+1 for the Laney Digbeth Pre. I haven't tried dozens of preamps in my life but, I can definitely recommend this. The tube (simulation) is really really good, warm and well balanced sonically and has its own volume. The FET channel is clear and dynamically rich. The MUTE switch can be used as BYPASS as well. The TILT knob (seesaw lo-pass/hi-pass EQ) is musical and, probably one the most important thing for me, it has a 4-band EQ and the lo-mid have a 3-way switch that set the freq and Q-point (kind of semi-parametric). Also, it has a SEND and a RETURN. There's a thread here on BC where the pedal is discussed in great detail that contains measurements/graphs and demo-files from BC users.

An interesting collaboration between Sly&Robbie and Howie B. The whole album deserves!

Yeah man, 100%! There's also another good one on YT of Sly&Robbie playing with Nils Petter Molvaer, Eivind Aarset and Vladislav Delay, it's a Boiler Room video. That is pretty good too, worth checking it out!

On BBC iPlayer 2 Tone: The Sound of Coventry: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00105h9 -
Never played one, but I was interested too. Yes, it is a Fender style instrument, but with its own personality though, not a straight clone. Price and build quality seem to be pretty good. Nice that it is active/passive and has 3 band eq. Here's a nice demo

ok, I see. it seems they have added a Quilted Maple top, but the rest is the same.

Best lightweight head and cabs for Reggae?
mario_buoninfante replied to Marcus Cornall's topic in Amps and Cabs
One thing I think is often omitted is that when it comes to "70s-early 80s" reggae and dub, a lot of the time the bass was recorded straight into the mixing desk, no amp head/cabinet involved. Just something to keep in mind when thinking about the reggae/dub bass sound. -
