  1. This bass look fabulous and for the money is tremendous value…. If I was in the market for a new bass this would be top of the list
  2. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  3. I can attest to Olinto P basses being the bomb…. Mine is fabulous and Scott loves his…..
  4. Bugger would have been ideal for a recording project I’m busy working on Great you sold it though
  5. Agreed as long as you get your right hand technique together you can pretty much get the same sound but more plumier and fatter it can be less defined than a longer scale bass but within the group context but with the right EQ etc. It sounds fine. I’ve been using short scale DR Sunbeams 45 - 125 they sound good but a little to stiff more me.... I have some short scale Dunlop Super Bright in Nickel on order, these are more flexible and airey and have that really pleasant splank ring to them.....
  6. So apologies in advance I wasn’t intentionally trying to promote another builders instruments and take away from the Sterling work done by Andy your bass looks beautiful, and for complete transparency I did work for Overwater Basses for 18 years... My point was I to see how many people on here play short scale 5 strings and to gauge what the feeling So I got in 30” scale instruments for health reasons firstly and secondly because I’ve been studying with Evan Marien for the last 18 months and he’s introduced me t a 30” scale 5 string instrument.... Though my guitar friend has been on at me for years to go down the short scale route. Obviously I’m interested in jazz & fusion improvisation.... Evan’s solo voice is something I really identify with and so I started taking lessons.... Because of health issues and having relatively small hands I’ve found the 30” a god send... There elements to playing a 30” B string which are very different especially with your right hand and you certainly have to adjust to the closer together notes placement on the fretboard but I love it. I also have another 30.5” 5 string made from different materials etc. Anyone else have experience with a 30” scale 5 string
  7. Hi Alan hope you are well sorry it’s been so long since we’ve had a chat (it’s Laurence from Carlisle) I was just showing a 30” scale 5 string with a low B to demonstrate it can be done and that it actually works, I also have a Serek 5 string 30” scale that is great as well. Simone (Martyn) like you developed the Blaze RAS signature bass shape along side bass virtuoso Robson Albuquerque, which he’s been doing for a quite a few years... Cheers Laurence
  8. Not sure Alan makes a few different shapes.... Martyn’s are made from indigenous Brazilian woods I’ve never heard of but sound amazing
  9. I have this 30” scale 5 string on order from S.Martyn Basses it’s a Blaze RAS
  10. I’ve met Sean a few times and watched him record tracks in Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, he used his 60’s B15 the cab was miked in an isolated room can’t remember what the DI was but it wasn’t a Noble but this was back in 2014 - 2015.... Sounded amazing
  11. That’s lush wish I’d seen it before I ordered my Moollon PB 4 relic
  12. Hi Clarky I use a Barber Electronics Linden it’s designed to emulate a B15 which is why I got it. I stick a Nightowl Industries Edison Valve Pre-amp in front of it and run it through an Audio Kitchen Valve Small Trees DI which has been modified with a Souter transformer..... The Linden sounds great on it’s own.... Putting the Edison in front of it adds this extra valve syrup goodness.... ACME do a specific Motown DI which sounds ace as well. My friend Brian uses one on some of sessions in Nashville... He also has a new Ampeg 50watt valve head and he says that sounds wicked.
  13. Thanks guys if this illness would just do one I would keep her but it’s been 2 years now.., So it ain’t going anywhere soon...
  14. 9lbs or just under my scales ain’t that accurate
  15. A 2018 Overwater J-Series 5 Classic 34” scale, 19mm string spacing. This has a Swamp Ash Body, a bound Figured Birdseye Maple neck and fretboard with black front dots and Lumini side dots. The pickups have just been upgraded to the new Overwater Alnico silent pickups the plastic is still on them... It has a John East E-Pro circuit with his new Fender style knobs.... It has Hipshot Lollipop tuners and Overwater’s own bridge. It comes with an Overwater Hiscox case. Plays like a dream and has an extensive sound pallet... This bass would set you over £ 3500.00 the Overwater website with white finish and bound fingerboard. Why am I selling this beauty... Due to constant Diverticulitis issues and major surgery I haven’t being able to play a standard scale and weight 5 string since March 2019, hence the bass is in excellent condition, plays and sounds superb but because of the reasons above I can’t really play her, I think I only gig her once or twice.... I now play a 30” scale light weight bass and have another on the way with narrow string spacing.... I’m looking for a straight sale not interested in trades as I have another bass on order.... Price is £ 1995.00 or nearest sensible offers... I used to work for Overwater basses so you’ll know this bass is a proper player’s bass.....
  16. So when you order one specify pole piece positioning exact placement.
  17. Yep the poles are slightly out of line but I don’t even think about as doesn’t affect the sound at all and the bass is just fabulous to play. I’ve played a few high end P Basses I have a Moollon on order as we speak. I played Chris Cheney’s Pino CS and Sean Hurley’s 61 and signature CS they’re all great. Scott @scottsbasslessons just got his new 60’s Olinto P Bass in reliced Gold check out his YT.
  18. It’s Fender Jag style mute you flip on or off.
  19. This Timothy Chan’s Olinto P Bass from Uni-sound in Hong Kong it’s very very cool and sounds epic
