Hi, has anyone tabbed the bass for Hello Suzie by Amen Corner ( originally by Roy Wood ) ??

The Epi cab is a UL 310, with 3 speakers, hence the odd 5.3 ohms. I was considering getting another identical cabinet - does this halve the impedance, or is it more complicated than this ? If half, this would present 2.65 ohms, which is too low for the amp.

I have an old Crate amp, producing around 350 w into my Epi 5.3 ohm cab. The cab can take 700 w. I am happy with the sound I get from these. Can I use a power amp with the Crate to provide more power, maybe by bi-amping ?

There are lots of suggestions for recording everything together, like the Zoom H4 which sounds good, and easy. But I would like to, say, play the original song we're doing and record my bass line, then play this bass line and record a vocal track, on my own. Then when the boys come round, play this and and the guitars, etc, and record on separate tracks so we can re-do some. Different to my original query, now I almost have an idea of what I want to do. Therefore, is an 8 track, ie, Boss BR 600 suitable ?

Blimey, I thought a string was a string, as in - how long is a piece of said item. I honestly didn't realise there was so much difference in the various types and makes.

I want to start recording our practice sessions. Recorders seem to go from £100 up to £1000 +, and 8 tracks only record 2 tracks at a time. Looking for something to record 1 or 2, or 4 or more tracks at a time, and play them back and record more. Any ideas ?

Well, like 'obbm' I started with a Framus Star Bass, and I still have it, detailed in my introductions thread. Started playing in '64, and have a picture from around then when we were 15 ish. I recently met up with the guitarist, and he has given me a cd made from the reel to reel tape we recorded at the BBC in 1966. Memories. The local cinema in Slough ran gigs as well, and we got a regular spot on Saturday nights, playing to a few thousand people, which you couldn't see 'cos it was pretty dark. Amen Corner played in the same cinema, and we were in the front row. Saw Georgie Fame at Pantiles, Geno Washington at the Ricky Tick, and others like Cream, Tyranasorus Rex, Led Zepellin, Curved Air.

Well he died some years ago, age 73, but he was still playing the double bass in his late 60's. He was a great entertainer. Maybe he's taken up the harp ? Rich
