1. Do you have any experience with speakers changing over time? I was juat thinking if there comes a time when you should replace the speakers in your cabs when they have been used regularly. Thoughts? I have an Aguilar tonehammer 500 paired with 2 DB112s, which is a great rig by the way, and sometimes I have to play it at pretty high volumes when the monitoring situation is less than ideal, and was wondering with time do speakers become tired and therefore don't respond in the same way as when they were new? Thanks, James

3. Hi all, Assassin by John Mayer. I love Pino Palladino's original line on this tune, it's so groovy and thoughtful, so I decided to play my own line inspired by a few his ideas. I hope you enjoy it. http://youtu.be/3Io5...tFdyk282SchzJOw James
4. Hi there, Having a clear out and I don't tend to use this case, so it's up for sale. It's in good condition, with all the zips and toggles intact. It is well padded and has a good neck support strap on the inside. Collection from greenwich preferred, but postage at buyer's expense. Specs here: http://www.bassdirec...ags_Stands.html Thanks for reading, James
5. Thanks guys, it's a lovely guitar. Sounds and feels much more expensive than it is. Going down to Bath for a few days, if there's any interest beforehand I shall put it in the car!

7. Sold some strings to Ryan. Everything went swimmingly. Deal with confidence! James
8. Hi Paul, The following info may be helpful... I have an early 90s MIJ '57 reissue, and a few months ago I compared it to a fullerton reissue '57 that was for sale for £1200 at the gallery in camden. The fullerton was a lovely bass, and I would say a better finish on the neck than on my bass, but other than that they looked and sounded very similar. I paid £500 for mine and whilst it's not a JV bass, it's still japanese, so possibly relevant to your question. I would check one out if one turns up, I won't sell mine, it does the job so well! However you won't lose money on a fullerton and if you find one you really like... A great bass for the price. James
9. Sold! And i would say that the strings are quite mellow sounding, soft feel. Best ask soneone else who had them on for more than 10 minutes!
10. Hi guys, Just to say that I did a very similar deal with David a few months ago and the Aguilar was in 'as new' condition as described and has been serving me well ever since. Anyone who buys it will be a happy bunny. This amp with my DB112 cabs kicks ass. And here's a little vid of me using the DI out of the head: http://youtu.be/iVsCTFa3Ieg James
11. Hi Everyone, A little something for anyone who's interested. Pino's baseline from the intro to Brown Sugar by D'Angelo from a live bootleg I have. It's pretty much the first recording I've done in Logic pro X, so still getting used to how it works... I recorded my Mike Lull PJ5 through the DI of an Aguilar Tonehammer 500, into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface, with a bit of compression, but no EQ in logic or on the amp. Thanks for listening, James
12. Thank you for the offer, but I already have a maple necked P bass. Looks lovely though. Anyone out there that likes the snarky puppy bass sound should get this bass!
I suppose my old '76 P bass wouldn't be of interest? All original. Lovely chunky neck: https://imageshack.com/a/ZPlQ/1
Hi everyone, Something's caught my eye, and whilst I would like to keep this bass, it's a bit similar to another bass that I have, so I don't really need this one anymore. It's a shame as it plays so nicely- I have played a few of these custom shop 1960 jazzes on Denmark St. and this is the best one (and lightest) I've played. It is one of those basses that is resonant and responsive. The neck is quarter sawn and therefore very stable. I tune it down a tone or sometimes more to get that Pino/Anthony Jackson detuned fat sound, and it takes it no problem. It's worth saying that I've modded out the stacked knobs and put in a conventional Vol/Vol/Tone with series parallel push/pull switch, fitted at the Bass Gallery in Camden. This turns the pickups into a humbucker and gives a P-bass type sound that you normally cannot get out of a Jazz. Buyer can choose which setup they would like, and renegotiate price if they only want the one. The relicing of this bass is top. It is not over the top like on some I have seen. I am not into the whole relicing thing myself, but I had to have this bass, because of the way it plays. Details: -Fender Custom Shop 1960 Jazz bass relic -3 tone sunburst -Quarter Sawn Maple neck -Rosewood board -Stacked knobs, OR vol/vol/tone with series/parallel switch installed at Bass Gallery, camden. I can put the original back in.. -Original case, all the case candy, Certificate of Authenticity, pickup covers, original sales receipt. -9.1 lbs -Currently strung with La Bella flats, but I have a new set of ernie ball purple packet slinkys that I could put on it if the buyer prefers... -Condition is as new. I have not added to the marks on it! I am based in Greenwich, London, but I spend time in Bath too, so could bring it there. I may be up in Warwick on Monday and could drop it off on the way? Have a listen to it ("Broken" - live recording): https://soundcloud.com/forfeit-street I am also interested in trades of the P bass / 5 String jazz variety. E.g. Sadowsky, Lakland, Mike Lull, Fender Custom Shop... try me. Many thanks, James
