  1. To me it just sounds like the same music school students.
  2. Which one of those tracks sounds like funk?
  3. And what he's endorsing with that company is basically absurd bastardised StingRays, with the eq taken out. So now EBMM are trying to make their version of a Jazz bass... “What the advertiser needs to know is not what is right about the product but what is wrong about the buyer.” Neil Postman, Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business.
  4. This sounds like funk: This is not, far from it: It sounds like a bunch of music school students.
  5. An acoustic set, followed by a rousing chorus of Kumbaya, to bring everyone together.
  6. Bars I've played in the past that were not happy with them, taped a piece of sponge over the front, where the mic grill is. Jus' sayin'.
  7. The venue does sound overly cautious, as if they have had a smack on the wrist before. It's going to be a rinky dink gig, whether it's worth it or not is up to you.
  8. I have changed my mind on an endorsement and returned the bass, not Warwick's fault, but that neck profile is not for me. One of many points I like about Pino, is that he didn't splash his name on any old thing until much later in the game. And as far as I'm aware, that's just the Fender.
  9. I can't wait for the EBMM Joe Dart Coffee Pot, Cup and Coaster set. It has Joe's smiling fizog emblazoned on each piece. Just like the EBMM Joe Dart Duvet cover and Pillow cases... Joe Dart, what a tart.
  10. I've a nice used pair I could forward to you, if you would so desire to have them. Only 3 years old, just run in. Don't say I never do anything for you.
  11. For cased basses, Something tall enough, open fronted with removable shelves. You would need to check the depth of the unit for the cases.
  12. I've tried them in .45 and liked them but I still missed a little lower tension. They are softer, but not super soft.
  13. I make the effort. My underpants get washed every three weeks whether they need it or not.
  14. I know the preamp from the Sire V7 5 string I have but I only found out about the switching from a little video on the bass. It should arrive tomorrow, but the strings I use will be a couple of days.
  15. "Gaye was desperate to have Jamerson play on "What's Going On", and went to several bars to find the bassist. When he did, he brought Jamerson to the studio, but Jamerson was too intoxicated to stay upright, so James played the classic line while lying flat on his back." That's really wanting someone to play on your record, even if they are full of Metaxa.
  16. The rear switch is active/ passive. The other two forward of it are 3 position switches, series, parallel and single coils, apparently.
  17. A sense of time is essential... It sounds like he's been on the ale.
  18. Elites Stadium 40-100, 125 on a five. Softer tension, I like to try and emulate synth vib and modulation.
  19. I've used Elites for around 25 years, both the nickel and the s/s. They are a softer tension than most other brands I've tried over the years. They last just as long as anything else IME. In hundreds of strings I've never had a duff one. Which is more than I can say for Rotosound. The last time, admittedly years ago, I took the bass fitted with Roto's to the shop and played it for them. They gave me a refund.
  20. Playing nightclubs before the smoking ban, usually something long sleeved. Whatever it was you'd want to take it off as soon as you got back. It smelt like you'd been rolling around in a gorse fire, and was coated in a thin layer of tar.
