    I've found that Stingray5's have a decent B string, even if they still haven't got the string spacing right... The most comments I've had on the solidity of a B string, is this TRB5 Mk1 I bought new around '98. I used it quite a bit for around 15 years:

    Agreed. I've found the further up the neck, the more the timbre changes and the more overtones. The B is designed to be more efficient at lower frequencies obviously.

    2.50: I agree with chris_b above, the thumb should act as a pivot, the angle of which you can adjust for what you are playing.

    A bass is always going to be a problem to move in one piece. Take the neck off, and do it in two inconspicuous trips. Once inside, reassemble and hide it behind the others. If you get caught out in the open with it, I'm afraid gas-lighting is probably the best resort. Tell her you've had it for years.

    A Jazz bass with a ramp, something not to weighty. I've spent thousands trying to find something that wasn't a Jazz bass but sounded like a Jazz bass. When I should have just bought a Jazz based bass.
