Sure I have GAS for a couple of unreachable stars (Wal 5-string, '65 Jazz) but realistically they will never happen and I know it. In the real world, I have everything I need. One thing that would be handy is a small lightweight 500+ watt 8 ohm cab, so I can run my amp at lower levels. (But not too small or it'll sound like an iPhone, apparently. 🙄) But that's not a need or even a really-want.

Is it silly that I'm getting really excited the closer the BFSWBB gets? Seeing some familiar faces, meeting some new ones, the fantastic looking kit list (and this year I feel like I've finally got something worth showing too!). I feel like a kid in the run-up to Xmas.

I'd also like Fender to release the 80s Performer bass again, albeit slightly updated with wider string spacing (and perhaps a different headstock). This and the aforementioned Beck bass are the only two Fenders that I would seriously consider buying.

I wanted one of those. So I bought a Shuttle 9.2 and a Barefaced Super 12T. Now I have a super powerful bass amp that barely requires any effort at all to move from home-car-venue and back again.

It's as good a year as any. It was halfway through my personal favourite decade. I was 20 that year.

Aww, grand. I don't like pointy basses as a rule, but there's something about the Explorer shape that I really like. I wish I'd bought an Aria ZZB back when they were dirt cheap.

I use Elixir nickels on everything. I like a reasonably bright tone with a bit of snap, and with Elixirs lasting as long as they do, this means I only have to replace them every 18 months or so. So with two working basses, one of which is a five, this means my string expenditure is effectively about £5 a month.
