A close run campaign for the April certificate was only split by a single vote, enabling @AndyTravis to receive another presentation by @Dad3353 for the prize. Early off the mark Andy sent me the following image ... "There we go - spaced out, ejected etc " The following have been lovingly crafted for your listening delights. Choose your Favourite 3 entries before the vote closes at midnight on 31st May 1 Lurksalot a spacey kind of soundscape 2 @AndyTravis Just struck me that it’s a May composition, the first lyric the singer put to it started with “Home Again” so I thought of the man ejected into space wanting to be home again… 3 @Jean-Luc Pickguard Here's Event Horizon, where I aimed for a 70s Krautrock feel. It is is about looking into, and being pulled over the Event Horizon of a black hole which might actually be a wormhole into a parallel universe. 4 @Leonard Smalls A chaotic riposte to James Blood Ulmer's "Jazz is the Teacher, Funk is the Preacher"; this is The Creature! 5 @fingers211 Following the old 'Catchphrase' mantra, I've sung what I've seen !! 6 @xgsjx Okay, I'm in this month! 7 @upside downer Flying craft and missiles are the order of the day for mankind yet again as we find ourselves fighting on the edges of space and time. When will we ever learn? Hopefully, I've tapped into a vague Hawkwind vibe both lyrically and musically which, in my book, can only be a good thing. Okey Dokey , that's them all , enjoy your listen and pick out your favourite 3 pieces. Voting will close at midnight on the 31st .

Ian Prowse at Alexander’s in chester , jeez what a show, performer , poet, songsmith. with a fiddle and a flautist/penny whistler to accompany, the guy just tells stories from the heart. Mersey centric but honest and open to the core, love the guy ❤️❤️

Many moons ago , we strike up ‘I predict a riot’ just as it kicks off at the bar. The following scene was straight out of a Benny Hill show chase. one lad runs past us to the front door and disappears, eagerly followed by 6 blokes followed by their girlfriends. they then come back to find the troublemaker had come in through the back door , so they chased him back out of it, but followed him all the way round and back in the front door. All to said tune , surreal, yet very funny as we were pretty much ignored during the procession

On a similar vibe , if you take the dep, he could have a good go at the bar tab by himself by the look of it 😁.

well who'd a thunk it first in with a silly soundscape Ibby 6 string through a couple of waves gtr3 patches , loads of synth type sounds from the digital pianola and a couple of samples from Freesound modified a bit.

I’ve got a Rode NT1-A I don’t use it a lot as it’s normally in a drawer , but an SM58 is always on its stand for when inspiration strikes , and with my voice any subtleties in recording quality are kind of irrelevant 😂

A close run campaign for the April certificate was only split by a single vote, enabling @AndyTravis to receive another presentation by @Dad3353 for the prize. So early off the mark this morning Andy thus sent me the following image ... "There we go - spaced out, ejected etc " Simple rules ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline. ✖️ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ✖️ No Bagpipes/panpipes, everyone had the chance last month's previous month, so there! ✖️ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you.. Deadline-wise, we will go for Midnight on the 25th (I'll get up sharpish on the 26th if I can ! ) A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be super smashing. Good luck, Have fun

April ( no fool) composition challenge ...Voting Time
lurksalot posted a topic in General Discussion
After a three way joint win in March and a further tie break question, here we are with the inspirational photo for the April challenge from @upside downer He reflects .... "Took this last year when we went to Frameless, an immersive art experience, where paintings by the old masters gradually come together, enveloping you before falling away, only for another to take its place." So on with the show and I would suggest 2 votes this month 1 @AndyTravis There’s a hole in the sky… 2 @Jean-Luc Pickguard When we look at a painting we see a frozen moment where time does not pass. This song reflects on the relentless march of time and how certain things, like aging, are inevitable. No matter how much we may want to slow or freeze time, it pushes forwards, pulling us along with it Time, It Is What It Is audio link.mp3 3 Lurksalot It is of course ...the big picture 4 @Leonard Smalls A new Future Impact patch wot I made inspired this Mutant Disco Ditty... 5 @upside downer Saunter through Cézanne's Avenue at Chantilly to a twinkling soundtrack of swirly, insistent guitar chords, subtle keys and unobtrusive beats. okey dokey there are 5 to choose from so go for your fave 2 voting will end at midnight on Tuesday 30th April Good Luck all -
Sorry guys , I got my dates mixed up , I’ll get on it when I get home , it’s been a mad month

Did music lessons at school help with your musical life?
lurksalot replied to Nail Soup's topic in General Discussion
My experience was quite similar @Leonard Smalls would you believe 😁 except we started with Mr Fogel the chalk chucker and then Crystal tips. but yes Kevin Q did like the music for his spiritual celebrations . a bit odd that music was so low in the proceedings considering the headmaster’s son was one David Balfe https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Balfe but then , he didn’t go to our school 😂😂 -
I've got one just about done , I would like to do some more with it , but I suspect my diary over the next week or two might get in the way , but still.. Ibby six string with a waves gtr3 stomp patch, EZ drums ,me on the mic with squaks and harp , and a nothing of bass which I hope to sort! Its a bit short, but hey, play it twice .
-
Is there a popular bass player, that you just don’t get?
lurksalot replied to Rayman's topic in General Discussion
I suppose it’s not that odd for an Indian though , if I have a dish I will normally have a bread with it, why not slap it on top of the bread (obviously not a chicken curry though 😂 ) -
Ah well , it was great , plenty of good bands , a couple of duffs , but 3 brilliant shows on the day and a bit I was there 👍

Is anyone going or playing even this weekend? there’s a bit of jazz I guess , but it’s a great long weekend of music around the pubs and clubs in the town. I’ll be on the pop on Saturday and back on Sunday to see an outfit I saw in 2019 who were just superb. anyone else ?
