  1. I do for three songs in our set, with my lovely Cliff Bordwell bass acquired from @Clarky of this parish 😁
  2. I missed out on tickets ☹️ Saw them last year, and the horn section, choreography, and most of all THAT drummer have elevated the band to possibly their best inception IMO. MK and ML are obviously enjoying the new onstage vibe, their collective playing was absolutely brilliant. And yeh, Mark King doesn't just do slap, his finger playing is superb - and then he goes and sings over the top of it! MintπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
  3. Great bit of kit, got them on all my basses so I can drop E to a D, recommended if you need that sort of thing 😜
  4. Lordy be 😳 what a beauty! One string too many for me unfortunately, but GLWTS, that's lovely πŸ˜‰
  5. Absolute beauty, those pickups are so powerful too, would have loved one of these in '79, could only afford a Blazer then though πŸ₯ΊπŸ˜† GLWTSπŸ‘πŸΌ
  6. For me, it was the lack of bass guitar in the mix. I saw these at a local 80's festival last year, and the band were outstanding, and so was the bassist. I was curious to see how good they'd be, and I thought they were really good πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
  7. Oh aye, and that drummer is certainly a bit tasty 😲
  8. I would say (certainly with a covers band) it totally depends on which song the fretless bass is part of. Some songs would demand it, some not. On certain songs from the Paul Young 'No Parlez' and beyond stuff, Pino Palladino played fretless straight with little to no vibrato. Jack Bruce with Cream too. If it enhances what's going on with the bassline, fair enough. Can't say it's ever bugged me watching someone playing fretless with vibrato though.. Mwaaah 😊
  9. Oh, and this one also on fretless. What a great bass line IMO πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ I found this a real challenge to play and sing vocals over the top, but one of my favourite 80's songs πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
  10. Nicely done Mike, it's a great line to play πŸ‘πŸΌ Our guitarist plays the muted trumpet solo on his Roland guitar synth, we see some puzzled looks on faces when he does that on guitar 🀭
  11. My band do New York Minute first half, gives me a chance to play my Cliff Bordwell fretless I bought from @Clarky
  12. +1 here 😁 As said above they have increased dramatically in price. I have them on four of my basses and think they are brilliant πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ Those are great value and an absolute doddle to fit and use. GLWTS πŸ‘πŸΌ
  13. Nice job Sir, looks great! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ πŸ˜‰
  14. I'll tell you what you've missed Mick..🀭 *PICS!* ...or it never happened πŸ˜†
  15. That's a great video of the company we always called H and H πŸ₯΄ I had no idea they were still going, or so instrumental in creating a TV amp used worldwide πŸ‘πŸΌ I'd forgotten I also had the 1x15" bass combo 😁
  16. I had the same model, plus the 100w slave amp, and a WEM copycat going out to two (rarely seen) 4x12 HH dual concentric columns 🀭 Cool looking stuff back in the day πŸ˜†
  17. Bought a Hipshot Dtuner from David, absolutely perfect condition and superbly packaged. Great and prompt comms from a great Basschatter, deal in confidence πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
  18. Bought a preamp from Brian, great chap to deal with, swift response to PM's, complete with pics of Post Office posting receipt. Arrived superbly packaged and in excellent condition too. Deal with confidence, thanks Brian πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
  19. What are your tone control options/ideas? 2 band eq or 3 or passive? I can recommend John East's MM 3 band preamp to compliment that pickup, I used both in my 'BlazerRay' renovation documented on here, they are a fantastic combination but would require a battery compartment and side jack socket πŸ€” Bass looks great tho, nice work! πŸ‘πŸΌ
  20. Beauty πŸ˜²πŸ‘πŸΌ Somebody is going to love that πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ GLWTS
  21. Thats looking great πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
