I enjoyed the show, tried some lovely basses. Was planning to try stuff to inform a later buying decision.
Left with a lovely 1987 stingray from @walshy

It’s by far the nicest (and priciest) bass I’ve ever owned. But I couldn’t resist.
    Thanks @walshy and @AndyTravis

    An absolute pleasure @Kyndainverse

that bass is an absolute peach!!!

  2. Right - reality kicks in - I’ve got a studio session to pay for and I’ve been buying like crazy recently

This worked wonderfully for my last band - but with the orange 414 and this sitting unused for months…

    It’s time to go.

Just changed my entire amp set up and need to recoup costs.

£15 to ship in UK - will come wrapped to within an inch of its life.

I bloody love this bass. Isn’t going to be a happy sale.

EDF Energy. About to go to the Ombudsman for the third time (won the last two). How this company still exists is beyond me.

    Oh yeah - these Twunts.

When Mrs T used them when she was living alone, and l had to battle when they tried to sting her for leaving.

Scottish Power I had run ins with too…

They had what was claimed to be Gary "Mani" Mounfield's Rickenbacker 4005 in Hank's Guitar Shop a few years ago, priced at a *cough* reasonable £12,995 if memory serves. I asked to try it out, since I love a semi-acoustic bass and at the time I owned a Shaftesbury which was supposed to be a clone of the 4005. After a lot of bad tempered huffing and puffing from the staff (standard for most of the shops in London's Tin Pan Alley), they finally considered me worthy of playing said bass. It actually looked like it had been a great instrument at some point, but by then it was in a terrible state with an action you could drive a bus under. The neck was like a Rick 4001 or 4003, very wide and flat, so very much an acquired taste and totally unlike the skinny neck of my Shaftesbury. The sound though, even with pickups way too far from the rusty strings, was very much what I'd want from a semi-acoustic. if RIC under Ben Hall's control are going to be a bit more customer friendly, then I hope they also reissue the 400 series guitars - a six string in the shape of a 4000 series bass, and possibly the only thing that could tempt me to the dark side.

    They’ve been doing them too

  5. Righto - cheap, big loud rig.

I’ve listed the head separately. This has a minor issue with the valve pre section - but it’s very loud and lovely without any other issues.

so will sell head for £100

    cab for £100

or £180 collected for the pair

    i have bought a ha5500

and sourced a couple of 112 cabs to try to recreate my Vanderklay 212 I miss.

come and get it - or Man and Van delivery would probably be available for £50 ish.

realistically it needs to be collectIMG_7008.thumb.jpeg.47ae80b5bd154eb6f865ade385adf972.jpeg35F29FDF-6D92-4E34-AD87-408DBB6628B8.thumb.jpeg.edb769720b48fab36232e1985d2c47d8.jpeged

Fantastic! Doubtless far beyond affordable, but it's wonderful to see them back. Why they didn't do this instead of the Mickey Mouse 4005 in the first place is beyond me but they got there in the end!

Dear old JH always swore he'd never reissue these 😄

    If it’s £6500 I wouldn’t be surprised…

I saw this bass in a video - blew my head off as an emerging manc bass player.

”NOEL’S PLAYING A RICKY BASS! WTF is it?!”

Always thought it was a bit of a dig that the first post-Guigsy oasis tune had a really prominent bass part.

Yeah thanks Andy, the more I look at this more I like the metal tailpiece....so now I've got to learn how to machine, bend and galvanize metal.  Like I don't already have enough other things to do.  So great, thanks.....

    Uhm. Sorry…

34” and wine red with a gold soap bar at the neck for the next one, yeah? 🥳😉

Wow, that is nice!  I've never heard of it but the resemblance is striking.  Just goes to show there's nothing new in guitar making!  Here's another one in stunning sunburst...

Yeah, that’s an original 60’s job.

I recall being fascinated by the 1990’s reissue on the rare occasion they’d appear in a guitar shop.

    So cool.
