1.
Yep, believe it or, I'm also thinking I'm starting to GAS for a Precision too and I'm such a Warwick lover. But I'm also convinced I'd get bored to death with it very quickly.
Make sure you get a springy one My theory is they're so utilitarian and fit for purpose that you can just get on with the fun music stuff.
2.
Damn! I've got tickets to see someone else that night. Hmmmm ... The Jetsonics at the Half Moon ... Status Quo at Hammersmith Odeon ... hmmm ... tough call ...
You'll be going for the Softer Ride along with our sound man TC.
3. Short notice gig at our favourite venue Thrills, Spills and Power Pop in SW15. Unbearably cool flyer to follow. We're on at 10pm supports to be confirmed.
4.
I think it should have four strings for some songs but five for others, so we need a Low B that can sink into the fingerboard and lie flush when not needed. In similar vein, and pre-empting the fretted -v- fretless discussion, it needs to be both of course. That clever design which used to get posted every few months, the one where the frets can sink into the fingerboard and lie flush when not needed, would be ideal. As to pickups, it needs both one and two. So what we need is a pickup design which can sink into the fingerboard ... oh no ... wait ...
This could work. 5.
Cheers Ad, sorry I couldn't make the Jetsonics' Ealing gig but I was throwing myself off the edge of a mountain in Switzerland at the time
I heard you were pushed.
6. Should be OK for this one Mr C.
7. Thanks all for coming. Especially Silvia for the lovely photos and Nigel and mate Steve for top dance moves. First real gig at this venue. I hope they can make a success of it. It's a lovely place.
8.
I'm there, hopefully with a mate.
Excellent!
9. Support now from annoyingly young and good local band the Grifters. This should be a good fun old school knees up.
10. If it sounds alright I don't see the problem?
11. If I can't bash something half decent out in 15 minutes it's time to move on to another song project.
12.
As far as music is concerned, we all go through phases I think. Sometimes you just need a to take a holiday form a certain type of music or band.
True. My musical holiday was a caravan park in Rhyl. It was raining.
13. I had a bit of a classic rock phase a few years ago. Cream, Led Zeppelin and Bad Company. They All sound a bit over long and bombastic again to me. I haven't listended to any of them for a few years now. Still partial to a bit of early Deep Purple though.
14. Just remember. You'll never be as good as the original.
15. Normally brilliant on here. Recently though. "I'm a student. Please can you put it by for me for three weeks? I really want it. I'm just getting the money together and we can arrange payment and pick up then." Three weeks pass . "Do you still want it?" "I forgot all about the bass. Sorry dude. I don't want it now." Not the end of the world. Made me a feel a little more Alf Garnett than usual though.
16.
Just seen the poster over on Facebook... very stylish
Thanks. The venue flyer bought out the font nazi in me. Took half an hour on the ipad while 'er indoors was watching Eastenders last night.
17.
I'm lucky enough to have spent almost my whole life playing with incredible songwriters, so... I don't write much. I like arranging and adding bits. And taking bits away.
That's songwriting in my book. A little tweak is often all a song needs to take it from being OK to being great.
18. It's by far the bit I like best about being in the band. Taking a few scribbles on a bit of paper to a full blown song. Usually I'll bring lyrics in and the guitarist is will come up with most of the tune then I'll add a chorus or middle bit. The drummer will often take the thing off in a different direction too. We constatntly evolve them too. We've re-written a couple of 3 year old songs that have slightly different lyrics and almost totally different tunes. Lyric writing is also the thing I have most trouble with. I frequently suffer terrible writers block. My tip is listen to the rest of the band and anyone else who you respect that you can get to listen. Be prepared to drop what you think is a good line, riff, whole verse or chord for the good of the song. You can frequently use them in a different song at a later date.
19. Hideous. Looks like a cut and shut or what happens when Gibsons too close marry.
20. We're playing our first Royale Records event at the Fiddlers Elbow, Camden this Saturday. We're on first at 8.45 followed by Mr Bridger and the Electric Stars. A power poppy moddy garagey psychelia night is on the cards. Why not pop in after you've bought your spiked PVC t shirt from the Market?
