Slow, fractile browsing anyone else experiencing this?
Grand Wazoo replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Site News
The simple fact that it is not slow for everyone means it is not a server load issue. It could be a routing issue between your section of the ISP and the BC data centre. Hard to actually do anything about - how long has it been an issue ?
about 4 - 6 days including today -
Try another browser (Chrome/Firefox etc), does problem still occur ? Also what speed connection are you on, is it going through a wireless or 3G link ? Are any other sites slow ? It's super quick for me.
I have a Virgin optic fiber top of the range fast broadband 50K not wireless, not 3G, no similar issue with other websites / forum, as I have mentioned in the original post, I only get this with BC. Either on firefox, safari ie, please note I am not the only one, someone else said they are having the same issue. -
As I prefer maple fretboard to rosewood I have got myself a nice Mighty Might maple neck, and had a few coats of ageing stain sprayed on it, I sourced a set of Fender Vintage reverse tuners, the back plate and the string tree round thingie, I am now just waiting for the bushing that go around the tuning posts and to drill the neck screw holes (but I'll let a pro do that job as I don't want to make a dog dinner of it) Oh and as the neck was bare, I had the opportunity to have a Fender logo applied on it, YES I DO KNOW IT'S STILL A SQUIER by the way, but it'll look more the part that way, anyway I look forward to the new honking maple sound as opposed to the rosewood one.
I've been noticing this on and off for the last couple of days too. 15-20 seconds delay to load random pages and 'waiting for basschat.co.uk' displayed in the status bar. Doesn't sound a lot, but it's not happening anywhere else.
At least I am not the only one noticing this, I thought I was going crazy. Oh well. -
There are loads of sites where you enter the youtube video url and they do it it for you - like this one - http://www.video2mp3.net/
YOU SIR, are a genius! Thanks!!

For the last 3 or 4 days I am experiencing some delays in viewing this forum. When I click on the url from my favourites it just hangs in there for a good 20 seconds and doesn't load the forum unless I repeatedly click F5. Even once I am in it takes delays in opening / viewing a thread. Now I am not experiencing this with any other forum so it can't be a problem related to my set up / pc / broadband etc. I have even run a complete troubleshoot routine deleting and even defragged my hard disc but the problem still remains. I'd just like to know if I am alone in this or is everyone else experiencing this too? Has the forum database FTP server reached its top capacity perchance and we are struggling for memory or something? You could gain some memory by culling on registered users that have been idle for more than say 2 years cause they're good as gone, I think... or perhaps remove topic older than so many years? Is that what the problem is?

Have a good read through this link, by the time you've read it all you'll be an expert. http://www.jerzydrozdbasses.com/akcndfr54j...uide_ver100.pdf

Before even looking at softwares and peripherals, I would be concerned about the latency issue of a laptop due to the restricted quality of their sound cards being able to handle recording software, unless it's one of the latest iMac, usually windows based laptop are a lot of grief. So check with the minimum requirements from the software you are intending to buy before you do.

Classic Vibe 1 million to 1

These are from the same people who didn't mind selling their comfort strap which happened to have plastic clips that kept breaking and dropping like flies left right and centre, cheaply made in indochina? Well... on that account, would I buy a bass from the same people who cares so little about a selling a strap that could possibly damage my hard earned good quality bass? I would think twice! Which then again explains why so many Bass Collection are found, as you've righlty put it.... knocking around.

These are uninspiring to me, I have played a couple of the EBMM's real classic series and I've found them to be no where near the vibe and sound of a real 79's pre EB Stingray, and as for these Sterling ones, why oh why didn't they fit mutes in the bridges like EBMM has done? Personally I'd be happier spending that money on a MusicMan SUB 5 strings in Cinnamon if I could get hold of one.

Actually I've honoured him with that deserved title, he didn't self proclaim it http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...t&p=1080347

I have owned both active and passive basses and even a couple with the by-pass switch to allow both ways. I like either, though I prefer the safety of passive because there's no batteries to check, or let you down in the middle of a set. That was until I bought a passive Dingwall ABZ 5 and believe me I have had to check under the back plate to make sure I wasn't being fooled. There's no preamp and no battery I confirm, yet these pickups are so powerful that I am having to plug it in the passive stage of my amp to avoid clipping. That Sheldon Dingwall is a bit of a magician I tell you, it's not just the fanned frets malarchy and the woods he uses, but there is a lot of work in the electronics wizardry of his pickups that makes these basses stand out.

Fender 60th Anniversary Precision confirmed!
Especially with the SC with ashtray. you'd have thought they would have come up with a bridge and ashtray to tie it all in .
And something else begs the question "Why going through all that trouble to mimic a classic design and not make the headstock in the telecaster fashion?" It looks like a bit of a bodged effort to me, doesn't it? -
it's also very similar to the new Lakland offerings I wonder how many will be bought to play and how many as "investments" TBH if I had the cash I might go for the later myself. Anyone seen how many of these are going to be produced?
I know it's become their trademark design, but I really dislike the look of those bridges specially on that type of bass. Shame. -
Go for it, and (evil laugh follows ) if you buy it new the -long- waiting time will give you plenty time to look for band/gigs. I happen to know a song about that, cause I've ordered my in October and I am told it will arrive sometimes between end of Jan beginning Feb (so says Sheldon Dingwall anyway... ahem)

I've got loads of "better" basses, but the wee red one is my fave at the mo, and I can't stop picking it up!
Ah glad to see my ex 51 Precision Squier gets appreciated.

pickups with series/ parallel switch option
Grand Wazoo replied to chilievans's topic in Bass Guitars
I've just picked up my main Fender Jazz today after having a set of Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups and a series/parallel push/pull knob fitted. It sounds great. In parallel it's just like a Jazz Bass, whereas in series it seems to give it more balls. It increases the output slightly and gives a real fat tone that is almost Precision like but with more power and clarity (I think). Here's a wiring diagram for adding a push/pull knob. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wirin...ic=jass_bass_sp

Thankyou kindly Mr Wazoo. What difference would it make to the tone/sound?
What he said!
