1.
Hysteria , cool bass riff
Defo focus on OOS and Absolution. Although The Resistance does have some cool lines.
2. Defo start with OOS. What song did you hear that you liked?
3. Bump - Decided to lower the price a smidgen. £685
4.
I know this might be a contentious question, but hear me out. I have just read the thread discussing Blur's perfomance at the Brits last night. I didn't see it, but I gathered from reports today that it was pretty messy. The post on Basschat bore that out, but it also has quite a lot of people criticising Alex James as a player. I'll stand up now and say that I think he's a great player, but that's not quite the point I want to make. Because other names were thrown up as unremarkable, such as Mick Quinn of Supergrass and Mat Osman of Suede. I think they're great, too, playing excellent and fitting lines in some great songs. But the more I read Basschat, I find the conversation dominated either by the classic rock basists of the 60's and 70's, such as Geddy Lee and John-Paul Jones, or super-duper bass soloists, like Victor Wooten or Jaco Pastorius. Where is the flattering reference to Mike Mills? Colin Greenwood? Or even Andy Rourke? Are these players genuinely inferior to the giant rock players of the 1970's? And if so, why? I'd also like to say that I am not attacking the canon of leading bassists, nor those who admire them. I was called a troll on a post here a while back for a passing criticism of John Entwistle, and I don't want to raise hackles. But why are more recent bass players so readily ignored or criticised on these pages? What's wrong with them?
Colin Greenwood is pretty ace. I rate him pretty highly. I just think he's outshined by his brother!
5. This is another amp I really want to try
6.
There will be, yeah. I can't invest much in stock at the moment so can't afford to sort them just yet!
Ta!
7.
I should be hearing about stickers this week so hope to be able to add them soon! Cheers
Ped - any idea if there's going to be BC tshirts?
8.
I should add that ive had 5 Laklands, and played around 10 altogether and all were spot on.
Yeah every one I've played has been as I'd expect! Luck of the draw eh?
9.
That's not what Mel says. /smut I was thinking that it was sprung loaded with the pups like some crazy whammy so you could wobble them for a tremolo effect.
Haha shouldn't have been drinking water when i read that.
10. Nice work I played a gig in a state like that before, did the gig then fainted just after. Also did a gig when I'd REALLY done my back in and could barely move - let alone hold up a bass. Not a fun gig that!
11. Arg!
12.
I think wateroftyne has been trying to sell one of those for some time http://basschat.co.uk/topic/111472-caps-lock-key-available-again/page__hl__caps%20lock%20key
Hah - great read that.
13. Delano? I got a MM style one with no poles. Not bad priced.
14. Send him a link to a caps lock key.
15.
Hmmm, does my back pay go on one of these (DJ5 Skyline Blue) or an engagement ring...? Decisions decisions....
Heh simples. Bass
16. Just goes to show that price means nothing to a good instrument My lakland is a much better player than any fender i've tried (except a horrible gold one with amber hardware i tried once to test a pedal...that was a REALLY nice bass!)
17.
the US ones must be sublime.
Weirdly - I tried a DJ4 US at the same time as a DJ4 Skyline. I preferred the feel and tone of the skyline. Don't Lakland get the parts built in far east then assemble in Chicago?
18.
I want one. NOW!
You should totally give Rich a shout. Seriously. Rich - You really need to get a website
19. Very pretty. Lakland do orange finishes? I've never seen an orange Lakky before! Also that blue/purple is ace.
20. I'd love to do a show like this. No idea how to get into it though... Not to mention I can't read a lick of music...
21. Bump. This is a great bass, and sounds amazing.
22. PM Ou7shined. He'll get something for you.
