  1. Spotted this from the Build Diaries thread, great stuff @SimonK I bought a brand new TE 4x10 combo back in the day, around 1993/4 for around £750 if my memory is right. I immediately got it flight cased and gigged it extensively - much to the disappointment of our roadies at the time! They hated the thing 🤭 Absolute beast though, during a soundcheck our engineer would be permanently waving his hand downwards for me to knock it quieter 🤣 During one sound check, a year or so in, I was standing waiting to check the levels - when clubs were full of cigarette smoke - an old bloke with a fag in his mouth at the front enquired 'yer smoking son?' No thanks I replied. No he said, yer big box behind you, you're smoking. Turned around and the amp had smoke pouring out of the top... 🫣 Got it repaired, and used it for around 6/7 years. Eventually went into storage and I sold it to a local studio/rehearsal room for £100. Great to see folks still loving the brand as I once did 👍🏼
  2. Absolutely outstanding work 😳👌🏼 very well done @RonC What an amazing bass!! 😎 Can I ask what the pickups are? They look authentic 👍🏼 I want one 🤭
  3. Patience Grasshopper... 🤭
  4. Just been sent this from Saturday night, the guy who sent it said I looked like I really enjoyed playing that bass! 😆
  5. Thanks Dave very kind words 👌🏼 we only play round the doors here in the Northeast, few social clubs (not many left now) few pubs. We wrapped in the same band in 2000, and reformed with four original members when two of us retired. Very lucky to have a band of 4 good mates, and me and the guitarist/sax player Pete (who you met) have played together for 46 years now 👍🏼
  6. When I bought my CB fretless it came with a ramp, first time using one for me, and from the day I got it to now, I wouldn't remove it. It just feels right on this bass, but strangely, I don't feel I'd ever use another on any of my other basses.
  7. Thanks for the positive comments folks, much appreciated, here's one last song. The previous two are played fingerstyle - on this I song I do an imitation plec thing with my forefinger and thumb - it means I can go between both sounds whenever required without picking up an actual plectrum. Deacon Blue, Dignity. Deeks Unionist - Dignity.mp3
  8. Deeks Unionist - Logical.mp3
  9. A bit of Supertramp - The Logical Song - from the same gig, four piece band, my lead vocal and the new Vigier bass, keys/ backing vox, guitarist who doubles on sax with backing vox, and drummer - who just refuses to sing 😆 We use optogates on the three vocal mics, so slight drop out from mine as I back off mic... Deeks Unionist - Logical.mp3
  10. Great speakers, we had a rig with four of these and four bins, two were Mackie, two DB, cracking sound and a great price 👌🏼 GLWTS 😉
  11. Always glad to help Jim 🤭
  12. Black and yellow instead Jim? 🤔🤭
  13. Well worth checking him out @JPJ and he's through your way of course! Lovely compact workshop, the thing that struck me when I first arrived was the amount of guitar cases he had for work that was already in progress. His work on his social media speaks volumes, there are some very tasty instruments that have passed through Gary's hands 👍🏼
  14. This is the route Dave: Stageclix wireless - Korg black tuner - Sansamp Flyrig board - into AH CQ20 desk out to JBL VRX speakers. We are all IEMs so no amps/cabs apart from PA speakers.
  15. Nice one @Hellzero many thanks for your input too Tony 👍🏼😉
  16. Nice one ped, and thanks for your advice when I needed it 👌🏼
  17. Nice one Dave, bit of chorus from my Flyrig on at the end 👍🏼It's still a work in progress but yes, I thoroughly enjoyed finally getting it gigged after the work that's been done. Despite the pup positioning - and it looks at first glance it's not going to make much difference they are so close together - there is a massive difference between bridge to 'neck'. I played safe with no preamp engaged (so no frequency selected, no cut or boost) and that was basically the passive sound, with both pups selected, tone up full...😳 The neck is simply sublime (sorry think I've already overstated that 😆) but the lighter weight compared to my Thumb NT also makes a big difference gig wise, and it's simply lovely to play. I think I may have finally lost my Wal GAS at last, and gone all French....🤔 ......oh hang on, I'll just check my lottery numbers just in case 🤭😆 Yes, the work has been well worth doing, and worth waiting for - and as one of the local bassists in the audience who came up to me said - I've never even seen a Vigier on a stage up here... Well - me neither! 😎
  18. Deeks Unionist - Africa.mp3 Early days so still got to get to grips with the myriad of tones from this bass, this was first night out on Saturday gone.. keyboard singer on lead vox for this one, guitarist high vocal, mine third part harmony, Africa by Toto... headphones recommended 👍🏼
  19. Brilliant Norris 🤣👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 At 63 - and I'm gonna sound very naive here - I've never come across any other band mates who play in a detuned/drop tuning Eb 🫣 Mind you, it would have been great for my vocals with some of the stuff I've attempted to sing over the last few decades 🤣
  20. Liking the chequerboard Warwick-a-like Jim 👏🏼👏🏼👌🏼nice work on them all 👍🏼
  21. First gig with the Vigier tomorrow night, it's taken me a while to go from my 26 fret Thumb neck to this 21 fret bass. Big difference - particularly as I'm singing too. I also renovated the case that it came in, from this.. .....to this. I've fully fitted it out and padded it both top and bottom sections (with Cloud 9 underlay!) and new fur.
  22. Stunning work 👌🏼😲
  23. Quick deal done with Nigel, excellent comms, prompt payment etc, and as said above, top Basschatter - deal with confidence 😎😉
  24. I've just had it confirmed by Patrice Vigier that it's the 16th Passion ii he produced. 👍🏼
