  1. A close run campaign for the April certificate was only split by a single vote, enabling @AndyTravis  to receive another presentation by @Dad3353 for the prize.

So early off the mark this morning Andy thus sent me the following image ...

"There we go - spaced out, ejected etc "

    image.png.6c83ee0df5a0c26e9dbae5c31f5bf159.png

    Simple rules

✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline.

✖️ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on

✖️ No Bagpipes/panpipes, everyone had the chance last month's previous month, so there!

✖️ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you..

Deadline-wise, we will go for Midnight on the 25th (I'll get up sharpish on the 26th if I can ! )

A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be super smashing.

    Good luck, Have fun

  2. After a three way joint win in March and a further tie break question, here we are with the inspirational photo for the April challenge from @upside downer

    He reflects ....

"Took this last year when we went to Frameless, an immersive art experience, where paintings by the old masters gradually come together, enveloping you before falling away, only for another to take its place."

    image.png.d07822e35af1031b80da72d088cc415d.png

So on with the show and I would suggest 2 votes this month

    1   @AndyTravis     There’s a hole in the sky…

@Jean-Luc Pickguard   When we look at a painting we see a frozen moment where time does not pass. This song reflects on the relentless march of time and how certain things, like aging, are inevitable. No matter how much we may want to slow or freeze time, it pushes forwards, pulling us along with it

3 Lurksalot     It is of course ...the big picture

4 @Leonard Smalls    A new Future Impact patch wot I made inspired this Mutant Disco Ditty...

5 @upside downer     Saunter through Cézanne's Avenue at Chantilly to a twinkling soundtrack of swirly, insistent guitar chords, subtle keys and unobtrusive beats.

okey dokey there are 5 to choose from so go for your fave 2

voting will end at midnight on Tuesday  30th April

    Good Luck all

Music lessons in my schools (70s-early 80s) were largely a waste of time...

There was nothing in primary, just a bit of singing at assembly.

And in secondary we had music in years 1-3, 1 lesson a week. They consisted of Mr Bird playing some music (usually Young Person's Guide, or The Planets, or for a contemporary feel (!), Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Yawn). Then folks would say if they liked it or not, though because he wasn't particularly good at discipline this usually meant him shouting above a general cacophony of rude comments. And then we'd do some very rudimentary theory. This theory would be tested at annual exam time. However, they discovered I had private piano lessons after I got 100% in the first exam (my mum's a piano teacher) so from then on I got different exams from everybody else - though this was usually about grade 1 theory when I'd already done grade 5... So music wasn't really a thing for us at school.

Though in 6th form, Mr. Q had the bright idea of forming a one-off band to play before a viewing of that banned anti-nuke film (wot I can't remember the name of). I played keys, Cossack played guitar and Mouse played his violin bass - someone rattled a tambourine in the background while we did a couple of BarclaysBankHarvest and Dylan songs. I was so fascinated by Mouse's bass that I took it up when I got to Uni - and strangely it turned out that the Hofner bass belonged to Mouse's brother, our very own @lurksalot!

My experience was quite similar @Leonard Smalls would you believe 😁 except we started with Mr Fogel the chalk chucker and then Crystal tips.

but yes Kevin Q did like the music for his spiritual celebrations .

a bit odd that music was so low in the proceedings considering the headmaster’s son was one David Balfe https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Balfe

but then , he didn’t go to our school 😂😂

A couple of years ago I went skiing in Les Contamines where there was a rather fine but distinctly off-beat pizza place (L'Ours Noir) run by the ski guide we'd got to know... There were daily specials, the weirdest was probably a Thai Chicken Green Curry Pizza which was excellent, if a bit lacking in the expected chilli (we were in France, after all!).

I suppose it’s not that odd for an Indian though , if I have a dish I will normally have a bread with it, why not slap it on top of the bread (obviously not a chicken curry though 😂 )

  7. Is anyone going or playing even this weekend?

there’s a bit of jazz I guess , but it’s a great long weekend of music around the pubs and clubs in the town.

I’ll be on the pop on Saturday and back on Sunday to see an outfit I saw in 2019 who were just superb.

    anyone else ?

Fancy some lyrics to go with this Fisher-Price Fun Lovin' Criminals funk? Here they are. Won't mean owt to you lot but all the names included in the song are various drinking acquaintances of mine through the 80s, 90s and 00s, although I'm not sure they were all ever in the same pub at the same time!

that's cool that is , I like it

  9. It was time to get serious this month ,  Mr Smalls has been on a roll for some time and landed himself a double bagger with the February win

Fine work indeed and worthy congratulations were indeed offered, but onwards we went with no time to dawdle

For this month's photo we got to delve into @Leonard Smalls holiday photo album.

"This one's a pic from holiday in Mallorca. I asked for apple juice in a bar in Soller and this is what arrived!"

    image.png.eaf80a8b92565bd9f3babbb15347c670.png

So it's time to vote but we will go for casting 2 votes this month

1   @kwmlondon    I've got the start of something that I actually quite like the sound of. I don't know where it's going to go - I'm going to leave it for a while and come back to it and maybe think about some vocals and an arrangement, but this is a sort of starter...

@Leonard Smalls  Remembering the Babycham ad with a bit of jazzyfunkyrock...

3 @AndyTravis    having just booked our summer holiday…I just tried to get my head in that “first cocktail in the sun” it came out like a pseudo Foos track.

4  Lurksalot    I went with confusion and thus fusion , based on the fact that Lenny's holidays are often in the Alps , Austria or the like , I reckoned with the language problems , he forgot where he was.

5 @upside downer    The old gang reconvene at the pub one more time to enjoy a few drinks in the sun and reminisce about the days when they had everything going for them and all the time in the world to loon around

As we have 5 entrants , we could go for 2 choices this month

so vote for your fave 2

voting will end midnight on 31st March

  10. Well, you didn't ask for it , but nevertheless you can have it !

I went with confusion and thus fusion , based on the fact that Lenny's holidays are often in the Alps , Austria or the like , I reckoned with the language problems , he forgot where he was. Thus knocking up a couple of loosely Spanish and German style samples and some stereotypical noises seemed a route to take , apologies.   :D

Tecnical ... well lots of random played pieces stuck together in Reaper, a castanet sample from freesound shoehorned in and a quick flight to the alps to record a traditional sound in the mountains.

  11. I have now stitched some bits together to present , however, I intend to have a couple of home brews later on , and revisit the thing for some fun.

The standards round here have been far too good for too long , this one should bring the average down a fair bit 😁

Shame really, as I’m sure you would have been impressed with the way I can handle my castanets
