1. No interests? I forgot to mention the bass comes with the usual allen key's too bumping for interests hopefully *sobs* Is the price too high or just simply bad timing?
 2. Weekend bump... still no offers Some one must want this for £800 ONO I'm even willing to throw in a gig bag...
 3.
Hmm, ours are all salsa tunes, so again foreign writers / composers (Lloraras, El Preso, Bamboleo, Rumbon Melon and Usted Abuso). We also have three tunes written by band members, but as we're not members of the PRS it wouldn't count anyway. It's really only a preview as we don't have enough tunes for a full 90 minute set but everyone's very interested to hear us.
Pretty much the same for us. We don't have enough songs even for a 30 min set. We have 3 original as well and the cover song is just there to fill space and we're going to finish another song so we have stuff to play for 30 mins. Once we write more original songs, we won't play the cover anymore. I'm just thinking out loud what's the likelihood that some authoritive person will tell the band to stop playing cover songs? Not that it matters cuz as BigRedX said, the venue is covered by insurance so the band won't need to pay for royalties.
 4.
BTW erisu, what J-Rock song are your band covering?
Alice nine - Velvet... initially we were going to do Mika Nakashima's Glamorous Sky but our vocalist is bored of singing that song as he sings it all the time at karaoke loll!
 5.
Two things: 1. As a band you're only responsibility is to list the songs played on the PRS form if you are asked to. The financial side is covered by the venue's PRS licence. You don't have to pay anything. 2. If you are asked to fill in the form do it. You might not think it counts for much, but about a quarter of my PRS royalties come from performances of songs I've written happening outside of the UK. I don't know how they got their but I'm just glad they did!
Ah brilliant! I'll be sure to follow this rule in future
 6. Hey Lanark! I'm having the same problem too but im thinking maybe my band can get away with it as we're only doing one cover song. The song we're covering is from a Japanese rock band and their music isn't released in UK at all. Do we still need to pay royalties? I mean tbh... i doubt anyone in the audience would have heard of the song let alone the band who created the song (unless it's a crowd or if there's someone who's into Japanese rock music) I was thinking when announcing the song to just announce the song name and skip the band name lol
 7. I should add T-cut for cars are excellent for cleaning frets BUT do mask off the fretboard before doing so as others have suggested too! Grab a clean cloth, dab some T-cut on and rub away I've done it before and will do it again.
 8. Wednesday bump No interest at all? *sobs* Once again it's totally mint... it's just been sitting in my Ibanez double bass gig bag and I haven't touched it since I took photo's of the bass for this thread... such a waste really as I play my other bass more and im awaiting delivery for Squier Affinity bass for a mod project so the Lakland will spend even more time sitting in the gig bag £800 ONO and will take split payments? Anyone? Maybe since we are a month away from X-mas everyone is doing their £££ X-mas shopping?
 9.
Cheers I am also thinking of going the black pick guard route on mine. I'll see if I can post up some pictures of it later
Brilliant! I've been searching for direct replacement pickguards for the Affinity and apprently nothing fits? The only options are to either: 1 - Order from WD music where you send them your old pickguard and they will make you a custom one? Think this could be expensive if it's a custom? 2 - Take down the Squier pickguard part number you want and go order from a Squier/Fender dealer? (do they put a 3-ply black pickguard on any other Squier basses?)
 10. Great report and review! I'm about to pull the trigger on a black Affinity bass. Going to mod it with new mighty mite neck, 3-ply black pickguard, new bridge, tuners, pickups and electronics... still thinking if i should put an active pre-amp in it or not. You got any pictures of your new baby?
 11.
Yeah I'm cool with Jazzes, but I've had a hard time in the past getting a beefy enough tone out of them. Now a Lakland is something I would REALLY like to try. What sort of model are you thinking? The 44-02 really grabs me as being rather sexy - theres; a guy on here selling one i think, but wants like 900, plus i dont have the money yet anyway. Are the Skylines as good as a USA made bass? Juan Alderete is one of my favorite players at the moment and he switched to Laklands from Fenders I noticed...
Heh, that'll be me but I PM'ed you

 13.
Yeah, but I reckon people would be afraid of fakes on there (I know I would) - my Dragon's Den pitch is to effectively underwrite the genuine-ness of the vouchers for sale by employing a truck load of guys in white coats to study the vouchers with magnifying glasses....
You can use my voucher as a start *hint hint nudge nudge*
 14.
I used to have an Affinity and I don't think the body was alder also I bought it for £119 from GAK.
It's said on the Squire website their wood is Alder... might be cheap alder but hey! it's Alder

 16. Hmmm offering the voucher for £90 seems like a good idea, at least it's better than spending an extra £100+ in cash, may ask the parents tonight hehe! Tarcher... the guy did call up another shop to ask if they have one in stock and it was actually in Watford! Im wondering if I contact Hooters directly would they do a price match hmmm... (Since Selfridges won't!) I've put the voucher in the wanted section as im willing to exchange it for a Squier Affinity (Affinity only im afriad because of its Alder body, price and the fact that a Mighty Mite next is direct replacement)
 17.
MB1. Selfridges is not the first place that comes to mind when i want to buy a bass to be honest! .Is there no way you can exchange the voucher for cash?..
I'd love to do that but the question is who? I already asked my mate but he said he'll get back to me and im advertising it on facebook on my status
 18.
I think you'll find that they are selling at RRP.... something that most Muso stores do not do..... they generally sell at 'Street Price'. I think if more stores were able to sell at RRP then the industry wouldn't be in the sorry state it's in a present. J
Well I'd certainly feel much better if other shops sold at RRP, but I can't get over the fact that at the back of my mind I know some music shop at Denmark Street will sell an Affinity jazz bass for £160?? and might even get them to throw a gig bag in too. Blehhhh seems like with the £210 im buying abit of the Selfridges brand too, or maybe the extra money goes towards their bright yellow bags.
 19. So I received a £100 voucher from work for being an efficient employee last week I've been thinking of using this voucher to buy a new bass for cheaps (and adding about £50 to the voucher as well)... most likely a Squier Affinity Jazz bass so I can have the joy of modding it by adding a Mighty Mite neck, new pickups, tuners, pickguard and bridge. Now the voucher can only be used in the list of shops listed on www.voucherexpress.co.uk and the only retail/department store that sells musical instruments are Selfridges. So I wondered into the London Selfridges today during my lunch break. I took a look around their instruments department only to discover the vast amount of instruments they stock are from a new brand called Blast that make cheapy instruments. They had some Squier strats but no basses and had 3 Ibanez basses which I avoided. I went to the counter thinking surely a Squier Affinity Jazz bass in Black wont be more than £160 ish... the nice guy behind the counter said they could order one in for me but it'll cost about £210!!! I mean I've never seen a store that sells a Squier rockbottom of the range at that price! Kinda pee's me off abit that Selfridges can get away with jacking up the price for their profits *angry* Now I think I have to put £110 in cash with the £100 voucher to get this about next week unless I buy their P-bass at £179 which is still a joke! Has anyone else had a similar feeling about Selfridges (or any of their products) or any other music shop about their instruments? And would anyone like exchange the voucher for cash of same value so I can go buy elsewere saving me about £100?
 20. A monday morning bump with a £50 price drop and no longer accepting trades unfortunately.
 21. Bumping... I'm willing to offer split payments as I understand £850 is alot of money to payout in one go (and the fact that Christmas is soon too). Not sure how to do this with whoever is interested but if you have a suggestion, let me know I am now no longer accepting trades unfortunately.
