Greg Allman wrote and performed this song, but who made it popular, a long time ago ? The version I am looking for has a nice, but simple, bass line. I can't get it out of my head.

Hi, I've just bought a Source Audio Pro multiwave bass distorsion pedal, but this applies to any pedal I guess. It says to connect the bass into the pedal, then the output into the amp. But my amp, a shuttle 6, has an effects loop, in and out. Is it best to use this ? And what's the difference ? And when connected ( using the amp in and out ) the volume is much, much, louder when using the effect than when switching it off using the foot switch. I've tried twiddling the knobs, but can't get the volumes to match. Any suggestions please ( within reason )

Hi, I have recently bought a bass ( from Basschat of course ) with an Aguilar OBP 2 pre amp. I understand that it provides more output than a passive, but does it boost the output from the pickups, or does it just boost the tone controls ? Also, the wiring diagram shows a stereo jack to switch on the circuit - do I need a stereo jack on a normal mono lead, or do I need a stereo lead ? And, I want to change the stacked pot to two separate ones - where's the best place to get them, and decent knobs. Maplin do pots for 80 p, but they can't be much good ? Confused.

Well, there's just me and Wayne at the moment ( and when he's not completely stoned, he has a really good voice - but that doesn't happen very often ) I played a lot as a teenager, and not since 'till last year, but I would love to play the songs I want to play, eg, stuff by Neil Young, the Kinks, the Cure, the Automatic, Bowie, Killers, Lilly Allen, Dylan, Shaggy. A strange mix but I don't like the standards. I live near Basingstoke, have loads of gear, and a large garage to practice in. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please let me know.

Hi, I have just bought a Steinberger Spirit 5 string ( from basschat of course ) . The strings are roundwound, gauge 40 to 125 I think. But it buzzes a bit, especially on the lower strings. I guess there is not much choice of strings for this bass, but would flatwounds ( if available ) reduce the buzzing, or should I go for a different gauge ? Do lighter gauge strings need to be tighter, and would this help ?
