24 years ago… I saw this bass in a video - blew my head off as an emerging manc bass player. ”NOEL’S PLAYING A RICKY BASS! WTF is it?!” Always thought it was a bit of a dig that the first post-Guigsy oasis tune had a really prominent bass part.

@pedcan we add a “wow” emoji to the menu 😳😲😵💫

Anyone hazard to guess a price?! And yes…I’m going to start saving…
-
Uhm. Sorry… 34” and wine red with a gold soap bar at the neck for the next one, yeah? 🥳😉
-
Yeah, that’s an original 60’s job. I recall being fascinated by the 1990’s reissue on the rare occasion they’d appear in a guitar shop. So cool.

I had a dream last night where I was playing an Epiphone Howard Roberts…but it was a bass. Then I realised I’d been staring at your builds…

Ehm… Ejector seat? (no idea unfortunately)

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
AndyTravis replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Was good - in my preferred room (we use 2 places to rehearse) Worked on a new idea of mine - which will be a very lovely Elbow-esque tune. We’re now at 10 original tunes. I’d say 7 are gig/record ready. A couple are proving harder to get across the finish line. But now the 7 are set - the other 3 should fall into place. Used the rooms Ashdown - missed my Hartke rig, but the 410xl up 3 flights of narrow stairs is a killer. Myself and the singer want this to be our permanent space…he has an interest in the room, I’d prefer to leave my rig set up. Guitarist and Keys player are more stand off ish about it. We’ll see: I prefer it as a space. Ripper was perfect. El Chupa Cabré bastard bandito bass was a bit troublesome - I’ve cleaned the pots out and will get a separate eq pedal in the signal path…I guess 40 year old piezo tech hasn’t aged well. -
32” is the killer for me too

I foresee one of these in my future 🫣

Which companies are dead to you?
AndyTravis replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Yeah - I won’t use Halfords for anything. They f*cked up an order for 2 Graco car seats no less than 4 times… Absolute moron soup of a company. -
They’re doing that colour now… Wowzah… The gold guard would make way for aged Pearl… Nowhere carries them though 🫤

It’s neck through - a couple of shots show neck join

It’s a Deviser made bass from the absolute death throes of BC. Was also sold as a Godlyke. A bass I had, and should not have sold…but I did get to own a Flea Modulus as a result…another bass I should’ve kept. meh. looks nice that.

Yeah they’re just what I want - enough to mess about with, but not too many bells and whistles. The 5500 is just an extravagance as this is plenty loud enough.
-
I’ve listed the head for sale as I’ve just landed the 5500 I was after for ages Andy

Got this wonderful thing with a cab last month - I’d been looking for a 5500 in a sleeve head, which I’ve now found. It appears to be an amp from a combo in a new rack sleeve. The good is that it’s loud, and not ridiculously heavy. It will happily do band volume at ease into 1 8 ohm cab, so I suspect it’s earth destroyingly loud through 2 8 ohm cabs… The sleeve is cool and tidy. DI signal is ace - did some recording with it last month. the bad… The valve preamp control does nothing - I have tried a new valve (lots of suggestions online that this is commonly the reason for no sound from valve pre control). Thats really it. i replaced the knobs - but will be able to provide a full compliment of Hartke knobs if you’d prefer. One of the silver caps is missing. I’d prefer to keep my new black/blue knobs for the new amp. Not end of the world either way. Collection preferred in Manchester M27, but postage can be looked into - it won’t be cheap… Amp fiddlers may be able to sort the valve pre issue…I stop at replacing preamp valves really…

When THAT person steps into your band!
AndyTravis replied to warwickhunt's topic in General Discussion
There have been several instances for me. my previous drummer and guitarist - just wonderful. Saved a dying project - well, for long enough to get an EP together. this new band have been a joy to join - I joined with a drummer pal and we got this message after a couple of weeks; Ive also had people join things which have ended up being the nail in the coffin. But yea @warwickhuntwhen it’s right, it’s an amazing feeling.
