  1. Video of the same model bass in action with someone who can really play it....
  2. Here we have a Yamaha BB2004 in excellent condition (9.781 out of 10). The only blemishes are as small abrasion on the underside of the fretboard close to be body which is barely noticable and a couple of small chips to the end of the headstock that could probably be rendered invisible with a black Sharpie pen (see pics). The Yamaha preamp has bass, treble, and what I would describe as a midrange sculpting control. I've always managed to find the tones I like. Its got a great piano like sound and I find it very comfortable to play as it has a smallish body. I'm very much in two minds about selling this as I love it but I want to thin the herd and standarise on 5 string basses. Buy before I change my mind! Weight is a very reasonable 4.3Kg (9ib 7oz). I can meet up in London or West Kent/East Sussex for a £10 contribution to travel expenses or buyer pays and arranges courier (and assumes the risk). .
  3. A Bass Collection Bruce Thomas in faded Fiesta Red (sold for some reason as "salmon pink"). Build quality is fantastic. Its in very good condition with some slight tarnishing on the pole pieces and various screws. There is a small thumbnail sized indent on the side of the body (see pic). Sounds awesome but for some projects I need 5 strings and so I've decided to standardise on them. There's a cover that goes over the bridge which I prefer not to use as I Iike to mute strings with my right hand. Weight is 4.3 Kg (9 1/2 pounds in old money). For £20 I can include a generic case that is in very good nick, although I don't have a key for the lock. I can meet up in London or West Kent/East Sussex for a £10 contribution to travel expenses or buyer pays and arranges courier (and assumes the risk).
  4. I've changed my mind about selling this bass more times than a 78 year old might about setting up some trade tariffs, but its time to make some space. Per £ this is probably the best bass you can buy. I modified the headstock to get a more Tele-bass-esque appearance so the HB logo has gone (sorry Thomann!). Its not quite Tele shaped but it is very close to the tempate I downloaded. The headstock is finished in a satin varnish and I added a fictitious maker's logo (I think Seido means Precision in Japanese). Apart from the headstock mod this one is like new except for a couple of tiny thumb nail sized indentations on the neck that are barely visible and certainly can't be felt whilst playing (see pic with the pick). How about £90 posted, £75 if we meet up at say any London mainline station. Cheers, Mick
  5. Total bargain. Really well made basses. I had a 5 stringer but couldn't deal with 35 inch scale or I'd still have it (also had EBS preamp, these generally courtesy of Bernie Goodfellow who imported them)
  6. ... This isn't the droid I'm looking for ...
  7. These are seriously underrated basses. I put some Dimarzio pickups and a Kiogon loom in one (not that the stock components were lacking) and I definitely prefer it to my short scale Fender Mustang.
  8. Just to confirm, it is a 36 inch scale?
  9. Maybe you should just listen to Mr Wharton and give in to the temptation?
  10. Just spotted this. Given where he is based isn't he concerned with the real "realistic world view" issue of South West Water? ....and bagsy not me that has to tell him about micro plastic in his testicles. 11. Thanks, it is great value, and appreciate Paddy777's Sterling SUB comparison too!
  12. I always use Basschat first but as a guide to future sellers of these basses re pricing I got £325 for this on Reverb. I bought this because I liked the sound, the build quality, the quality comoponents (Hipshot ultralite tuners, Omega bridge), and the looks; but its a 35 inch scale which doesn't suit the post surgery limitations of my left shoulder so I'm afraid its got to go. Weight on our new sophisticated bathroom scales is 4.4 Kg and it has 0% subcutaneous and visceral fat!. It looks as new. Happy to post at buyers expense and risk, or meet up in London, or deliver/meet up within a reasonable driving radius. There's no case or gig bag but I would post well packaged in a box. I'd prefer a sale but might go for trades (34" scale or less) with cash if required.
  13. I had one of these. Great instruments and especially with a top quality preamp added. Bernie Goodfellow used to be a UK agent of KSD basses and reckoned they were up with high quality Fenders. GLWTS
  14. Same for me, but I'm old too. GLWTG
  15. Despite some interest here (and I'd always try selling on Basschat first) no concrete offers materialised. This has now sold elsewhere. To assist potential future sellers of Alembic F-1X units in valuing the sale price I got was £650 plus shipping (minus sale site commission).
  16. Thank you for that clarification! I can't see any external switches so if it has that capability it must be inside. The following from Uncle Google seems to suggest it can be tweaked inside the casing for multiple international voltage conventions: http://www.alembic.com/support/SVC_F1X_voltage.html
  17. I don't understand that question I'm afraid! Is there simple paraphrasing for an electrical numpty like myself?
  18. As part of the clearout up for grabs next is this BBE BMax-T pre amp. Like the Alembic I've also put up for sale I just don't use it any more. The Alembic is a really premium preamp but this is no slouch either. Its made in the USA with "mil spec" components, and has a warm punchy sound. It has a control called 'Sonic Maxixmizer' for which I have never seen an explanation I could get my head around but you can hear it definitely fattens up the sound in a way that I liked. Although I generally favoured the Alembic I did use this on many occasions instead and if you want a good preamp for a lot less money this is a great choice. It has spent its life in a flight case and I would describe the condition as excellent with but there could be perhaps the faintest of surface blemishes here or there from flight case insertion or removal. Several years ago I enquired with BBE in the US regarding the appropriate foot switch it would need to use the switching function and they sent one to me for free!! If I can find that it will be included in the sale. Collection or meet up in London/East Sussex/West Kent. I could post but would need to research the cost. Racked with the Alembic F-1X

  19. Last price drop. If it doesn't sell soon I'll hook it up to a lightweight power amp and just sound great myself. The clearout continues... Surely one of the best preamps around, I've had this a number of years but just not used it recently. Its never missed a beat and is in very good cosmetic condition apart from the left hand (as you look at the front panel) mounting flange which was slightly bent by the previous owner. It doesn't affect the integrity of the casing or mounting and is barely noticeable particulalrly in a flight case which is where I have kept it since I bought it. There are also a few extremely minor surface abrasions on top/bottom. ...or you can get a new one for 2,790 Euros (today = £2,423.27) from https://www.station-musicshop.de/epages/64398533.sf/en_GB/?ObjectID=50587199. I know! I'm robbing myself! Why not take advantage of my stupidity for an early Christmas present? Free power lead with every purchase. Collection or meet up in London/East Sussex/West Kent. Postage an option but would need to find out cost. Nestling up to my BBE BMax T which will also be up for sale:
  20. Looks very nice but I'm struggling to see any green!. GLWTS
  21. Yup, if I needed a 4 string jazz I'd be clockwise on the M25 right now
  22. Open to offers....
