  1. Bought this beauty from Gyrus last month…

it was bought to be a “spare” but ended up so much more…

so, I bought it with a Squier pickup and loom, dodgy tuners (listed as such).

    first move - tuners.

1980’s Tokai Japan units - work well, big backplate jobbies…

then a posh p pickup - Lakland USA unit

Brand new strap buttons - Gotoh oversized fitted…

    and a new fender pickup cover/ashtray fitted…

    the good…

    it plays and sounds ace

    its very light - 8lbs

it really, really looks the part

the neck is gorgeous, maple cap on maple, truss Rod works well

    the bad…well, not horrific

body is a ply job, but it’s decent

pickup is a bit misaligned - on d/g side, there is a pickguard on the way to sort, if it arrives after you buy it; I’ll post it on.

Body is probably 80’s Korean or Japanese

Neck is 70’s Japanese; the decal is over the lacquer so can be sanded off - but it looks ace.

there are marks/dinks/scratches. But it’s a very solid bass. Sounds warm and lovely, but can bite/spank.

postage will be £20 in UK

    i will accept

    cash on collection

    bank transfers

PP G&S (I can invoice for pp credit) - plus fees

PP F&F if I know you or have sold to you before.

only reason for sale is that a Yamaha I’ve been after has come up…

    ta

  2. The Napster/some kind of monster stuff was the end really.

“: At that time, the managers suggested that we have a psychotherapist come in. A man that meets with pro ball teams, you know - big-ego, big-dollar guys that can't get along, but have to make some kind of entity flow, so everybody else and everybody can make the money. And, uh, I actually said, "I think that this is really f*cking *lame* - weak - that we cannot get together. Us! Look - the *biggest heavy band of all time*! The things we've been through and decisions we've made... about squillions of dollars and squillions of people... and this? We can't get over this?"

    He was right.

And coincidentally they’ve done nowt worth a hoot in the time since…which is a shame.

  3. Was interesting.

We usually record with a zoom H2 thing for reference, but we have discussed plumbing everything into an interface.

Bit of a learning curve as none of us are sound engineers - but we can all record at home.

So we managed it in the end with some support from a mate of the band.

    Recorded 4 tracks…here’s one

Think this was our 8th rehearsal

  4.

These are the 4 we did yesterday - everything DI’d/Mic’d up.

Drummer was out of shot, it’s a shared room so his kit is way over to the left.

Looking at sorting some way to multi angle etc.

But this was just to see how much better being able to mix was rather than h2 room.

Drummer is getting an x32 at some point.

    Enjoy!

I love the amps and cabs. Somehow wrangled an artist deal with them after being blown away by a Hartke rig at a festival. It has the sound that I love!

You’ll know better than me then.

    is this cab early 90’s?

If you want to save your back the HL Cabs are amazing! Not the same tone or heavy 90s nostalgia as the XL series though!!

    It’s the tone.

haven’t played Hartke for years, tonight I plugged in and turned up…that “edge” is…PHWOAR
