1. Personally it's difficult to say what will stay and what will be sold but I will never part with what I call my no.1 of my collection, "the madness of King Bass". this bass is mental, really! Although it looks quite conservative and polite this is a bit of an animal in every way possible, my 1986 completely original PRS Bass IV As approved by Killer the kitten prrrrrrr
 2.
this has the P pickup though: shame is doesn't have all the controls... EDIT: Ignore me, I got the wrong page on the fender website..
I think that one is a different variant, i.e. non Deluxe and non active / passive.
 3. It seems they've made a mistake on the specs of these basses on their website, it says here one bridge Jazz bass pickup and neck Precision... they look both like jazz pickups to me, shame it would have been nice if they were a P/J configuration General Model Name: Deluxe Jaguar® Bass Series: Deluxe Color / Part #:

3-Color Sunburst 025-9505-500

Candy Apple Red 025-9505-509

Cobalt Blue 025-9505-587
Body Body Shape: Jaguar® Neck Neck Shape: "C" Shape Number of Frets: 20 Fret Size: Medium Jumbo Position Inlays: Aged White Pearloid Block Position Inlays Fretboard Radius: 7.25" (18.41 cm) Fretboard: Rosewood Neck Material: Maple Nut Width: 1.5" (38.1 mm) Scale Length: 34" (86.36 cm) Electronics Pickup Configuration: S/S Bridge Pickup: Vintage Jazz Bass® Single-Coil Pickup (Bridge) Neck Pickup: Vintage Precision Bass® Single-Coil Pickup (Neck) Pickup Switching: 2-On/Off slide switches, one for each pickup, 1-Series/Parallel slide switch (operates only when both pickups are on) Controls: Master Volume, Master Tone, Preamp Treble Control Wheel, Preamp Bass Control Wheel, Preamp On/Off Slide Switch Hardware Hardware: Nickel/Chrome Bridge: Vintage Style 4-Saddle Bridge with Threaded Steel Saddles Auxiliary Switching: 1-Series/Parallel Slide Switch (Operates only when both pickups are on) Miscellaneous Strings: Fender® USA, NPS, (Gauges .045-.105) Unique Features: Aged White Pearloid Block Position Inlays, Active/Passive Preamp System with Series/Parallel Switching, Rear Mounted Quick Release Battery Compartment, Synthetic Bone Nut, Black Plastic Knobs, Switches and Pickup Covers Accessories Included Accessories: None Control Knobs: Jazz Bass® Knobs
 4.
GW I have no issue with you changing your mind or thinking whatever you like about whatever make and model of bass, it's what makes us different but it's just that unusable thing, I know you have dangled it out for a bite and I've bitten. I have played in no particular order but at some length if not quite a bit of time spent with, Dingwalls, GBs, EBMMs, Roskoes, Allevas, Sadowskys, Seis, Rics ,Fenders, High end Yammys etc etc etc, The biggest difference between them was styling so I'm intrigued to know just what the Dingwall allows you to do that any of those don't or is it specifically EBMM basses that are unusable in comparison?
You are more than welcome to be my guest, come and visit me, and I'll let you try 'em. In a nutshell, the neck and the novax system allows the E and low B to ring out well defined notes which were previosuly not so on other basses I've owned. Also these necks are very comfortable, not quite as thin as Ibanez necks, yet they allow for a very low action without fret buzz. Thanks to the extra scale length all strings have an even tension from the G string to the low B, they are a breeze to play, effortlessly, songs which I previously struggled that were a bit busier on the hand now are much easier on the wrist muscles. The pickups and preamps I also find to be very usable and easy for anyone to get a good sound just going through the pickup selector and tone control. Come and try them. Nuff said

 6.
You better tell us all what your antidote was then or did the pill Sheldon give you overwrite it
None whatsoever haha funny guy!
 7.
I have said it before to you GW as you know (as you have said it before in another thread) but to say an EBMM bass is unusable in comparison to a Dingwall is just laughable. They are both well made and one person may prefer one to the other but in no way are they unusable they just aren't
As I've said.... matrix / red pill.
 8. And as for not liking EBMM Jimmy it's not entirely correct, as I've said I don't mind the odd bass they make, what I am not down with is the level of mind control which is inputed in that forum, you're either in their gang or you're out and many like you Jimmy fall victim of that forced doctrine that make you wanna be a sworn disciple to be in their good book, you are proving the very fact by trying to come here and put me on the spot, fighting the good fight on behalf of your gang leader. It's all washed out Jimmy, pathetic, and its making you look like a puppet on a string. Please steer away from me. I am not interested, you're plugged in the matrix mate. You took the red pill.
 9.
Keep it civil please guys.....don't wanna lock the thread before we see the conclusion huh Si
Well said Si and thank you. People tends to forget that whilst things need to be said politely in order to comply within the guidleines of good fellowmanship in forum such as this that there is freedom of speech and freedom of thoughts, Jimmy does not allow me such freedom and by doing so, he is slave of his own restrictive thoughts. Jimmy to be correct I don't mind a Stingray or a Sub and loved the Big Al to bits, however while these basses are good, there are better ones that makes them unusable in comparison. I am happy to state that I have found these basses and I am happy with my current stable of choice.
 10. Yes I said I have changed my mind, what of it Jimmyb625? f***ing hell!!
 11.
Not exactly the swiss army of basses you used to think it was then. http://basschat.co.u...165#entry751165
No it wasn't, much to my disappointment. Fact is... look at my basses, see which one have stayed and which ones have been sold on? You see.. we try, until we think we have found the best only to realize that some are difficult to place in a real band situation despite the initial impression we get, the 3 Dingwalls for instance are win win win same as my two new Fender American Standard and the PRS will be cremated with me. The rest are in my will for my son to inherit when I kick the bucket.
 12. Even the Reflex it's better than a Bongo
 13.
Unfortunately for me, the (probably) longest thread I've started isn't very positive! Never mind ay! Anyway, update. I am not going for a Classic Stingray, mainly because the last one I tried wasn't exactly what Im looking for, and to be honest i'd rather have the 2EQ in a modern standard body (eg no mutes, with contours, less weight on average, etc). Plus, the Standard 2EQs are MUCH cheaper, and I know they work for me. The Classic's look great, don't get me wrong, and the sound is spot on, but as I'm after a rosewood board mainly (and a Classic with rosewood means less figuring) and I don't need the extras (the mutes are a cool feature, but I wouldn't use them much). So, I am actually taking a go at a....wait for it.....Bongo. They also have a few HH Rays with a normal headstock, so Im looking at a deal for both and taking the MHS price off the Bongo. So far, it looks like despite all these problems, I am getting these items at very very good prices.
Oh f*** me Gareth, don't say I didn't warn you, a Bongo yes it has a nice sound, I know cause I've had one with the piezo which really saved the day. but that's one usable sound and one only that's good out of it, with the pan in the middle both humbuckers full on, the rest is bloody boring and the pickup pan is really cack, no use at all. You get one only sound out of it and it's a booming great sound I give you that, but one you can only use in one contest, one style, i.e. attack and destroy but for the rest no subtelty, not a lot of soul from it. You'll soon get bored of it and your band will hate you, so will any sound man. Remember the 18V preamp is on permanently no option to go passive on the Bongo, so no chance for you to get a nice vibey mellow vintage tone out of it. On your head be it! As I've said to you if you must get one of the modern EBMM basses go for a Big Al SSS ffsake! But it's your money and I see another EBMM going back to sender from you, mark my words.
 14. I believe this thread and all the allegations have run it's course. I wish it was....... closed now.
 15.
I'm toying with the idea of getting a custom bass done. One of the things I'd like to do would be having my initials (ARK) on the fingerboard. I can't think what colour would be right though, it'd be an ebony or rosewood fingerboard. Body probably black with black/white/black guard. Black hardware as well, naturally Any suggestions? Can't decide if white or silver would look best!
Spoiler - If you decide to sell it, you need to look for someone with the initial ARK otherwise you are lumbered with the thing. *THINK*
 16.
Not falling into that one again Fran. No this ones the real deal about as perfect a woman as you can get, just got to be careful how much I spend as theres not much about at the moment. And in her eyes its probably not a necessary item/items.
Very sensible Ben, that's what I like to hear. I must say I am pleased for you about the new lady! Keep an eye on ebay, you never know a pair of Duncan might come for sale 2nd hand.
 17. Mom I am bored, are we there yet?
 18.
Grand Wazoo's pretty much right there, the MB combos are excellent kit. Though it's @ 350w without the ext cab (not that it matters, as it's seriously loud). If I had the CMD 151, I'd add another MB 15" cab. I have the CMD 102p & if I ever need more volume, I'd add another 2x10.
Yes that's correct I couldn't remember if it was 200W or 350W when used solo, thanks for correcting me.
IMO, the 210 is a far better answer than the 115. The 115 is dull in sound character, although it puts out the volume well enough. The horn isn't very good and most turn it off, which makes it sound even duller. I think the 102 is the best combo around I've tried, but you need to be sure you want a 15" speaker.
Exactly I have tried every possible combination with my 102 and the best was a traveller 2x10' that paired with the 102 was the most kickass of the lot.
 19. Chances are that if you buy Mesa Boogie valves just to give you an example they would probably be.... Made in China an re-badged by Mesa. There are only a few quality valve factories left in the world and prices for Sovtech or European valves are so high that big factories now tend to buy them from the far east. Same happen to GT tubes, Marshall, Orange etc etc.
 20.
Been doing alot of reading up on pots and their values. And then realised I had a set of 250k alpha pots already wired up(think they were off a jazz) so just soldered them into the thunderbird and there is a definite change in sound. and so far I like it. so will be popping some CTS pots in when they get here. Pickups will follow shortly, along with hipshot bridge. She is going to kill me.
Bloody hell Ben, you never learn do you? I would have thought after divorcing the first wife you'd have learn a thing or two about being the boss indoors... you're not under the thumb with this new one and all, are ya?
 21.
What? I would. The current mrs discreet's arse has got its own post code.
Thanks for sharing... (not?)
 22. Yes and it all comes down to taste Ben, but I can tell you that through my years of modding I find the Duncans more organic and the EMG too modern sounding, and if you aer looking for vintage vibes then you think about what is best for you. tara chuck or as they say in France "Au revoire, Benoit!"
 23.
I think she's cute. Hurr.
You'll need to go out more matey! haha
 24.
And now, in addition, my 1977 Precision. T`ain`t goin nowhere!
I don't blame you mate. Those were some of the best.
 25. Yes I have, gone full circle with a bunch of basses but what you see in my signature picture is pretty much cemented in my "keepers" list
