2.
How do you improve on perfection? There's never been a sexier shape than the Strat, Precision or Jazz.
+ 10000 although i like the Tele too.
3. that is horrble...butchery at it's best
4. I'd say less than jake is definately Ska Punk.
5. Loving the tranparent white/cream one!!
6. Im not a punk/ska bassist but i rate Matt Freeman as one of the best bassists of our time.
7. I bought my full Ampeg rig off of them. not only were they hundreds of pounds cheaper than anywhere locally, but they delivered the lot, next working day for nowt. absolute stars at GAK everytime ive dealt with them.
8. Your time has come - Audioslave I am the highway - Audioslave
9.
I've got one of the new Epi Thunderbird Pro's, as its throughbody would it still be possible to move the strap button to the back? Or would it be better to look at getting a thicker strap?
i personally wouldnt be happy drilling into a part of the bass which is effectively the neck. have a look on the gibson Tbirds, see where they have theirs?
10.
Is that really an issue? Unless you do some serious damage to the bass, the pick ups will last for ..? (I've never had a pick up die on me in 20 years) It's a £200 bass, by the time anything dies of natural causes the whole thing is likely to be giving up the ghost and you'll have probably moved onto an even more gorgeous bass. Generic soap bar pick ups are available (not easy to find , but they exist)
It was for me. i found that when i played it through an overdrive pedal i got a lot of unwanted feedback.
11. nope, never (touch wood) and i had an ashdown rig for 3 years
12. whilst not some of the most well known or technically best bass players there has ever been, but some of my personal favourite players. Audioslave - Broken City Timmy C Not the most technical of players but always puts down a solid bassline. Does what all good players do and serves the song. Rancid - Maxwell Murder Matt Freeman Not one of his more melodic offerings but the bass solo is awesome. Probbably one of my favourite bass players ever. Exaclty what a punk bass player should be in my opinion. I love his style of playing. Quite Firm - Laurence Cottle Somebody on here turned me on to him and I downloaded both of the free albums off of his website. I had never really heard much of this type of music but I was in awe from the first note!! Incubus - Battlestar Scralatchtica Dirk Lance Im not the biggest incubus fan but I love dirk lances playing style, especially in this song (suppose you could call it a bass instrumental, kinda?). He always seems to find the perfect groove. Love it! Less Than Jake - History of a boring town Roger Manganelli One of my influences when I first started playing (although I don't, and never have played ska/punk). Some awesome ska playing, just a shame about the sh*t tone. I can kinda look past that though because I like his playing so much.
13.
I am still trying to broaden my horizons and listen to as much bass playing in as many styles as is possible but there is a heck of a lot of stuff out there and without a guide to seperating the wheat from the chaff could spend a lifetime listening to the wrong music. Everyone has their favourite things - so, my question to the panel is - if you had to choose one track by one artist that defined his playing style what would it be? Which Marcus Miller? Which Jaco? Which Bruce Foxton? I have a few pets of my own but I know them already
oooh, good post...i'll be back in a bit with a list
14.
We play it in Db in my covers band. I use standard tuning (there are no open strings) but the guitarist tunes down a semitone
yep, same here.
15. I found replacement pickups impossible to find when i had one...that is why i got rid of it. Lovely bass though.
16. i usually have mine at about 95%...means if i ever feel im a tad quiet i can give it a quick tweak mid song without having to go back to my amp and change the master. to be honest, i very rarely touch the volume knob on my bass during a set anyway so i could probably be on 100% and it would make no odds.
17. i've been meaning to buy a trilby for a while now...this thread has inspired me to actually get off my arse and go and get one. Good Job
18. Day Tripper - The Beatles Piece of my heart - Erma Franklin
19. bout a 6 mile round trip, if that. Our guitarist owns the practice studios.

21.
Getting camera out now. Be with you in a bit.
nice one, just PM them to me mate.
22.
Do you have the original black plate it would have come with? I'm not a tort man.
afraid not, i sold it to Howard (Bass Doctor) on here.
23.
Mmmm.. Have a Highway one jazz. USA made, low action. It's a lovely bass but I'm on a real precision tip at the moment. Would you condider that? Will PM photees if you want. Joe
could very well be...send my some snaps matey
24. Answer to a few questions: • Will only post within the UK. • Will consider Trades and but only for Fender Jazz basses. Must be passive cheers. Dan
