Klon KTR

I'm a fan of clones...the cheapest Chinese ones I can find too...because that is currently all my budget will allow However, I would say if you want one and can afford one...absolutely get one! Hopefully it will be a gas killer and something you can keep as part of your set up for a long time. Is it worth the extra £? I think it's probably best not to get into that I do have a crush on the Wampler Tumnus and that's a bit cheaper. Also Brian Wampler's Youtube channel is great (I also fancy a Tweed 57.) With respect to SS amps...I play a bunch of cheapy clone pedals through a Gear4Music/Belcat 35w combo and 1. it's totally loud enough for my band and 2. It sounds as good as/better than the previous guitar players Blues Junior 3. It's really light! I know you didn't ask...but there you go!

3. Good choice I hope he's very happy with it
4. My first thought is why does everyone play rock?! I've noticed while looking for band members for my current project that 90% of musicians seems to put down "classic rock" as one of their chief styles/interests. It's prevalent. Prevalent I tell ya!
5. Good looks are my number one priority. Simply for the fact that if I don't like the look of something, the chances are I will never pick it up and play it in the first place.
6. Pickups fitted! Fitting was a bit of an issue because somewhere along the line the wires came detached from the pickup and I had to resolder them. I might have got a Friday afternoon solderer or it might have been down to my heavy handedness. Who knows?! Either way they are fitted and they sound great.
7. I have a TC BH550 with a Spectracomp and I leave it at 12 o'clock all the time. It adds a little punch without really squashing everything. Saying that, it's pretty much the only compressor I have really liked.
8. Thanks It will be a fun little project once we have the line up in place
9. Hi folks, As per title really. Last Year: I bought a pair of cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. I soon realised that my only real opportunity to wear them would be to form a modern country band. Present Day: We are myself on guitar, Simon on vocals and George on drums. We have access to a free rehearsal space in Amersham. We are all over 40, some slightly further over than others. We share a love of modern country, which some would argue isn't country at all. However the songs are catchy and very immediate and can be really fun to play. We want to gig although we will ultimately aim for quality over quantity in that respect. We don't necessarily try to replicate songs exactly but rather just capture the feel and energy of the song while playing to our individual strengths. There will be times to try and get pretty close to the track, and there will be times to get creative. We also want to have fun, both when we're playing and when we're not. We are looking for an acoustic guitarist with backing vocals who enjoys the material and is prepared to put in a bit of time and work and of course is reliable. It's more of a strumming gig rather than finger style. You'll be banging out chords for most of the time so a good sense of rhythm is essential. Other than that we are pretty open to whoever comes along. We will know if you're the right person for the job just as you will know if this is the right band Here are a few of the songs we plan on doing... Ta. Paul.

11. ^^^It makes for an awesome sounding rig. No denying it.
12. Just ordered a set of Ironstone tele pickups off the bay. Immediately swapped a couple of nice messages with the guy...excellent customer relations right off the bat. I will report further once I have them installed
13.
I strongly suggest you don't try searching stagewear on the same site...
I couldn't resist
14.
The three cabs (it's actually Two10, Four10 and Eight10) are producing different signals (distorted, overdriven and clean respectively) so they don't interact like a normal stack would and he still gets all the dispersion benefits of the line array. It's great to see the rig standing out so much on a popular TV show!
Great stuff Alex...looked and sounded great! Btw, still loving my Gen1 Compact but saw, listened to, and carried a new Two10 last night. Sounded lovely and looks really classy. Well done.
15. That's the creepiest selection of clothes I have ever seen.
16.
thanks for the comment on the knobs, these are next but I want to use something as a basis, not just turn them from steel, I guess the rigidity of a material has an effect on the tone & the sustain , Iron just breaks if you try to bend it, unlike brass so there must be some effect on sound, after all, some bells are iron ! Interesting thought.
What about using smaller cogs for the knobs? It would tie in with the bridge rather nicely
17. Handing out our demos on cassette at gigs was an awesome way to interact with the audience and absolutely kicks the arse of emailing someone an mp3 link! I don't see what's wrong with a little bit of retro fun. It doesn't make any less sense than the indie label 7" vinyl thing. In fact it makes more sense...it's something that a band can produce from beginning to end in the "bedroom". Some nice sleeve design and a cool label for the tape and it could look really good. Of course I do forget we are on ContraryChat so everyone and everything else is bollocks and full of lies.
18. I like my strap adjusted so the bass is the same height whether I'm sitting or standing. However I'm playing more guitar these days and I like it to hang a little lower. I do notice a difference between sitting or standing so I need to get in the habit of practising standing up up more often.
19. That hit me right in the nostalgias. Very interesting stuff
20. Imbruglia's version is much better.
21. Very steampunk! I think it looks great and much kudos to you and your imagination. Well done that man
22. Rehearsal was m'eh but the pedal was YAY! Kept it on all night and it totally worked. Not noticeable on the faster, funkier, choppier stuff but really lush on the big chords and arpeggios.
23. I wanted the GK but what I had was a Laney DP150 and a Peavey 1x15+2x8 cab.
