3.
Where / what is the subliminal message?
Well I didn't expect "everyone" to get it. Imagine what a world it would be if we were all that clever, aye?
 4. The bass in this clip is a Dingwall ABZ 5 and the video says it all
 5. Best fretless I have tried recently was a Cort Curbow totally reccommended with a Bartolini pickup!! And ebanol fingerboard. http://www.imuso.co.uk/Bass-Guitars/7649-/...e=googleproduct check it out
 6. I can't stand Oasis, wouldn't do it for love nor money, but that's just me. Best thing that happened to them was when they broke up. I dread the day when they run out of cash and decide to reform. But then again that is just me...
 7. Does that mean his Fender endorsement is out of the window now, or does Fender also own Washburn?

 9. I have two of them on my Moo Jazz Bass, and I particuarly chose them because being stacked they eliminate the hum and buzz common with Jazz single coils, they have a very accurate vintage sound and yes you can slap them and they will hit you back with a great big mallet. One word of advice keep them screwed in away as possible from the strings as they are p'haps a lil' too powerful. The good thing about these is that if you fit a push pull switch to each volume you can have the option of wiring them in both series and parallel as each of them comes with 4 conductors, I didn't bother with it as I wanted to retain the original Jazz sound without the series option. 10. If I am ordering a bass from the manufacturer and I've got a chance to choose, then I will choose a red colour. I like red to the max! If I am buying used or from a shop stock a bass which I really really want, I'll take whatever colour they have as long as its not a dark sparkly green which I find revolting, in fact the only green I can stomach is seafoam green or mint green.
 11.
At the end of the day it's 30w, it can only ever get so loud. To me, home practice levels means the air pressure in my ears increases so much that I feel like I'm in 0 gravity. And the fact is that you can most definatly get something that is, a lot louder(bigger in sound, whatever) more practical, more road resistant and probably lighter, with it in my opinion sounding just as good. Ok so I do like the sound of an all tube head but in real world terms the suitable nuances of all tube amps don't make much difference in a band mix. Does look cool though.
My two other amps are both 500W Class D one is a Mark Bass Combo CMD102P 2 x 10" to which I have swapped the head with a tube one so its tube preamp / transistor power amp and an Ibanez Promethean 500W all trans. They are both extremely loud when connected to larger cabs. But neither of these give you that goosepimple effect than this Ashdown when you plug a bass in, Ashdown has got this so right that it has spoiled the way I hear the other two. The Mark Bass is the muzz nuts and the Promethean is dodle to carry about but I am now so attached to this Ashdown that at the cost of breaking my back I am carrying it around to every gig and rehersal, and remember it's got an XLR balanced output, you can connect it to a PA or mike it up if you need. However as I have found out this can cope well with small to middle size gigs, so far I played it at a private function in a club in Surrey Quays packed with over 150 Sweedish revellers, with just the bass and the amp, 2 guitars, electronic drum kit, keyboard and 2 singers and everyone could hear me fine including myself.
 12.
Didn't the OP just rattle on about how loud this thing is?
Rattle on? I didn't rattle on at all. I said it is loud for a 30W, thats all
 13.
If I do end up buying new I'm either going all black or blue with black scratchplate. Wazoo, you really are an angry young man!
I'm not being funny but I gave the guy a sound medical advice, if he sticks his watch up his "you know what", he won't have worry about constipation anymore, he'll be as regular as... ..... clockwork
 14. Try an all tube amp, that'll do it!
 15.
It's not white and red is a horrible colour for a bass. BUT, that looks utterly magnificent! It's also the only bass that looks ace in red sparkle, especially with the maple board. Gorgeous!! (too many strings though ) Off your auction. Question & Answer Q: would you possbibly be interested in trading in towards a Ritter Roya 5string Fretless, brand new, plus cash? The bass is brand new. Did cost EUR 5970 and I would let it go for EUR 4995. I would be willing to accept the full price you paid originally for your bass. Let me know. My email: ******@web.de 17-Nov-10 A: No.
That's nothing, some other tw@t off talkbass offered me a vintage collector watch as a swap! I told him where to get off too, and I also drew him a picture showing where he can place his poxy watch, and that was not on his wrist!
 16. I am selling a brand new Big Al 5 SSS if you want to upscale to five strings, its in mint conditions as are all my basses. you can see it here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=STRK:MESELX:IT
 17. Tried one the other day in a shop and I was well impressed, this was a fretless though, maybe the battery is knackered, the slap switch is a cack name for it, I agree but it does boosts the highs / mids when activated so if yours don't do much check the battery first.
 18.
Excuse me? I do not like the PB neck profile but accept and respect that many other musicians do. That is my experience and I am by no means unique in that. Having a different experience to your own certainly does not equate to "tosh"...
Sometimes words are spent very cheap in fora like this, just don't take it to heart, let it fly over your head.
 19. My whole life I have been torn between the two, I resolved that by getting one of each, so now depending on the mood, one week I dig the J and another week the P, I am also getting a P/J to see if that can marry the two into one do-it-all bass.
 20. Yeah I know what you are saying and I agree that the price might be unaccessible to some, but I am always moving a lot of gear and I have got a nice float of savings, certaing things might be expensive but if you can afford it they are worth it. For example the cab comes with a high quality speaker, http://professional.celestion.com/bass/pdf/BL15-400X8.pdf best money can buy for the amp, all the valves settings are ceramic, so none of the cheap plastic you get with Mesa or other expensive brands, the components are all first class, everything is hand made and I have seen it with my own eyes at the factory, so in a way you pay for quality and this amp has the lot.
 21.
hi how much is the bass
yeah I had one, click on my signature line to view it, mine was a double Humbuckers 5 strings with a piezo pickup, I've just sold it to a bloke in Germany. Very nice bass, extremely touch sensitive and dynamic, great ergonomics, debatable marmite looks but on stage no one would have the balls to argue with you when you played it. Here are a few prices from the distributors http://www.musicmanuk.co.uk/stock_bongo4.htm
 22.
Not sure if anyone has seen this pic that Ashdown have seeded on Facebook. No info, just the pic, so what is it going to be? Some suggest a Fliptop. I'm guessing valve as per the LB due to the red cab grill as per the LB cab.. hmmm
You can find out more about this amp here: I've just bought it last Monday. 23.
One of my pet wants is an original B15. A reissue would be a second, and I thought this would be a poor third. Since your description I would love to put in a order. It is very nice and from your description of the sound it would be perfect for the Motown band I'm in. Flat wounds an'all. Jealous. Is it 30W? Being No.2 means you have a good investment too.
It is 30W, but you believe me, it is LOUD so loud in fact that compared to my Mark Bass 500W and my Ibanez Promethean 500W combo's played on medium volume, these sound quieter than the Ashodwn Drophead, I can't figure out why, but for the last few days I have been shaking my head in disbelief as to how loud this amp is! I will be playing it at a gig tomorrow for the first time in a Sweedish Seamen's and Women Club (my hope is on many more of the female than the male ones) near Surrey Docks, and having been to our usual practice garage-come-room, which is heavily soundproofed, I have felt so much punch from it than what I normally get from the other 2 combos so far. It's weird. more like 400W than 30W I tell ya!! I dread to think how loud will the 100W one that they will do when they go in full production. By the way Ashdown said these will retail at £1299. and... hush hush..., give the Bass Gallery in Camdem a ring for a much better quote, mom's the word.
 24.
I just can't get a decent sound out of them that I like. Very muddy sounding. Things got better when I stuck a Line 6 X3 live in front of them - but, on their own, I just hate 'em. ........... Anyone got any advice?
There is something wrong with this statement , anyone who finds Mark Bass amps to be bad needs their ear checked, you probably have been exposed to too many years of bad amplification that has warped or tainted your appreciation of what is good as opposed to bad. No offence intended by the way, in my 36 years of playing I have had many decent bass amps from really expensive to cheap as chips, Gallien Kruger, Laney, Mesa Boogie, Trace Elliot, Line 6, Crate, Ibanez, Ashdown etc etc, each have their own way of adding a forced colour, let's call it "trendy tonality" to the sound to please either a rock player or a blues player or else. What makes Mark Bass different is the fact they they manage to amplify a bass in total transparency and if you don't like what you hear then your bass is wrong, simple as that. I mean it. If you try one of the newest tube driven Mark Bass you will find you don't even need a compressor to propel your "frequencies" evenly. the full tranny Class D ones can benefit from the use of a decent compressor to be able to give you a more direct thump rather than disperse the sound according to the venue in which it is being played. The other thing you must ask yourself is do I need a monitor type of amp, connected to the mixing board for larger volume, or do I need a large size stack like an 8 by 10" speakers? No good having a single 1 x 15 or a 2 x 12" if you are playing a large club, you need more than that to really shift a sound that will cut through guitars, keyboards, drummers and singers. I hope I didn't come across too cocky, it wasn't my intention.
 25. Drill away, don't worry, worst case scenario wood is the easiest thing to work with, if you mess up you can always glue small wood stakes to fill the holes and redrill again and you can even patch up the vinyl cover in drastic situations, some people can make them to look like new and never lose value on it, just make sure that where you drill you don't foul with wirings, reflex ports or even the speakers. Measure the cabinet thickness and make sure you buy screws to match, so that they don't stick out from the inside. Self tapping screws help but any proper wood screw will do,
