1. I'm thinking of starting to actually learn music theory stuff as I'm a bit hopeless at it. About 10 yrs ago I started writing out the parts of songs my band wrote while doing the 1 hour bus journey to visit family with the view to giving the written parts to a friend who could read... i got the parts all written but never gave them to my friend to play. I've thought if I dedicate the time spent looking at basses and amps on BC into actually learning some music theory I'd be a better player in about 3 weeks Now the clocks have changed music theory and learning how to swim properly are top of my to do lists! This book is getting bought! Alo is the GCSE syllabus book any good?
2. Two Nolly's and this Combi all in the for sale - its a good time to be lusting after a mint Combi/NG-2 for a discounted price!
3. You should give it a spin. Be massive sounding for the reggae stuff.
4. ***BASS HAS NOW SOLD*** This is a SALE ONLY as I have to replace my computer. Please don't offer me your computer as a trade **Pictures attached at the bottom** Got this 3 colour sunburst/rosewood neck'd beauty recently in a trade but its a bit too modern for my old ears. I'd initially thought it would compliment my P5 and while it does I find myself gravitating back to the P sound! The ear wants what the ear wants and I can happily live with the P5. This is a great sounding bass which has a 4 way selector giving: J bridge sound, MM type sound, mid forward MM type sound (basically series and parallel humbucker tones) and a P neck sound but all with the Dingwall touch. This is combined with a 3 band EMG pre amp (Bass, Mid, Treble) and an active/passive on/off switch. The EQ frequencies are set at

Bass 20hz (+/-12db)
Mid 1khz (+/-10db)
Treble 7.5khz (+/-12db)

I've been using this bass in a choir which covers everything from soul and motown to modern chart tunes and it can handle all styles in it's stride. The scale length isn't a problem especially if your familiar with a 35" scale and the fanned frets are a cinch - you really don't notice after a few minutes. What is noticeable is the clarity and power of the B string, all the strings really. The bass sounds massive and clear and at a wedding gig last weekend I really noticed the added oomph into my 212 cab. Made the 35" Super P 5 sound 'muddy' in comparison...well kinda The bass is really well built, very comfy - think more J style neck than P and you're in the correct ball park - and massive tone. It's important to note that the neck pick up can be moved back a bit in the route to the 'Nolly Getgood' NG-2 position - the bass is pre-routed as both the NG-2 and combustion share the same basic body shape. If you did this you would need to get another pick guard to accommodate it. See pic's attached. If you're interested and in Edinburgh come try it out. I will ship but the buyer is responsible for courier/insurance etc. I'll pack securely in a box and have it ready for collection. Cheers for looking and feel free to PM any questions. 5. Or a good excuse to buy more gear... I run a Basswitch and have the compressor in one loop and run my drive effects into the mix loop which does a great job of keeping my levels manageable if use a different basses, gives me a solids reliable D.I. signal and allows me to keep a good clean tone and mix in the filth. I'm not getting any unwanted noises apart from the ones I make. Obviously more gear is never the answer
6. With the tone capsule at £99 on BD it's cheaper than I expected it to be!
7. Those Nolly sig models look and sound great from what I've heard online. What's the verdict on the DG Tone Capsule. They look like a great idea with dual mid controls. I've recently been playing a Dingwall and it's just one of those basses which makes you want to play more. The fan frets is a non issue and it's not noticeable when playing. I was switching between the ding and a regular fret 5 string and I didn't notice the change.
8. I think it's been over 36hrs bump Gas'ing for another head but really shouldn't be entertaining another bit of bass gear as this ticks every box for my live and studio needs!!
9. Note I'm happy to ship if the buyer wishes to arrange courier.
10. No longer for sale after a great sounding rehearsal/gig last night. I'd be mad to sell this. Super light and sounds great!
11. Did a deal with Ian which went very smoothly indeed and gave me an excuse to get down the country for a drive. Top bloke! All the best! G
12. Amend your post title accordingly 😀

Gone

Should get some on tomorrow jimbo got a busy morning and afternoon and not back home until much later. Craft Beer Rising in Glasgow beckons😀
14. I've played this bass and it's fantastic. As I'm mainly a 5 stringer my next big purchase will likely be a 5 but at this price it's very tempting. I've been gigging the 4 string recently just to see if I'm kidding myself on😉
15. Cert says P/J? Is that a reference to body and neck as its not a P/J p/up config.
16. I'm still super happy with my Cali76-G. That bass version does look tasty but I just got mine a month ago. It's going nowhere
17. Ticket booked and a room on the delightful Grassmarket Bench hotel, boasting seating space for three and comfortably sleeps one
18. No sweat maybe some other time If Danny is in tonight i may get him to record us on my phone ( I may have a buddy swinging by too so we should get some audio or video nabbed) G
19. Hey guys my shout out for tonight still stands - if anyone wants to swing by Finnegan's from 10.30pm and berate the live sound but provide some useful advice too I'm all ears As a side line our singer has just bough a new desk and is 'studying it' ahead of using it for two gigs tonight - one a duo and another with the full band. The desk looks super intuitive and I think we will be more open about what we want to get out of it as well as we've had a big chat about the sound etc. I'm not just interested in how my bass sounds or how out of tune the singer might go, I'd just like to know what the mix is like if the fiddle has enough body, the vox are full and even and most importantly the guitar - He's using a POD HD500 and I'm aware they can sound harsh. I'm not too sure he knows what to do in attaining a good rock sound and uses 18 different patches over the course of the gig (I'm not sure why - I think because he can he does). Ultimately it'll be a good gig but its so hard to judge the sound from the stage and we dont get to do a sound check as such - just a monitor feed on stage before they change FOH over form the jukebox or TV sports Looking forward to it though as it's always a great night in Finn's! Gavin
