With much respect all for sale basses must be posted with a price, as per the amendment to the conditions of posting, so if you could do us all a favour and add that to the title it would be very helpful and save you from any more irritating questions. I do hope you appreciate my candour.
Hes already put a price in his post.
Slap doesn't have to sound tinny, people just have to actually think about their tone instead of just plugging an expensive bass into an expensive amp rig, thinking "it must sound good". He obviously cares more about technique than tone and musicality (in this video, at least).
I assure you Dave Dyson does not just care about technique,..the guy is a groove monster and one of the best in the world...A pro like him doesnt just plug in an expensive bass with thinking about his tone.......like you said just this clip..
To be fair this doesn't do David Dyson justice. The slap sound is obviously tinny on YouTube, but he's a monster player and groover. Check out his playing on Me'Shell's live gigs on YT...she wouldn't use a slouch as her bass player. And his dad invented a mean vacuum cleaner, too.
For sure Pete, Meshell wouldnt have someone whos not a groove monster...clip doesnt really do Dave justice...or the Skjold hes playing...Irskine is still really bad though..

i like this,,great drumming.......dont like Damien Irskine though...his playing does my head in...just stop it man!!!!! too much technique and no groove...ive never seen so much talent go waste by stupid jazz noodling, that gives everything to his ego and nothing to the music...he doesnt fool me.... awfull..IMHO

There is endless electric bass in music we all like, but what really blows you away...can you play it? or do you just listen and admire/learn... i always like to see other people's choices because i learn so much about other stuff...so lets see em these i just love.. i saw Julian play this live on his F Bass that was on BC for sale a while ago...i dont usually like too much flash but this is different...very special this song is to me.........just INCREDIBLE composition.!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YMkI4uc6PU 2 more Incognito tunes..this is the intro to Beneath the Surface and the tune after is supreme with Chris Balin on vocals...2 of my favorite cog tunes, first time i heard these i knew what i liked in bass...IMO Randy plays the perfect balance of groove and harmonic intuition...for these reasons, i think hes one of the best in the world... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YMkI4uc6PU this is one of first funk songs my mum ever played to me back in 1983...the brass and bass intro stuck with me for a long long time, where id he get his groove from???......i had no idea at the time of who was behind it...absolutely love it...bass playing is ok too.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWh8HzCxtOg...=PL&index=6 i fxxxxn love this song...lovely relaxed playing, with some great funky fills...for me there is nothing quite like her touch and jazz bass tone...her best album IMHO.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OBM2FU9HOo hope you enjoyed my selections cause i did..

i totally know where your coming from..i learned in the context of the music and the audience just the root note sounds good played with the right feel and finger touch...you just learn to relax....over playing or restlessness in your/anyones/my playing, comes down to nerves i think..(not saying your a beginner of course)....IMHO, concentrate on the chords being played and just stick to the simple stuff... its not a race, just relax....im a big believer in warming up and trying to relax as much as possible before playing, be it at home playing live...
The woods and the finish on the 5 are the best of the three, but the over-fussy bridge looks totally wrong. I generally love überJazzes, but those particular ones really aren't toasting my crumpet to be honest.
mmm..seems the bridge should have a more elaborate body i guess
More slap heaven from the Man himself... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qxb3P332V4
Dont get me wrong i love L42 but sometimes im not sure of Mr Kings tone? im astounded by his technique though...really would love to see him do gospel or something different.... slap is so part of L42's sound, but i love it when he plays fingerstyle now and again.....just fabulous...
I have noticed that my newly aquired bass tends to have a slightly quieter E string output then the rest of the strings. Does anyone know of anything that can be done to make it louder?
Uzzel it may be the case that the pickup height, is not even across the strings...Also if your E string has a very low action and your digging in the lack of space can choke the string/note thus not ringing..these are the only experiences ive had..others may know of other reasons..

Went to Guitar Guitar today in Newcastle (which i may add had very friendly and helpful staff) to check out what stock they had in...Spotted a Sadowsky UV70, Black, Maple board 5...Plugged into a Phil Jones amp..first thoughts were what a fxxxxx tone! The slap/pop tone was the best ive ever heard to be fair.....couldnt help thinking the B was a little floppy though, i guess considering its scale this may be forgiven..But its a Sadowsky!!?? My old S5 was sooo much better...Anyone else played one...what did you think of the B string on these babies.. Ive got to say i would forgive this and buy one as i love the look the tone and 70's body size....but at over £2000.00 i would think very carefully.. i wish i still had my RV5!!!!

Trouble is have been in numerous bands playing numerous styles, but discovered that i only really dig playing soul jazz funk etc....and these bands are not that common where i live...

I am bandless at the moment which is a bummer..I have been waiting to hear from a jazz funk out fit for a while...they called this evening....They asked me to come for a rehearsal this wed night... Guess what, i cant do it because im working away for the next few weeks..im gutted...i did say to the guy in the band if he rehearsed any other time...he said not really...not really on to expect them to work to my time i know....its just very bad timing and very frustrating..... sorry for the rant

IMO, i dont think any instrument your buying should have a setup that ridiculously bad...everyone has there pref, but if its so bad, the shop should sort it...when it gets to spending that much on an instrument its really bad...imagine going into a bike shop and spending £1000 on a top bike and it wasnt set up properly, so it was difficult to ride... it wouldnt happen... they sell the basses they should set them up and make sure they are in tip top condition....I bought a bass on line from a shop....and a bass company renowned for bad QC and i learned my lesson...you really need to try basses as there is so many variables... in the future i know if i buy new, to play the bass... or buy second hand and get it from BC'ers who will give you an honest low down about the bass..
