1.
Probably... but how are we to know if we are fooling ourselves. I've tried many of the oft spanked over flatwounds on here and yes they are good and all have their merits and so on but not being one for running with the pack I eventually found that I actually preferred a slightly cheaper range and I don't care that they aren't expensive, it's the sound and feel that are the most important thing.
what kind do use, i'm feeling experimental and unwilling to pay 30 bucks for roto 77s
2. I've got a new guitar now and the wife says one in - one out Happy to negotiate on the price! Bax
3. Hi Guys. Heres some pictures of the guitar and case. As I said the Guitar is a working bass not an ornament so there is some gig wear like swirls in the laquer and a couple of small chips in the binding, but nothing that the camera would pick up. there is a scratch on the underside which did come out in a pic but you couldn't see it if you were playing. the case has a few scratches but thats what its for really. 4. Hi, I need to make some space so i'm sellin one of my artcores. It is an AGB140 strung with flats for a super 60s sound. It is in very good used condition, no damage but a bit of gig wear. I'll try and get some pics if theres any interest. Its at my brothers house as he's recording with it, but it can be done! Now as anyone who has one of these will tell you - they're great basses but you can't take them out because you can't get a case that fits anywhere and they stick out the top of a gigbag. This one has a proper fitted genuine Ibanez case (TKL) that I got from the States - never seen another in the uk -and even that was a effort! Bargain at £250. Will post to UK

11. I owned a 4003 for 12 years as my main player - probably more for the looks than anything else. I sold it because two Ibanez semis that I paid less than half the cost of the Ric combined (!!), both sounded and played better. No denying that the Ric is a fine instrument and supercool to boot, It's just not worth the money. Have you thought about trying a Fender Jaguar.
12. Hi Burrito - it has got a story attached. The bass was my dad's from new. It was refinished in black in the early 70's as the original red nitro finish was wearing down to the wood, I guess it wasn't a very strong laquer! He replaced it with a Fender Jazz bass in 1976 - which he still plays BTW, but it will be mine someday - Sometime in the late 70s the Hofner was half heartedly stripped down as future project but dissapeared from sight and mind. It turned up a few months back when the loft insulation at my parents house was getting redone. I claimed it and gave it to George Russell, local luthier, and he reckoned it was worth saving and gave me projected cost which was within my means - so he got to work. It is still running the original pickups, but all the other electrics were shot and needed replaced. It still has the original tailpiece too. Replacement parts are repro scratchplate, truss cover and knobs. A set of genuine 1960s tuners and new genuine Hofner bridge George has re fretted and cleaned up the neck. Added marker dots to the upper neck binding. Refinished the entire guitar with a slightly aged look to match the tarnished original chromework and tobacco stained binding, items that we weren't willing to replace. So it looks like an old guitar in really good order. Should be getting it this week, the earlier the better - I've a gig in the ABC in Glasgow and I want to give it a whirl then, even just for a couple of songs.
13. My 1964 Verithin - Due to Get it back this week, but here are some tasters of the work done so far.

16. I use a thumbpick, I don't know any other Bass Players who do! Any here?
17. Hi Dave - For the same kind of money, I just wasn't comfortable buying a part that may not be all that reliable! Its a shame because its such a good amp otherwise. I played safe and went for the brand name, As I said it seems no different soundwise. Bax
18. Aye, celestion BL15-250 £60 including UPS postage from www.lean-business.co.uk Gave it a test tonight, seems pretty good - no appreciable difference in sound, maybe the extra 50w from standard will give it a bit more room - if you know what I mean - BTW I also checked Ashdown there's VAT on top of that price pushing it to £70
19. Pop Ashdown Mag300 115 combo Didn't replace with another, got a celestion instead.

21.
Arh location Austin,Texas why were these basses not inported? the AGB140 is an excellent bass, such good value for money but the ASB140 is MUCH better looking. One day i will import one/find one for the darkstar treatment. There is one on ebay at the moment but after shipping and tax it's a little expensive
I brought one back from holidays once - its my weapon of choice! I have the AGB140 as well
