1. I'd leave the cab on the floor and boost the mids a bit James. You can always angle it back a bit with some timber or a dead rabbit.
 2. I realise that I'm probably going to have to split this to sell it so the power amp is up for sale separately and if that sells, I'll sell the preamp to the highest bidder.
 3. This is a serious amp in excellent condition that would set you back over £800 new. Look here for specs etc. http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~Q...102~ID~4829.asp. £380 no £ offers but may swap for a mint condition Markbass SA450, Aguilar AG500 or something similar with cash adjustment. Would prefer to meet / deliver if it's a reasonable distance. Actual unit pictured here..
 4.
Get good pet insurance. It's got to be worth it in the long run.
But it's not my dog
 5.
Trade for Iamp800?
Sorry Steve - no trades as stated.
If this is the one I think it is then it's a bit of a high class tart. I bought her from Walbasist and then sold her to Paul_C who sold her to .......... So what comes next Al.
Dunno really Dave. I gave in to Flanker's pleas to have his Epi 212NYC back and swapped it for two tiny Bergantino 112s - which I'm delighted with (and so is my back). I remember being at my happiest rig-wise (although I didn't realise it at the time ) when I had my LMII head and two Aggie GS112s, so I'm thinking something small, light and loud. At the moment I've got Epifani 502 / Markbass SA450 / Thunderfunk in my head. That said, I won't lose any sleep if this doesn't sell.
 6. Oh poo - I hope our dog's alright
 7. I bought this off my good mate Flanker a couple of months ago, it's an amazing piece of kit but as usual, I bought it without thinking first and to be honest, it's way over the top for a Saturday night plonker like me. This is a serious pro rig in excellent condition - the volume on the amp has never been past 9 o' clock. The preamp is the much sought after EBS Classic V1 and it's nothing short of fabulous. It has a fantastic compressor built in and endless tone-shaping features. The amp is a QSC PLX2 3102 and it could part the hair on a pig's arse at 100 paces. It is light and seriously loud - specs from QSC site here; http://www.qscaudio.com/products/amps/plx2...cifications.htm I would prefer to sell it as a unit and would like to recover the £800 I paid for it but in these impoverished times that's unlikely. So it's yours for £750 c/w Gator case. It's a bargain at that price so no offers / swaps and it's strictly collect or meet only. I will accept £380 for the poweramp only and if that sells, I'll offer the preamp up separately later. More pics on request.
 8. Ooh ta
 9. I went to Steve's house - and a very nice house it is. He took me up to his bedroom and twenty minutes later I left with the money. Ahem...Steve's a proper lad and a pleasure to do business with. Buy/sell with confidence.
 10. I know I'm technically challenged so does anyone know how I can mute my bass when tuning up on stage with my Korg DTR1000? I use seperate pre/power and I'll bet I've just got the link in the wrong socket. Help muchly appreciated.
 11. Sure thing spree, it'll be there
 12. Be great to see you there Russ
 13.
Nice Al, very nice. Have you tried Thomastik flats? Nice bright click to them, not at all woolly like some flats I've tried, they were magic on that Lakland JO4 I had from Mike. Can you believe I'm on the brink of buying another Marcus Jazz? After selling the one I had from you, and regretting it about 5 minutes later. If I don't get it, a Lakland DJ4 might be next on the hitlist, haven't decided yet.
Hello mate, they are TI flats I've got on it and I love 'em to bits but the others don't like the sound of flats. They're a funny bunch - I'm trading my Epi 212 cab for two Bergantino 112s today and they're up in arms about it. After all, Berg cabs are crap aren't they
 14. I've played this bass - it's a stunner. Envious of Preston.
 15. Gawd I loved this bass Jo - it's a beauty.
 16.
That's a very nice looking P you have there Alan. A Thumper arrived for me today for my new 'project'. Peter
Thanks Peter, you'll love the Thumper - it's a revelation
 17.
Hi Alan, we had a good night as well. Looking forward to going back. Hope to bump into you at the St Annes do if you are going. Nick is hoping to go as well, I believe.
Yeh - Nick's coming with me. We're really looking forward to it.
 18. Hi Luke, at the moment I have this P, my Lakland Darryl Jones and a Bongo 5HS. The DJ is my main gigging bass - it hits the spot and looks cool too - even on an old ugly fat tw*t like me.
 19.
VERY nice! Especially with the bridge cover... Aren't the 'Thumpers' more mid-rangey/brighter than normal P pickups? I thought for a more trad soul sound/flats you'd want the Wizard 'Trad' pickups?
The Thumper's exactly what I need ie; bright and punchy but I can still get a trad sound if I roll the tone off so best of both really.
 20.
Which comedian was it that got into trouble years ago for calling Morecambe "a cemetery with lights"..?
Wasn't it Colin Crompton? Didn't he also say "They don't bury people in Morecambe, they prop 'em up in bus shelters with bingo cards in their hands"?
 21.
How'd it go in Bootleggers Alan? I was knackered and gave it a miss.
We had a really good night Peter - except there were no monitors so that made it a bit challenging. Never mind mate, we're at DD's in a couple of weeks and back at Bootleggers soon.
 22.
You wanna check out the NWB site a bit more often! - 'Wrecked' posted a blog about this venue a few weeks ago!
Yeh - I suppose you're right Ian, a bit of due dilligence wouldn't have gone amiss eh.
Shame Al, another good venue bites the dust in the North West. It's the old... landlord does a bunk and takes his diary with him problem. Tantrum are a great young blues band though, could have been worse.
Yeh - gigs are going down like flies Cameron but we did find a great new one (for us) on Thursday night at Bootleggers in Kendal - great pub, own PA and lights, great crowd too - even on a Thursday. The Royal Oak was THE place to play back in the dark days when I was a guitarist with The Hugh Jarre Soul Band.
 23. In any other soul band they'd be fine but I'm responsible for a lot of the melody as well as the low end in our four piece band so I need a more articulate, brighter sound that I can't quite get with flats.
 24.
Tasty! Did you get to hear the bass before the mods? I´m wondering how much difference better electronics can make in a MIM bass.
I did about 3 or 4 gigs with the standard pup and it sounded fine. But then the Thumper went in and wow - what a difference. Louder, punchier and brighter with a real 'openness' to the sound. I would recommend this pup for every P bass and the guy at Wizard is a pleasure to deal with.
You got the thumper sorted then? I've played this and it is a stunning P. Sounded HUGE. I think when I get my next P, I'll be sticking a Thumper in it.
I did Mike - The guy at Wizard sent me a replacement before I sent the first one back. Im really pleased with it now except I'll have to take the flats off if I want to gig with it 'cos the others don't like the sound. Sheesh
 25. Na - we went back to our 'home pub' to watch an excellent young band called Tantrum. Turned out alright in the end - paying for it right now
