I've just passed my test within this last year and bought a little Audi A2. I get my 212cab, head and pedal train mini (which sit in the scooped out foot wells behind the driver and front passenger seat. I've the rear seats out and it's like a wee minivan. Along with my bass I normally take the drummer and all his gear which is one of those big stand bags and his entire kit. There's room for more but that's all I need to lug about for gigs. I've always really liked the Audi A2, reminds me of a baby hippopotamus in side profile, and it suits my needs perfectly! I just dig those German motors!

I just realise I didn't put in any feedback from a previous transaction and having just bought a bridge off Pete can I say I was really happy with the first transaction and even happier to see it was Pete selling the bridge as I knew it would again be a hassle free and smooth deal. Bridge went on in abt 20 minutes, is a great design and probably the easiest one I've ever set up and intonated and was, naturally from Pete, in great condition. Top bloke who always has tasty gear kicking about. Cheers Pete!

I'm usually not pushing the head more than 1 o'clock on the output volume and there is certainly more volume on tap if I push it further. Once I switch on the compressor and the MXR I have more volume there too should I need it but I try and keep everything at sensible levels i.e. all pedal volumes about noon I'm not really GAS'ing and new stuff is nice but it's not gonna sound radically different from what I have - I'm just more concerned about the head exploding mid set - at least I have the MXR and PA should that happen

Luke Next time you rehearse in a practice room try putting your amp against the opposite wall or just stand facing it from the other side of the room if space permits. Those few feet away might give you a chance to hear yourself more clearly as might being able to angle the bass cab a little. We often used to have all the amps set up like monitors in our old practice space as if they were the crowd pointing towards us. Certainly sounded better for us at the time but that was maybe as much to do with the room (which we rented and had all our own kit permanently set up in)

Lovely stuff! Tom is a delight to work with. I honestly think everyone on TB who is into effects should take the plunge and have Tom build you that pedal you keep searching and trading for. I don't think I've seen anyone complain about either the customer service or more importantly the quality of the tones! For much less than the big name boutique builders he can deliver exactly what you want in a custom finish and thats a pretty strong selling point IMO. Looking forward to the review hamfist! Maybe we should start a review thread in the reviews forum with audio/video? C'mon Shep you already have about 5 of his pedals get the ball rollin'

Just an update to this earlier post- -due to a heap of circumstance I hadn't really had an opportunity to use the cog custom pedal that much recently but I've just had a full band practice last night and it was sounding really good. The band all thought the bass was sounding excellent and better than they can remember! Looking forward to the new 'stock' range of pedals Tom!

Hey folks ** Pictures now added** - you can see a superficial scratch on the bottom of the case near the wheels which is the only major mark on the case! I didn't get a chance to try a 5 string lakland yet but did play a bass yesterday with the Nordstrand pick ups. The sound fantastic and the solo'd neck pick up is really nice. I just bought a new to me imac as my laptop melted otherwise I'd be all over this. Maybe in a few months if it's still here!

Flats are great and I often switch between rounds and flats depending on which band I'm gigging with - I think I need a second bass again Stick with the flats IMO it's one of those sounds live which you just cant beat and for all the definition lost you get a real meaty bass sound which just sits in there and works!

This wheeled, trolly style case is ideal if you gig with/use an iMac up to 24inch. I suppose you could use if for other gear but its custom made for the 24" iMac. It's the daddy and weights about 15kg Full details/spec are here but bear in mind this is for the 21" mac so dimensions are a little bigger![list] [*][size=2]Features. Beefy, stackable ball corners. Cheers guys The amp is a MarkBass made Ernie Ball Audiophile HD500 and with a Dr Bass2460 212 and sounds great. I understand more drivers will do more for volume than a 'louder' amp but I'm after a one cab solution as I cart the drummers gear abt too/space constraints on 'stage'. I guess I was just concerned the amp would be toiling and I'm not looking for 900w on stage as my stage volume is fine likewise at 8 ohms I wouldn't be getting the full 900w power of the GB amp. So the amp should be fine running 300w at 8ohms and if I need more 'power' just add another 8ohm cab. That's good enough for moi! Thanks again folks

Hey folks, I recently picked up a 212 cab which is rated at 800w @8ohms I'm currently running a 500w head which is giving 300w output @8ohms. Since switching to the 'big' in favour to my 112 I'm certainly noticing 'more' onstage power/heft/punch with the 212 than the 112 I was using before but was wondering if I should be looking for a head which can give the cab more oompf at the rated 8ohm. I understand I'm not gonna damage the speakers 'under-powering' them but I'm concerned I'm running the head too close to it's limits (I gig for a couple of hours at a time usually between 5-10 gigs a month). I haven't had any issues with the head overheating or the amp protection circuit kicking in or anything like that but just speculating if I should be thinking about a slightly more powerful head just to be on the safe side. I might just be trying to convince myself that I need a Genz Benz Shuttle 9/Streamer 900 but realistically am I just being too cautious? Cheers for any thoughts.

The Tone Hammer is a great unit but decide if you want to use it as a clean only or drive only (regardless of how little drive you need) as there is a noticeable boost between the two channels. There was a good review/user setting piece on Talk Bass by one experienced user which I found really useful when I used one. It explained how to get the best from the TH and the importance of the mid control in the drive channel. I'm currently using the MXR M80 as i find it's better suited to my needs or pre-amp/dirt box/di I really like the M80. It can sound a bit 'modern' with the drive engaged but I'm digging that sound and have other pedals for more low gain vintage tones.

Anyone prefer small 1x12 cab sounds to larger rigs?
krispn replied to mcgraham's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've been using a mesa Scout 112 which I really enjoy but felt that a bigger cab would be better for on stage volume and projection as we started to play some bigger rooms. I picked up a Dr Bass 2460 (2x12 woofers, 150 watt 6.5" mid w/compression horn) and the difference on stage is certainly noticeable. Call it heft, or the feel it in your stomach thing but it's certainly hittin' the spot! Not sure that I want to get rid of the Mesa as it's a great wee cab but I haven't used it since getting the Dr Bass! -
I was gonna put in an offer only to see you had nabed it. Great looking bass and I'd imagine the tone and build quality are solid!

Ain't played a Pino but if the '62RI p bass neck is anything like the CS necks it was the nicest p I've ever played!
