Does anyone own one of these.? Im after a bit of info on the first generation Yamaha TRB6 with the slap cut away. This is the instrument I'm talking about. What are they worth.? What are the Jazz pickups like.? and are they replaceable with the same pickups or with any other brand. What price might i pay for a very good example.. Im aware both the bridge and tuners might be tarnished being an older instrument, are they replaceable.? It would seem my musical circumstances have changed and the GAS is strong with this one. Thankyou for any info.

I don't think I would go for a custom build. It's not that I don't know what I want, but I know that builders like Sadowsky, Lakland etc know what there doing. And know alot more about bass the building guitars better than me. There are plenty of off the shelf amazing basses and options to keep me happy. You really have to know about what works for you with the different aspects of building a bass to get it perfect for yourself. Imo.

It really wouldn't bother me what music my wife dragged me too. As long as it's played well. I draw the line at Westlife and Hard House though. Would she come to an Incognito or Funk gig.? Nope.

This is a sticky subject, as of course music is subjective. But.. there is some absolute garbage out there. I was subjected to this on saturday. Now I'm an open minded ear, but nothing prepared me for how sh*t this is. How on earth this record made money(and it did) is just beyond me. Alan Patridge's Monkey Tennis is a good idea compared to this. The thing that really did me in, is that the song changes key a lot. And it goes on and on and on, and i was subjected to the 12' version. Im not a musical snob, but you have draw the line somewhere. What is the actual point of this record. I have no idea.
