1.
What time are you on Pete?
I think it might be an early start, around 7.30.
2. I've had my ups and downs, but I absolutely love Basschat.
3. Without wading through all the pages, whatever floats your boat, just get out there and play.
4. I remember posting clips of Tal some time ago and receiving responses that were extremely sexist, and referred to her success as being mainly a result of her alleged relationship with drummer Vinnie Colahouta. I'm struggling to uupload clips, but search her out on Youtube. She is absolutely world class.
5. Nearly Dan play the Glee Club in Nottingham on Sunday 24 March.
6. I have to agree. Most of the clips were soulless. Give me Meshell every time. She plays from the heart. Sheehan is great but it's mostly technique. Many will no doubt disagree. Bona is never tasteless. .
7. A great reader, an amazing technique, a unique sound and style, a great composer. That's why I chose Marcus.
8. You should never have to play a gig and not be paíd, regardless of whether you love playing. Think about the outlay for the instruments and the hours spent rehearsing. f*** the venue. No pay, no play.
9. Marcus Miller, Chuck Rainey, Victor Wooten, Richard Bona.
10. I absolutely hate pub/venue owners that say: 'There won't be much money, but treat it as a rehearsal.'
11. YouTube, Slave, 'Spice Of My Life'. One of the greatest funk players ever, and a killer tone.
12. An old post, but I thought some newer members might be able to shed some light on this.
13. Nearly Dan have shared a double bill with them a few times. They are excellent.
14. Nearly Dan play at the Waterfront in Belfast on Saturday 23 February.
15. I had a nightmare gig last Saturday. No lights above the stage, so my fret markers were invisible. Daft idea, but how about clipping a music stand light to the headstock? Am I crazy?
16. Just come on to this thread. To me the bassist plays for the song, whether it be one note or a hundred. I think Elvis Costello's bassist is a great example, and also the guy in Madness.
17. A great player. Love Games is one of my favourite tracks. I have a hand-written letter from him from the early 80s.
18. Earth, Wind and Fire's 'That's The Way Of The World'. Any early Cameo album.
