If that isn't already patented I'd get onto it
Perhaps an more imaginative approach to pick dispensing could make its way into the variety of ear adornments favoured by some eccentric rock musicians--unless they're concerned about looking silly...

 4.
Got the bass back safe and sound this afternoon, fairly relieved to say the least! Thanks to everyone for their support/advice Tom
Good! You owe karma a favour...

 6. OP, have you registered your missing bass via the StringsReunited link in my signature? Have you reported it to the police?
 7. To me the Fender Jazz Bass has a flowing and sensuously curvacious silhouette for the most part whereas the P-Bass has a more utilitarian and masculine profile. Aren't J's favoured over P's by female bassists due to their more comy body contours and better weight distribution?
 8.
Interesting but $919 might look expensive when it gets to the UK. Is the Hellcat VI being phased out?
I don't know, but it was never offered in a left-handed version. The Ultra VI is.

 11. While Digitech ships (Mac & Windows) software which can control the parameters of their various units via MIDI commands, for GNU/Linux users there's this unofficial offering: "Control your Digitech effect pedal under Linux! gdigi is tool aimed to provide X-Edit functionality to Linux users Supported devices (list misses your DigiTech device? The download link on that page is currently broken. Those who are interested in gdigi may wish to e-mail the author: <[email protected]> In the meantime I have the gdigi-0.2.0.tar.bz2 archive from which I compiled an executable gdigi 2.0 application via these instructions: "Setup: There're no distribution packages available for gdigi (you're welcome to package it for your distribution of choice). In order to compile gdigi on Debian/Ubuntu system, issue following commands:"
sudo apt-get install build-essential libasound2-dev libgtk2.0-dev libglib2.0-dev libexpat1-dev wget http://d10xg45o6p6dbl.cloudfront.net/projects/g/gdigi/gdigi-0.2.0.tar.bz2 tar xvjpf gdigi-0.2.0.tar.bz2 cd gdigi-0.2.0 make ./gdigi
If any GNU/Linux users here (I've found that gdigi 2.0 works well under 32 bit Ubuntu 10.10 with an RP355) want the gdigi-0.2.0.tar.bz2 archive (~122kB) please contact the author. (If you can't get through to him, then PM me and I'll e-mail you a copy.) The one important thing which gdigi can't do yet is save tweaked parameters as a configuration file to a hard drive. However IIRC the author is working on this feature, which (along with alerting him to the release of the new BP355) is why e-mailing him would be a good first move. It is worth noting that as of three months ago there was no GNU/Linux support available for other competing multi-effects/amp modelling units. I looked... -------- And since the new BP355 is based upon the RP355, here's a thread I found to be helpful: My RP355 review http://forum.thestompbox.net/showthread.ph...highlight=RP355

 13.
Not sure if I really need all these basses really. The bass I use the most seems to be the Washburn Status. (followed closely by the hamburger bass). I wanna keep the JD bass, and the fretless.I know that times are hard, and I don't wanna sell my Tele bass for less than I paid for it. (alot) And to be brutally honest ,altho' it's the nearest 'proper' bass sound i m h o , I'm frightened to gig with it. I love the look of the Taxi bass, but haven't used it in rehearsals yet. As for the 5 string? using it at home is fine ,but I think I'd be too nervous in a band situation. As for the 6 and 8 strings? They've been ignored. Not sure whether to sell most of 'em ,as I 'm almost certain my job is going around xmas. (Hate the place anyway) On the other side of the coin, I do like the look of basses on the wall etc. I was thinking of getting miniatures instead. Sorry if it sounds a bit miserable , but I'm not the miserable type Maybe I should start over again. Any ideas?
You may find this to be helpful: Step Back + Take Stock by Rawn Randall http://archive.basssessions.com/oct07/Randall.html
Hi There in Cannada.Yes I have been in touch with GK here in the UK and the USA and they say they no longer keep the 240v transformers since they stopped producing the Europien model, the only way as I have been told is to get a transformer wound to the UK specs but that is an expensive job,so the stepdown was the cheapest option, and with which it works just fine,GK said they would look around there old store room to see if there is one gathering dust,so I am still waiting for a reply, The only way the transformer could be changed was if it had 4 tags on the mains side, which it does not only 2 T hanks for your help and advice.Rich
For future reference... 20. ...sports a long list of improvements and the sad news that this well-regarded multi-media GNU/Linux distro's future is uncertain due to a lack of reciprocal support from its multitude of users. Please read GMaq's comments for details. http://www.remastersys.com/forums/index.php?topic=976.0 -------- AV Linux 4.1 now supports Wi-Fi adaptors which use the zd1211rw module. Details and a link to the newly-supported Wi-Fi adaptors: http://www.remastersys.com/forums/index.php?topic=847.0 -------- AV Linux description A Linux Distribution for Multimedia Content Creation AV Linux is a LiveDVD ISO image that is a self-contained, full-featured computer Operating System. It was created using the upcoming Debian GNU/Linux 6.0, LXDE and Remastersys. This LiveDVD ISO image can be downloaded, burned onto any DVD-R(W) and then booted and demonstrated on virtually any recent Windows PC without any effect on the existing OS. If the user desires it can be installed to the Hard Drive as Debian/GNU Linux either on it's own or "dual-boot" with an existing Windows or Linux OS. Once installed AV Linux transforms the user's computer into a full-blown Audio/Video Workstation ready to use! The User Interface features the very lightweight and efficient LXDE 0.5.0 Desktop Environment. It's well-rounded program selection covers most every common everyday computer tasks featuring a full complement of the best F/OSS Multimedia applications and Commercial software demos available allowing users to enjoy Multitrack Audio Recording and Mixing, Video Capturing, Editing and Converting, DVD Authoring and Creation, iPod Tools and much more. AV Linux also contains Hard Drive utilities making it an excellent troubleshooting and rescue solution. Custom PAE Kernel: At the heart of AV Linux is a customized i686 2.6.31.12-rt21 Linux Kernel that features "realtime" preemption, 1000hz Timer and PAE (Physical Address Extension) support. This means that even though it is a 32 bit Operating System it is not limited to 4GB of RAM, in fact it can utilize up to 64GB of RAM! This has been done in consideration of those with newer systems many of which come routinely with more than 4GB of RAM. PAE is supported by Intel Pentium Pro, Pentium 3, Pentium 4, CoreDuo and Quad Processors also by AMD Athlon, AthlonXP, X2, and Phenom Processors. **PLEASE NOTE: Many Pentium "M" mobile processors do not support PAE** **Check the manufacturers data sheet to confirm whether your CPU has PAE support** Keep an Older PC Productive: Computer Operating Systems continue to become more and more resource intensive, many times people upgrade their Operating Systems in the hope of improving their system only to be terribly disappointed when their existing hardware isn't sufficient to even run the supposed "upgrade". PC's have actually been powerful enough for Multitrack Audio and DVD Video Editing since the late 1990's but with the latest Operating Systems wasting precious CPU and RAM on superficial eye candy many potentially productive computers end up being relegated to closets, basements, garages and even worse to garbage dumps and landfills. The chilling legacy of our "disposable" societal mindset is already evident in so-called "tech dumps" in rural China and many other places intentionally well hidden from the comforts of the developed world. By combining the general efficiency of Linux and enhancing it further with a light Desktop Environment like LXDE I consider it an AV Linux mandate to keep older PC's in daily use. I've personally encounted dozens of people who truly believe it isn't possible to build a home recording studio without buying a brand new Mac or PC and spending thousands of dollars on commercial software. The AV Linux LiveDVD serves to demonstrate that this is not necessarily true . Hardware Support: In addition to supporting most onboard and common Audio Cards AV Linux also has OOTB Support for many common Pro Audio/MIDI Interfaces like M-Audio, Tascam, Echo and RME. A growing list of Firewire Audio Interfaces are also working with FFADO and FreeBOB. For Video DV Camcorders and other Firewire Video devices (Canopus) as well as many Hauppage Conexxant based Capture Cards are also supported. Develop, Build, Package: AV Linux employs the "teach a man to fish" adage. It has been created to assist users in taking the next step and moving from simply using software to building their own software updates if they so desire. If you are an experienced Linux user, packager or developer you will be at home with the large number of development libraries, compilers, build utilities and packaging helper applications available and ready to use. Obtain source code easily through GIT, SVN, BZR, and CVS. Most main applications included in AV Linux have the necessary build dependencies pre-installed for your convenience. Minimum Requirements: - Bare Minimum - Intel Pentium 3 or AMD Athlon (XP) 800mhz+, 256mb of RAM+, 12Gig HDD Partition - Recommended - Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon (XP) 1.8Ghz+, 512mb of RAM+, 40Gig HDD Partition minimum An up-to-date list of software applications included with AV Linux 4.1: http://www.bandshed.net/pdf/AV4Software.pdf
