The Crook Hotel for us last night in County Durham. It's a great bar venue, small raised area in a window which normally has dining tables during the day becomes the stage area on a night. We put the black backdrops up and front lights truss to create the illusion of a bigger stage. Always a fantastic and very appreciative crowd in here, and we finally got offstage at 11.45 😳 Finally got my voice back after 4 weeks, now thinking I've been victim of the latest Covid variant with a cough that's lasted four weeks coupled with laryngitis symptoms, not exactly ideal 😖 New strings on the Vigier sounded nice though 👌🏼

The Glasshouse Gateshead last night, Roachford supporting Level 42. Roachford is a superb singer and keys player, with a bass, drummer and guitarist in his band, he gave a fantastic performance and really got the crowd going, we thought he was excellent 👍🏼 This was the 40th anniversary of the World Machine Album, which we saw when it was originally toured at Newcastle City Hall back in the 80's. I've seen Level 42 many times, and this incarnation of the band is IMO the best I've seen, with a trio of brass (tenor sax, trumpet and trombone) and the incredible drumming of Pete Ray Biggin they have reinvented themselves and give a polished and entertaining performance complete with brass section dancing, playing percussion and providing backing vocals. I spent as much time watching the amazing PRB on the kit as I did Mark King, who at 67 still does what he does really well. Previously known as The Sage, this is a fabulous venue for live music of many kinds, and the crowd last night had a fantastic night watching two accomplished bands.

We played Murton Officials Club in a local colliery village 20 minutes from home last night. It's a small club with a fantastic crowd, and one of our favourite gigs, with a very easy hump in and out. After a week with a chesty cough I struggled with my singing, but keys and guitarist helped out and we really enjoyed a brilliant atmosphere. I only use my Cliff Bordwell fretless on three songs, but got sent this pic of me studying the fingerboard between verses..

Great work!! Don't bother being overcharged on a simple decal by the likes of Rothko and Frost - they wanted £57 for my 'complex design' which was simply a take on the Stingray logo 🙄 and since completing my BlazerRay build I've always recommended folk on here to use Rob at https://www.guitardecals.co.uk/ Two (in case you mess up!) top quality ultrathin waterslide transfers to finish your headstock 👍🏼

Loved Sabbath Bloody Sabbath as a younger me, and subsequent albums too, played Paranoid and War Pigs in a band with my mates as a teenager, influential singer/front man who was a larger than life character. RIP Ozzy 👌🏼😞

I watch a bit then fast forward through the acts my Nana would have termed 'tripe' back when she was alive, and I would agree after some of the dross I've seen so far. Strikes me there's some truly dire stuff out there purporting to be music, but then again I must be getting old 😆 Chic however, and in particular that drummer.. Talented band and timeless tunes, witness the crowd involvement 👍🏼
