The very lightest tuners (for a Stingray) - advice please

I got a set of Hipshot Ultralite (USA) lollipop style tuners for my Vintera 60s Mustang bass a few weeks ago from Bass Direct for about £120. They are much lighter than the standard Hipshot ones that came fitted. I emailed them first to check the best ones to get. They have the licensed Hipshot ones from £19.50 per machine. I also got a set of fender Infinity Straplocks as these move the strap about 1.5 cm towards the 12th fret.- 12 replies

Manic Street Preachers - a band I love but also one that I feel comfortable that my basslines would have added to the band. -
I bought this second hand a few months ago. I also got a MacBook just after and decided that Garageband, although more limited, was adequate for my needs. So I'm selling the Boss to free up a bit more space in my musicroom/office. I have the original box and cloth case for this, along with a PSU I bought off eBay (they don't come as standard as these machine run on batteries). It also has a 1GB CF memory card installed. The only thing is that the guy I bought it off didn't have the owner's manual but I will include the PDF of it it on a CD-ROM if needed. There are some superficial marks/scratches on the top of the unit but these aren't serious and don't affect it in any way. This is a powerful and versatile little recorder that's about the size of a closed net-book PC. I don't really need all the stuff on this - Garageband does me fine. IIRC that James Dean Bradfield played most or all of the bass on at least the first few Manics Albums. I've also heard that they never miked up Richey's amp on stage as he couldn't play very well. Billy Corgan is also supposed to have recorded most of Darcy Wretsky's bass lines too. IIRC that Anthony Jackson was used for the single of Fishbone's version on Freddie's Dead. -

It's been about a year (I think) since I last posted on here but a few bass-related coincidences convinced me to make more time for this forum, and bass playing in general. My wife convinced me to order a bass from Jon Shuker after we visited his workshop while on holiday in the Peaks last September (seriously, it was all her idea!). I finally placed the order in February/March and got an email from Jon on Friday last week saying my bass should be ready by the end of next week! This just happens to coincide with our annual holiday to the Peaks - so I should be able to pick it up when we are down there next week. Nice one. The other, very sad, coincidence was seeing the tribute to Old Git (Simon) on Shuker's homepage but reading the tribute thread has made me determined to look at this forum regularly.

I'm planning to sell my Wizard 64 and Bad Ass II equipped Squier VM Jazz (70's style with maple neck and natural body) Neepheid made me a rosewood thumb rest and I also have a front pickup cover for it too. PM me if that floats your boat.

Very sad and touching to read this thread - I saw the photo of OG's 5 string Shuker P on the Shuker Bass homepage. I haven't been on this forum for a long time but this has reminded me what a great bunch of people are on here. I'll need to make more time to have a look on here.

I just sold my Ibanez 6 string to Lee and the transaction couldn't have gone better. Instant, no quibbles payment and great communication. A pleasure to deal with and I'm sure my bass has gone to a good home. Top bloke.
