I have always been a Ray or P player, although I do like Jazz basses from time to time. I have my Rays (incl other EBMMs) covered. (although I still want a 2EQ at some point). I have a very nice American Standard P and J. For some reason, Im still weighing up buying another American Standard P. I have no idea why. I know one would stay mint, and the other would get more use, but I don't see why I need another?! It would be exactly the same apart from the colour, even the same fretboard. Ok, one could be strung with flats, one with rounds. Is there any point? What you have to realise that as much as I play, I also collect as well, I think if they hadnt shot up in price, I would have already bought one, but to buy one now, you are looking at £1000 or just under if you haggle for a non-3TS colour. Damn GAS.
Ok now Gareth you'll need to translate this to understand it, from Italian to English: Gareth Tanto per cominciare, i tuoi 2 Fender American Standard non esistono ancora, finquando non ci mostri le fotografie, poi in addizione, me sembra che in questo thread, stai parlando attraverso la tua parte di dietro, perche' a me, niente di quanto hai scritto sta facendo alcun senso. ----------- Now I challenge you or some other clever clogs here to go translate what I have written in italian and that is what I think about this post of yours.

Ok Ped & Co. all is well and good with the upgrade but since yesterday morning operations are really slow, and I am on Virgin 50meg optical broadband here, every other site or forum runs smooth but here things have become mighty slow. Any idea? Opening a thread or post takes ages.
I know what you mean, there's no decent shops near me either! FYI, I think all Sandbergs are equipped with Glocks. Hope this helps.
Snap.... you took them words right outta my.... keyboard -
Did you get hold of one? If not you can borrow one of mine. I have two CV's but neither have the HM bridge on them any more so i dont really need the Allen keys unless i sell the bridges.
Dave what have you done with the hm bridges, don't you like them? I found them to be one of the best bits about these basses?

I might well be in the market for one of these.... in a 5 strings / maple neck but with block inlays as in this pic here.... minus the matching headstock as I hate painted h/stocks in a MM / P pickup combo. Small neck heel, large neck pocket. Cheap fixes?
Grand Wazoo replied to dave_bass5's topic in Repairs and Technical
best get a neck that fits right the firtst time. string tension will cause an ill fitting neck to shift sideways towards the greater tension i.e. your A and E strings and you end up with wonky frets like mine. lol -
How not to look like an idjeet when playing "ALL RIGHT NOW" from FREE I went to see a mate playing last month, and in their setlist they play "All Right Now" by FREE, during the guitar solo the bass plays this riff where you are rushing up and down the neck from the top to the dusty end to play 17th / 19th fret 16th / 19th frets, right? Well I haven't played that number in ages although I just remembered the way in which I used to approach it slightly differently and with economy in mind, by playing the whole thing up the 2nd position between frets 4 to 7. Here is how I do it: The numbers below are the frets that you press and the relevant strings as many times as required E string = 5 / 5 / 5 / B string = 5 / 7 / E string = 5 / 5 / B string = 7 / 5 / Now the harmonics = / 5th fret G string / 5th fret D string / 4th freth D string / 5th fret D string E string = 5 / 5 / 5 / B string = 5 / 7 / E string = 5 / 5 / B string = 7 / 5 / Now the harmonics = / 5th fret G string / 5th fret D string / 4th freth D string / 5th fret D string E string = 5 / 5 / 5 / B string = 5 / 7 / E string = 5 / 5 / B string = 7 / 5 / Now the harmonics = / 5th fret G string / 5th fret D string / 4th freth D string / 5th fret D string Simples! Try it with a chorus and a compressors and those harmonics will ring much better than the fretted notes and at the same pitch as the notes you would play up the 17th and 19th fret without you having to jump up and down the neck like an idjeet! LOL
......... Putting 2 and 2 together (and potentially making 5), I guessed that Bass Direct aren't really selling Sandberg anymore, so they're steering customers toward similar alternatives that they do stock. -------
10 POINTS!! oh F**K me! He's right again! LOL (no more Sandberg's at BD all replaced by Mayonnaise and Clovers) -
I might be showing my age here, but that bass reminds me a lot of John Mayall's carved guitar, late '70's era For those of you who are young John Mayall used to play with Eric Clapton in a blues band called John Mayall and the Bluesbrakers, I think Clapton replaced Peter Green or the other way around, still... bloody good band.
I don't think GW was meaning peoples opinions on here, as they are just personal opinions. I love Sandberg but I've never tried a Mayones, so I can't compare them. I do agree though that you should always be cautious of a shop owner who is keen to change your mind from the bass you thought you wanted, which he doesn't stock, to a different brand which he does stock. As we all know, you just need to get it in your hand and have a thrash (if you'll pardon the expression!)
Alleluyah, this man has "got" my point with 100% accuracy! Well done, I now enlist you in my good book lol -
Looks nice! And with 3 pickups must be a first http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2011/09/01/bass-of-the-week-rickenbacker-limited-edition-lemmy-kilmister-signature-4004lk/?fb_ref=Recommendations

See? I am a minority, I tried the Mayonnaise and didn't like it. I preferred and still prefer the Sandberg, which is why I keep saying that one man's meat is another man's poison. You've got to try them before a shop owner try to convince you and sell you this or that bass! You need to make your own opinion and stop listening to people who's interest is bia$ed, capish? -
Here's your answer Dingwall ABZ 5 - Passive (Nails all 3 basses in one instrument, Stingray slap, P-Bass depth and Jazz tone guaranteed)
I have a few custom shop bass, vintage style and from different years I have also try a few real old fender bass and of course the reissue series The CS are the best bass you can own in terms of finish and sound If you are concerned about the resale value buy a used CS
Nice... but, only pics help, show us what you got!

Just a note, some of the emoticons that were in previous posts before the change over are now appearing as a red cross with the name of the icon next to it. I guess the old ones couldn't be transferred over, no biggie at least they seem to work in this new version. oh and one other thing... there doesn't seem to be a preview message feature before posting, I used to use it a lot to make sure my spelling was right or that the pics show as intended. oh and another another thing... will the [you tube]...... [/you tube] still work? I like that now there is an ignore feature too, so I can silence that one prat that annoys me after all. haha. Ony one mind you everyone else seem to be nice people except that one prat LOL

a bit "funny" this... will take some getting used to... like where's all my stuff? pm's? is there a tutorial? Not bad though! so I guess well done...
