1. 100% agree with this topic. I'd wager most on this board haven't heard of Brian Robinson from A Wilhelm Scream yet his bass playing is amazing in my opinion. (YouTube Line 1 YouTube Link 2 ). But how many people would be turned off by this band's style? As a younger whipper-snapper (just turned 30 😐 ), I actually struggle to like a lot of the bands and music of the older generations when people general recommend the "best" bass players.
2. Would you say that would be needed even if the input signal display shows I never got much above -12dB? The sound is lovely and clear with the Native plugin turned off... But I'll join that group and have a look. Thanks!
3. So I'm just trialling the Native plugin and it's running via Mainstage on my Macbook - it seems a touch, overdrivey? Most amps just seem to start overdriving even on my passive (Harley Benton) jazz. I'm guessing this may by due to setup but it's just the Zoom B3 as an audio interface in bypass mode, which is the input for a single channel in Mainstage, which has only the Native plugin. Yet even if I choose the Aguilar modeller (Agua 51) at the default drive setting (2.5) on it's own, it starts distorting the input.
4. Wow, that's more comprehensive than I was expecting! That looks very flexible indeed. I'm currently running an older Zoom B3 for "everything" and I've been eyeing up a B3n to replace it, but to balance out the nicer sounds I'm losing the DI and USB audio (which is how I play at home, bass into Mainstage via the USB on the B3 to play along to songs or backing tracks etc). I know DI and USB interfaces aren't exactly expensive anymore but still bit of a pain turning a £150 pedal into a £260+ purchase. Looks like the dream setup at the moment would be a Helix in a rack with the foot controller, paired with wireless in-ears and an FRFR if needed. I've always been more than happy to play direct where possible as I love the idea of a very low-volume stage. However, I'm not in a band, and play only Harley-Benton basses in the spare room so maybe a £2,500 rig is a touch excessive however this looks like an amazing piece of kit. I'd definitely prefer this over a traditional amp setup if I were to ever find a band.
5. I'm not a gigging musician, I'm just a bedroom warrior, and this thread is giving me some serious issues. This looks like an amazing piece of kit, and looks like it'll double up nicely for when I'm twiddling on a 6 or 7 string cousin too. Must....resist..... Is anyone willing to share a quick overview of their setups? Whether running into a cab or IEM etc?
6. I'm always curious about the advice to cut the lows out. A low E is about 40Hz, and a low B is about 30Hz - if you're cutting the lows, then you're surely cutting out the actual core of the notes you're trying to play? It does seem very counter-intuitive!
7. Здрасти, Цветан. Добре дошли!
8. Also considering getting back into playing bass after a few years away, and just want something cheap to see how my wrists take it. What are your feelings on this? It's about £110 now but seems like it should still be worth a punt.
9. Sorry for the late responses all. A mixture of hectic work and broken internet left me unable to respond. The bass is still here for anyone interested. I won't ship because I do not trust a single company to deliver it in one piece. In fact, if you check back through the basschat history, I once drove a bass from Wigan to Cheltenham as a personal delivery to avoid shipping it - this was in a period where time and petrol money was in abundance
10. Hi all, It is with great regret that I have to 'hang up' my bass playing for good. Working with computers, being an avid gamer and playing guitar/bass heavily for years has led to numerous problems, and a combination of carpal tunnel and RSIs has forced me to tone back this type of activity as much as possible. So I have for sale my trust Vintage V950B five string. It's a really nice finish for a budget bass, with a bubinga body. Active electronics with a P+J config (Controls are: Volume/Pickup/Bass cut&boost/Treble cut&boost). View some additional specs here. The bass itself is in very good condition, with no obvious dents or marks. The current setup isn't too bad, but I think the bass would benefit from a setup (action is a touch high on the B string for example). The strap and gig bag shown in the pictures will be included. Shipping: I will not ship this bass. Local pickup is available in the St. Helens area, and I will of course be willing to deliver in the North-West area/meet half-way for no extra charge. Any further questions, ask in here or PM. Cheers for the replies Very interested in the bass, however I'm slightly bothered that I'll miss the active "sound", as my last 6 basses have all been active!

Hi mate, how's the low B on this?
14. Sold, and now bass-less Cheers
15.
Hi. I'm definitely interested, but do you mind if I ask a couple of cheeky questions? Are you selling to upgrade? Don't want to leave you without a bass! Are you still able to travel in the North West? The problem is that I don't drive and live in Manchester. I don't know if it's easy for you to go to? Will it be sold stringed up or will I need to buy some? £140 is a bargain though admittedly
I'm selling as, at the moment in time, I'm no longer in a band, I'm having some troubles with an RSI in my left wrist and as mentioned earlier the money will go towards some tyres I've just bought for my car Manchester is fine, I'm of course still able to deliver. There are strings on it, they're in relatively good nick, but they are indeed used, so depending on how new you like your strings you may wish to whack some new ones on there. If you're still interested, may be worth taking this to PM if you want to take it further Cheers, Karl
16. Very thin neck, it's really quite a comfortable bass
17. Mid week bump. I'm absolutely desperate to get this sold as quickly as possible, just had to shell out for some new tyres for my car and need the money back from this.
18. End of the week bump.
19. Bump with price drop from £75 to £55
20. Bump with price drop from £170 to £140, desperate to get this sold. (I need the money)
