Hey all. We've just started to do some very basic recording of band rehearsals from the desk straight to PC,with fairly good results too.We want to up the ante now as my mate and band member is in the very lucky position of owning a warehouse which contains the room where we rehearse. Basically the plan is to start doing some multi-track recording rather than everything on the one track. For this I know we'll need some sort of interface but we're both complete dummies when it comes down to digital recording. The band is a 7 piece so I guess a 10 channel interface as a minimum and software to boot. We're not rich but we don't want to buy rubbish as the plan is to turn the room into a fairly decent studio and then offer our services to other bands when the time comes. Sorry about the epic but if you guys have any recommendations for a decent interface I'd be very grateful for any advice on which ones to look at.
I use the Warwick 411 Pro (which is the more expensive 4x10 Warwick cabinet) with a Little Mark II and get plenty of growl with my spector...not sure how the 410 Pro compares to the 411, but I've always been pleased with the range of tones I can get with the 411.
Cheers for that bud. I think the 411 has a horn although I may stand corrected on that one hehe.

Cheers Rasta. My band does a quite a bit of Motown and similar so I guess it should fit the bill then.I'm just a bit worried i'll some some of the growl from my jazzer on some of the funkier ones we do.

Very nice. Tastefully played your good self.

Hey folks. Any of you guys tried or heard the Warwick 410 pro.How does it rate in the world of 410 cabs etc and would it be suited to a Soul band.It says in the Warwick bumph that it does "good vintage tones". It's a 4ohm cab and my thoughts are to pair it with a 4ohm 210 to get the best out of my Yammy amp. Any input gratefully received.

I have a TI jazz flat C surplus to.If the OP wants it let me know.I'll leave it up to him for a couple of days then it'll go foc to whoever wants it.

Hi Craig, No,not at all mate. I just used them last night night at rehearsal.I've never had the chance to hear them cranked before and was very impressed especially as it's just two eight inch speakers. You could probably use them at a small gig with the Ashdown head though.I was just trying to help the sale along. -
Hey all, Just thought i'd post up if anyone in or around the lancs/Manchester area is looking for a good bass/guitar tech. I had a couple of small problems with the Spunkster,"clacking"was the worst of it. Anyhoo I took it along to Phil Hartley in Bolton and I'm totally chuffed with the outcome. He's done a fret dress and full set-up etc and I'm happy to say that my No1 Bass is sorted.I'd be happy to recommend him,he explained all the work that was done and the turn around time/price was very acceptable too.You can find him here.

Ashdown Perfect 10 minirig - no longer available

I had to use the cabs from my minirig for rehearsal tonight, albeit with my Yamaha bbt500h amp.I was mighty impressed to say the least.I've always used them at home in a small room and at low volume till tonight. When pushed they sounded pretty damn good to my ears as well, the rest of the band thought so too. -
Had another bash at it tonight fella's and with quite a bit more success this time.Decent quality recordings were had from the headphone out on the desk rather than tape out.Next week I just need to pay more attention to the levels for each intrument/mic etc. Thanks for the help and for saving us a few bob as well.

Cheers guys, I'll keep at it then and see how we go.

Hey all. I'm not the most computer savy, nor techy minded for that matter so i'm hoping you guys can help. We're wanting to record our rehearsals onto PC from the desk with Audacity. We don't need anything sophisticated at this point and everyone is DI'd.We've been trying using 2 phono's from the tape out from the desk into a 3.5 jack straight to the line in on the sound card.We manage to get a signal to record but there's a hell of a lot of background noise. Do we need to use a firewire/usb interface to solve this or are we going about it in completely the wrong way.Alternatively is there something else we should do.We'd like to keep it to recording thru' the desk onto the PC if possible. Thanks in advance.
Thanks mate. If they can change to body colour for very little extra, then it's an astounding deal. Sounds like you had a good experience with them! Another couple of questions for you - how do you find the neck profile? Simialr to a Jazz, chunkier, thinner? I quite like the necks on the Lakland DJs, so that's my standard for comparison.... And finally - how do you find the upper fret access to be? Thanks again for all your help! Pete
Hey Funkle, I'd say the neck is definitely slightly chunkier than your average Jazzer, any that I've played at least,MIA,MIM and a Squire VMJ etc and I suppose I have fairly small hands but I don't struggle.I was looking for a decent cheapish Jazzer at the time and it was a toss up between the VMJ and this one.I thought the VMJ was a cracker for the money but comparing the quality between my mates VMJ and the Spunkster.....well it's a step above and then some. I've never had the pleasure of playing a Lakland so I can't help you there. As for the dusty end, well I don't venture that way too often but again, when I do have a twiddle up there I've not noticed any problems.

Hey Funkle, Glad you like the look of it I'm pretty sure you can spec the colour but it was the antique white look I was after. If you look on their gallery and Bass body pages there's at least a few more different to look at. From the outset to taking delivery the experience was pleasant indeed.I did have to make a couple of calls to get hold of the guy that puts the basses together but once I managed to speak directly to him on the phone it was a breeze. You will need to speak with Ryu though as I think he's the only one who speaks English. He was constantly updating me via email and was always happy to take my calls. The one thing that I was'nt completely happy with at first was the colour of the Rosewood board as the one that's on my Bass is darker than the one shown on his website. He explained and I don't know if it's true or not that he put a higher grade wood on my Bass as he wanted to make it "more special" for me.Make of that what you will but to me it's now a very minor point. As for build quality and value for money ?? Well for me it's top notch.I'm not the most well off person and a boutique Bass is but a dream for me,well for now at least so I honestly feel that it's the lovliest Bass I could own for the money. I dropped the Bass of this week for a Pro set up with this guy http://www.guitarsetup.co.uk/ His appraisal was that it's equal in build quality/attention to detail to Fender/Gibson guitars, the body/neck wood is of a high quality and the binding work was exceptional. When I told him what I paid for the Bass he was gobsmacked. There you have it and hopefully that's helped you out. BTW, I'm sure he won't mind me saying but Paul @ Prosebass was equally impressed when he saw it.

Ahem !! http://willowsguitar.com/willow_sub10_2.html and....... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...2&hl=spunky Absolutely love mine to bits. Exchange rate as of this evening works out at £251 plus around £60 to ship it.I got lucky with the duty or rather lack of it. Mine worked out at £285 delivered but that was just before the arse dropped out of the £. Pics of mine just before it was sent.

It's a problem eh !! I'm in the midst of trying to put a soul band together(since february),and when i say soul band i don't mean the Commitments. The first guy would play something not too far of the Thomas Lang clip over Donny Hathaways take on "What's goin' On".When I asked him to play it simple the reply was "I'm the F'ing drummer and your F'ing bass player, you don't tell me what to do and i won't tell you what to do.Anyway,he was asked not to come back. The next came twice and did'nt show again,no phone call or anything and he would'nt take my calls, hey ho !! The third guy, He was'nt quite as bad as the first but never looked up at me or any of the band for that matter and it was like playing with a wet fish,no musical conversation at all and not much verbal either.I kept on asking him to keep it simple but after five minutes he'd be back to normal and more often than not too far behind the groove. As nice a bloke as he is I gave up on him last week and had to let him go. We tried out another guy last week,he's 60 if he's a day and does'nt look like he'd have an ounce of Funk in his body, how wrong i was to prejudge.Whadd'ya know, spot on !! a result. Now if i can just get him to stay For me and if your doing Soul/Groove type music it's got to be done with the right feel and in the right way otherwise there's no point doing it in the first place. Looking back over the last few months we'd have progressed faster with a drum machine rather than wasting time with the wrong guys hoping they'd get it.....eventually. Lesson learned !!
