 2 gigs for £3000! :-) I'll post this for £300 if anyone's desperate.

SOLD Clear out continues. I've decided that having strings on a bass is overrated. Loads of different strings (sets mostly) I cannot remember what make, or gauge they all are as most have come off basses I've bought as I always chuck my preferred strings on. There is included a brand new unused DR B string, again I cannot identify the garage. For £25 posted they may suit someone who wants to experiment with strings, or breaks a lot of strings....I don't know. They're all usable, nothing rusty or crappy.

Decided that playing in tune is overrated, so offering this up for sale. It's working, as can be seen and has mute function, which has been helpful. Rocktron xtuner. £15 posted Can add a 9 volt power supply for extra £5
