I got half-way through it. They really messed with the wrong guy. I drafted a patent application for the US Patents Office once - bloody nightmare. You have to understand two sets of technical language at once: the legal and the scientific. The head of Blue Jeans Cable clearly understands both. I doubt the in-house lawyers at Monster have the scientific understanding to actually respond.
cant even talk and play let alone sing and play
I know exactly what you mean. I have the same problem.

Oh, that's good. I like that. It can apply to singers in many genres, but I have to say amateur and semi-pro singers who claim to sing jazz seem to be the worst.

After watching that clip I clicked on one of the related ones - now I'm in love.

The drummer sounds like more of a cock than the guitarist! Turning up late AND leaving early?
If it's true it hasn't affected his playing ability
I agree. It was Pete Brown who told me so the chances are it could well be true. -
Looking good! Really intrigued by how this will sound. It makes a lot of sense to have a mid-range speaker and not bother with a tweeter.

Someone was telling me about a jazz gig Jack Bruce was doing in the early 60s on double bass. He was digging into the strings so hard that eventually part of his finger tore off and flew into the crowd. Could be completely bollocks but that's what I heard. -
I'll take a couple when I next go to the studio. In the meantime, this is what it looks like EDIT: Yep, that site's a good source of information on the amp. Somewhere I saw an excerpt from a book which gave a very objective review of the amp.

It's a very unusual amp. They said when it came out that any cab which could take that kind of wattage would be too big to be portable! I don't quite understand the circuitry tbh. Something to do with tapping the output.

I recently purchased a Fender 400PS. Pumps out 435W (with three 4ohm cabs), 290W (with two 4 ohm cabs) and 145W (with one 4 ohm cab). It wasn't explained to me that you wouldn't get the full 435W without three separate cabs. The preamp section I think is pretty much a Bassman circuit. There's a "normal" (as opposed to "bass") channel as well, which sounds awesome for keyboards and guitar - it has reverb and tremolo as well. It's a 70s' oddity but a really interesting amp. I'm going to experiment with different cabs to see how to get the best out of it.
Half the time on open mic nights I'm watching the guitarist's fingers. It's my version of sight-reading.
Haha, it's always the fall-back when you can't hear anything and don't have a chart.
This is true, but you might also have to change the fuse. The user manual will tell you what to do.
That's true. Had to change the fuse on my Aguilar DB680 but not on my Eden WTX-260.

It's a great song - not as well known as some of the others but recorded many times by many blues artists. Check out the Bobby Bland version.

What the hell made him pick obscure arrangements of well known tunes? Isn't the point of a jam session that you come up with whatever arrangement happens to develop onstage? Sitting On Top Of The World by Cream (who are my favourite band) is bollocks compared to the Ray Charles version. EDIT: Just send him a set-list with the obvious... 1. Stormy Monday 2. Rollin' and Tumblin' 3. Hoochie Coochie Man 4. Mannish Boy 5. Sweet Home Chicago 6. St James Infirmary 7. Born Under A Bad Sign 8. All Your Love (I Miss Lovin') 9. Dust My Broom 10. Ain't Nobody's Business
Interesting thought ... is that his statutory rights as a consumer in the UK, or as a consumer in the EU? Are they exactly the same? Anyone know?
I think it's the same across the EU. Could be wrong but I think the law was changed here (and in Germany) to fit with an EU directive harmonising the laws relating to consumer rights.
What will happen to record companies with falling slaes thanks to illegal download?
So long as record companies keep blaming and cheating the consumer and not their own failing, exploitative and unsustainable business model, more of them are going to go out of business. We live in an era where you have samples of samples of covers. A couple of summers ago we had three competing singles, all of which sampled the same awful 80s' pop song. Who's going to pay for that?

Give us a review once you've bought your rig and given it a proper work out. Best not start any new threads about it until then - 4 different threads about the same thing is probably a bit much!

There's the Warwick Taranis when you'd just like to tune a 4 string bass guitar like the lowest four strings of a 5 string: B, E, A, D. Doesn't seem to have taken off at all but I like the idea for some reason.

I would either have them both on, both off, or just have the one on. But have a go experimenting tomorrow - you may discover some great trick that defies explanation.
off topic, but how is your EBS wah one??
Very good wah pedal. Too smooth (and bassy) for some people but I think it's how a bass wah should sound. If you need a wah with more bite then I'd recommend the Snarlin' Dogs Bootzilla wah - crap on all settings but one, which happens to be absolutely superb.
Duracell Procells have been recommended to me and seem to be an industry standard. You can find good deals from bulk suppliers on Ebay. Before I was running rechargables and getting into all sorts of strife as they lost charge very suddenly.
They have the Procells at Battery Force too - they appear to be a fair bit cheaper than the Coppertops as well. I can't tell from the Duracell site which is actually "better" but it is fairly clear that the Procells are aimed at industrial applications while the Coppertops are aimed at consumers. I doubt I'd be able to hear any difference!
