1. I can only 2nd the stunning service here. Mark invested a great deal of time and effort in me yesterday, happy to take my critisism over a few instruments I tried and didn't like at the shop, and able to open my eyes to others I hadn't considered. He seriously knows his stock and you can tell he's played and understands the qualities of all of his basses. His service is so good he even picked me up and dropped me back off at the train station AND made me a cuppa. He did me a stunningy good deal on a trade with my Overwater and I really don't feel like I could ask for more. I would recommend the Bass Direct service for anyone at all, particuarly those looking to buy a top end instrument and want to know what's really out there. Make the journey to Bass Ditect and try 30 custom basses... There will be one that feels right!!! Cheers Mark
2. Well my decision to move from 5 to 6 strings has been on my mind for a while and having sampled a number of high end 6ers I found one that just felt 'right'. Neck like butter, didn't notice the step to 6 strings, and it's a fretless... And I hardly even notice the fact! The Overwater has left the building!!!! But, welcome to the family.... Roscoe Century Standard 6 Fretless Ash body with enhance grain 3 piece Maple Neck Diamondwood board with aluminium fret lines (!) Hand Carved Graphtec Nut Hipshot satin hardware Bartolini CB pickups and Bartolini 3 band EQ Uber lightweight (about 8.6lbs) and amazingly balanced A truely stunning instrument and a delight to play. Pics to follow when some natural light comes through the curtains Also joining the family this week is the new EBS Session 60 combo for home practice whilst the rig is at the studio. A stunning combo which punches well above it's price point, as well as the new TC Electronics Polychromatic tuner... which rocks!!!
3. This has now been traded. For anyone still interested in this beauty of a bass it can be located here... http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ater_Evo_5.html
4. Oooooh pretty! Not sure I've seen that finish before either!
5.
Blue LEDs. Much better.
Agreed. Going to get my hands on some micro LED's in blue and change the clip light and the compressor light to blue as well
6. He is awesome, a real hero of the bass I feel. I have booked tickets, me and Jazz are going without fail!
7. Awesome +6!
8. Some up to date pics as of today. Pics are missing the GB as it's down with Bernie. Rig & Overwater (Fafner now sporting the blue LED's) (sorry about my reflection in this one!) Overwater Evolution 5 Custom EBS Fafner, EBS Neoline 212 & EBS Neoline 115 Pedalboard... Boss TU2, Boss DD3, EBS Unichorus, EBS Octabass, EMMA DiscumBOBulator (with sfx made toggle), MXR Bass Blowtorch, Tech 21 XXL Bass Edition
9. Played both yesterday... The new preamps are bloody unreal! Theyvsound like no Toby I've heard before! I thought you were keeping the 6. I want it sooooooo bad... It's the deal of the century!!
10. Bump for a gorgeous bass May also be interested in 6 strings of a similar value. Bolt on or thru neck. Fretless or fretted. Let me know what you have 6er wise
11. On the way back from Bernies... Been a good day out. The 115 is all fixed and the Fafner is now sporting blue LED's We went through all the colours and it was between Blue or Gold. Blue won. My GB is staying with Bernie for a week to resolve a few neck 'issues'. There maybe a new GB project in the pipeline... But it's all a secret
12. Thought as much... Jazz's kicking himself for shifting it
13. Got me too. Sold everything I owned. Didn't even look at a bass for 18 months. Then I played one... I was like crack and I was addicted again, and far more excited by it. The break did me good
14.
Looks good Shep...2nd DD-3 in order?
Thats what I'm on the look out for :-)
15. Great bass... just like everything that comes from Status. Somebody buy this already... its a REALLY good price!!!
16. Jazz finally let it go!! Ha. This bass is awesome. Tried it and loved it. I know he was in two minds about parting as well... We are both off to see Bernie @ GB tomorrow so I'm sure I will hear a 'I miss that Bacchus' story in the car. This has an ultimate jazz bass tone, and the feel of a bass worth a goof grand over its actual cost. Top bit of kit
17.
Don't go telling everybody how good they are, the used prices will go back up.
Mine went for £725 if I recall... I'd of been a happy buyer! I could have 3 and half of them for the price of my Overwater! lol
18.
awsome bass can you tell me the nut width?
Cheers, indeed it is! Width of the neck at the nut is 45mm. String spacing at nut is 9mm (19mm at bridge, but is adjustable) Shep
19. Mine at the mo (sorry for the bad pic)... Shep
20.
Completly agree. I think schroeders are lumped in a similar deal - Yes they do have a slight mid hump, but with a little EQ they can turn into really big fat scooped monsters if thats what your after. I'd really love to try a nice big EBS rig, I've only tried a small one (1x15) Looks beautiful mate!
Well if you ever end up in Nottingham, give me a shout. Always happy to accommodate other basschatters... Had mcgraham over earlier in fact!
21.
Whats the weight of this beauty?
Managed to weigh this just now (cheers for bringing the scales round Mark!). It weighs just over 5.5kg, or around 12.2lbs... thats as accurate as I could be with the tools at hand. I've played heavier, but certainly played lighter as well!!
22. I wish I had some scales to tell you! Its pretty weighty. I'd say 20% heavier than my GB Spitfire and the Warwick Thumb I had. Chris May at overwater made a comment that it was one of the heaviest he'd produced... I never noticed until i started playing standing more... Sitting you don't notice it. And due to the heavy dense wood the low B is truly astounding!
23. I recently sold a BO5... The guy got a bargain as it was a beauty (pic's in my gear thread -see my sig-). I actually prefer the feel of the BO's, but where the Thumb sound is concerned I agree... I wish I still had mine as well!!!!
24.
good man, don't sell that beasty!!!
This is back up... GAS gone mad and all that. First post totally updated. No haggling... I need something lighter and have found other things I want... Shep
25.
*cough* *cough* Rumour *cough*
lol lol lol lol If I ever got shot it would have to be trade, only way to get your moneys worth back. A 2.5k instrument could be traded for another, but would never sell for enough to buy a new 1.
