I am not a fan of boutique basses made out of burled exotic woods. I tend to favour swamp ash or mahogany for the body, a solid maple neck & maple fingerboard does me nice, and none of that birds eye, or roasted tiger striped malarky either, thankyouverymuch! Let's get real, is what I say
they are Duncan STK J1 pickups. Fantastic sounding pickups with a lovely slap to them
Oh yes!! I had a pair of them in the moo-moo jazz I've just sold on ebay. They have, in my opinion the best vintage accurate sound of any other aftermarket jazz pickups, and I've tried the lot, from Bartoloni's to Lollar and anything in between. That Seymour Duncan sure is a clever so and so. The STK J1's comes with 4 conductor wires meaning that you could have each of them wired in either seires or parallel, of course to do that you would need either mini toggle switches or a stealth solution would be to have push-pull volume knobs to switch between series and parallel. When you have both pickups in series the sound is VERY powerful and kickass!
Well I finally got my hands my new toy on friday and here she is (I'm not much of a photographer) I just cant get over how easy this bass is to play. My other bass is an Ibanez sr500 which is nice to play buit this is just superb. Its in a completely different class. I love it
I know (I can see... more like) that the pickups are Duncans, do you know exactly which models are they? Bass loks a good'n, supercongrats!
It's getting exciting
Tell me about it, it went for £310 in the end and that is just a little bit more than what I had been asking here in the for sale section (£299) so after all it was a nice result, yay!! Onto next project now. I have no idea what I want to buy and mod next, any suggestions?

Oh wow... there's still a lot of interest in it! 897 page views and 131 people watching it! Never had an item on ebay with so many watchers lol, perhaps its just people's curiosity to see how much it'll fetch. Can anyone take a guess and predict how much it will go for? I haven't got a clue. Presently higher bid is £165 Going..... Going........ ??
Can't do butter all about it? Hope nobody's gonna beef about the p&p too much. Have a butter bump
I did say if they collect they don't pay sweet fa! (how's that for a rhyme?) But I took the box to ye olde post office and they said that for anywhere in uk, insured up to £300 will cost £30 to send and £90 for Europe that is for both insured, trackable and to be signed for. I.E. taking no risks at all. I am not making these charges up so please don't think for a moment I am beefing it up, then again, if you know of a cheaper, but at the same time safe, guaranteed up to the value and trackable way of sending a parcel which measures as follows: 1.35 x 0.52 x 0.16 and weighs 8.67Kg. please do let me know, ta!
A 'P' Bass Fanned Fret !!! It would have to be a reverse P pickup to sound right, has a certain Bearded Gentleman been pushing for a distressed Salmon pink double reverse P Bass per-chance
I have actually asked Sheldon in his forum if he would be possible for him to fit the P-Bass pickup in the inverted position and this was his reply:
Sheldon are you of the Church of inverted P-bass pickup

I am on all of our pickups except the SJP. The reason being that when reversing them on a fanned-fret they get really spread out to the point of cutting through the pickguard. This in itself wouldn't be so bad except that we want a universal rout under the pickguard so that people have the option of switching out at a later date.
Yes sorry guys, the postage cost is not down to me, mainland uk its £30 and to any other European destinations turns into £90, I can't do bu**er all about that. Of course if the winner is close by and willing to collect it from London, Greenwich area, I will refund the UK postage cost of £30, and bob's your uncle

if anything the body reminds me of a Vigier Passion bass

The more the merrier, it's a great concept and it's only fair other manufacturers are expanding on this design with their own versions.

And as for the S.U.B. I don't thinks it's accurate to compare them with MIM Fender, after all the SUBs were all being built in the Sain Louis Obispo factory, without fancy lacquering and trimmings, same pickups and EBMM preamps. To this date no one knows what goes into a MIM Fender, so it's incorrect to compare SUBs to MIM.

Well said all of you's in the last 3 or 4 posts! And thanks for not making me feel like I am the only one that believes that theory.
