Unfortunately I haven't got an Aloe Vera plant, but I'm seriously considering getting one. For now perhaps I'll have to settle for drinking a gallon of coffee and p1ssing on my hands

The poll settings haven't heard of proportional rep, it won't let me vote twice

I like that. Congrats. No more GAS, until the next is what you mean isn't it.

I simply cannot sing. It would be criminal to inflict that much pain and suffering on people. It' also complicated by the fact that as soon as I try to sing my fingers stop moving.

How Can You Justify Spending £5,350 on a New Bass??

Damned deja vue again. Think I keep reading the same post twice. Could be an echo on the forum. Hmmm. Either that or I need my eyes tested. -
If someone asks I've never had a problem tbh! I'm just nice like that!
EDITED: just wasn't appropriate the first post I did . Damn there go my chances of being asked to be a mod, must remember to be more mature. Only kidding mate, still listening to that tune you put on here, luvin' it.
I generally let properly interested parties have a go, especially kids I'm with OG on that one, light the fire and all. I never let pissed punters near my gear though and will defend with considerable force if necessary. I once did a corporate gig for a leading firm of stadium builders (for the Manchester commonwealth games site launch) and a pissed up guy came up and asked the guitar player if he could have a go, the guitarist was a shy retiring type so I leaned over and asked the guy, "what car do you drive?" "Porsche" came the reply, I said, "tell you what, give me a bottle wine and your keys, and I'll let you go on his guitar" He declined.
Brilliant. Like the fact you asked for a bottle of wine as well, not just the keys, just to drive the point home. From bitter experience I never let anyone near my gear, but since I'm 'inactive' at the moment there is little need to worry. The last time someone borrowed my gear they blew my amp apart. So now the answer is leave it alone. Saying that I do let the kids sometimes have a small go, very supervised, so they get interested in music. That's where I draw the line.

I had a break for 15 years and I'm still as f@cking useless as I was back then. Note to self - get lessons

Does it work on hands that have completely dried out and started to split open? I work outside and the current weather plays absolute havoc with my hands. I moisturise, but to little effect. Currently the tips of my index and big fingers on both hands have split open and so to has my left thumb. I was just about to put in some serious practice this week and start a proper practice regime sort of thing, that's all up the spout now. I'll have to wait for my hands to heal again.
Owl City - Fireflies Really really love this song, things its such a well written song! His style of singing kinda bugs be a bit, but the songs toooo good
Afraid I can't abide it, for the very simple reason that it must be played countless times on the radio when I'm at work. What was probably a fine song has now become my nemesis. Familiarity breeds contempt sort of thing.
Actually, you said piss off and practice or something. I have just put the laundry on and am now about to do the recycling, wash up, cook dinner, record a bass track for a mate's album, and start rehearsing for Saturday's gig. Does any of that count?
Don't fancy popping around my gaff do you? There's a pile of ironing needs doing -
I've just run through the promo vid on the Ibanez website. How small is that? It is unbelievably small and some really good features. Have to admit I'd be really tempted. Maybe on its own for small gigs and put it together with an external cab, you've got a lot of volume. You lucky man
Before I get seriously involved in this discussion can someone confirm that the bass in question is this one: Rather than the one that's been posted previously in this thread.
well it's either that one or one very similar -
If it's new you want, like a few of the others have suggested, I'd go for the Line 6. Had a go on one when I bought my Ibby, it was a cracking little amp. I just couldn't quite stretch my budget to get one though.
-
I bought an Ibanez swx35. It's got plenty enough of features, CD/MP3 input, headphone socket, line out and other stuff. Does alright for me. Can be a bit hissy. Would probably suggest the perfect 10 though, or possibly a Line 6 if he can stretch that far.(not quite sure about their price, TBH)
andy apple would sparkle a bit the red sparkle one is majorly sparkly i know what you mean about the blue one it is a really nice blue and i would agree the maple would look lovely on that too im hoping to see a CA one in a few days with the rose wood and the maple neck i got to travel a little way to see it but it will be worth it. I know maple isnt for everyone but im a bit of a fan on it to be honest i have a cream p bass with a white scratch plate and i want to put a maple neck on that i think it would amaizing with it on but i may not bother once o got the ianez as it might look a little OTT with them both being maple necks we will see. Markus
I would have probably felt differently if I'd got the maple neck, and not been keen on the rosewood All said it's a very good bass for the money. It was either the SR300 or a Squire VMJ, both very good but the Ibby felt more me. All the best with your new purchase Rich
A debate is like a fine chocolate truffle which requires both sugar and salt. 'Live and let live' is the sugar. The robustness with which one advances one's position is the salt. Too much of either and it is a poor truffle. Personally, I incline towards tolerance with an almost psychopathic obsession. Next year's Nobel peace prize will be mine and I don't care who I have to kill to get it.
I tend to veer widely from sugar and then to salt. Suffice to say my truffles do not taste very nice I go from being very tolerant to verging on being a disciple of Trotsky and questioning everything, there must be permanent revolution. I'm in a salty mood today -
Three things .. Just because I word things in a slightly provocative manner does not mean I am being negative, and the implication that "there is something wrong with people who are happy to pay that amount of money for something they like" was just a bit of banter. You said, live and let live, I used the Mugabe reference in relation to that. Nothing to do with spending £5k on a GUS. I am terribly sorry you have facial neuralgia, that must be a real pisser. You'll probably find most of us have something wrong with us, or have some emotional stresses. I myself have have had ectopic eczema since birth (bad enough to have been studied by the Royal Free) and have just developed dry eye syndrome which is rather annoying. There are things that make up for these things, like buying an Oly White and dark tort vintage Fender Jazz or being in posession of a monster penis.
Is it on loan from someone or did you pinch it. -
Good, cause I can't either. Vent over. EDIT: I'm generally pissed off with everyone who can't live and let live. Of course there's a monumental irony in there but hey, that's life.
Live and let live is akin to continually sitting on that fence, which becomes ultimately very painful. If you see something you don't agree with, that you think is wrong or morally indefensible then stand up and say your piece. The price tag is ridiculous, no amount of r&d or cost of materials and labour could justify the amount asked for that instrument, the figures simply don't stack up. And if someone wants to criticise the notion someone else is willing to pay that much, then they should. Now where did I put that moral compass of mine. -
Yes!
(in game show host style) You're wrrrrrrong I'm afraid, so you don't win a prize. Also the analogy between expensive basses and why buy a Porsche when you can have a Fiesta, just doesn't stack up. At the risk of getting ripped apart by the rest of you, the difference between say a standard stock instrument of very good quality and reasonable price tag and these very expensive basses is just simply not that big. You argue about materials, craftsmenship, core tone, electronics and all the other bits, the gap is not that big. Why can Fodera charge that much, because we've all become self indulgent and selfish. 'Oh I couldn't possibly pay a little more tax so someone can have maybe the access to life saving cancer drugs' but I can indulge myself in very expensive well anything. It's crap just admit it. We're all hypocrites. Waits for the wrath of basschaters to ensue.
