I once saw a programme where Prince was slapping. He is a massive fan of Larry Graham. And like most of the earlier American players, uses a thumb-heavy style rather than the percussive Mark King style. Alphabet Street is mainly thumbed.
A customer came in to our shop today and said he had been to London. He said he visited a shop off Charing Cross called the Bass Centre. I thought the Bass Centre was now an online-only store.
He said the shop didn't have the Bass Centre's logo, and was connected to another store called the Guitar Centre.
He also said there was a 1960s P-Bass fretless in there advertised at £275!!
Anyone shed some light on this?

Do you mean that you are selling the 1978 Jazz to buy a VB?

Maybe I'm going crazy?
I'm probably in the wrong thread and will get bollocked, but hey ho.
I have an amazing 1978 Jazz, all original with plates and original case and tags. I've suddenly had the urge for a now discontinue Victor Bailey bass. Am I crazy? Anyone got one?
I went to see Chic in the late 70s at The Apollo in Manchester. The band were great, but Bernard was playing a BC Rich bass with a P-Bass pickup and it sounded awful...completely boomy. It was very disappointing in that respect.
A later album called Chicism is worth checking out. Great songs, production and bass sound.

working in a music store dont you give them the answer they want to hear that will clinch the sale?!
[/quote]
I'm an honest salesman.
I know we had a thread about the Nile Rodgers programme on BBC4, but I was gobsmacked all over again by Bernard Edwards' bass parts. Those two guys have got to be the best guitar/bass rhythm section ever.

Did I say that I couldn't take the gig cos I'm out with Cheryl Cole that night??

Never mind April Fool...are you really selling that Roscoe? Are you mad!!!?
Working in a n music store, I get asked this all the time...is bass easier to pick up than guitar? Recently, I showed someone a relatively easy bass part ro a song, but she struggled with string changes.
So, what do you think?
