1. Hi, I am selling my Genz Benz shuttle 6. As new condition, only used for practising. Excellent amp, and only selling to get a shuttle 9. Link http://www.genzbenz.com/?fa=detail&mid...=610&cid=95 for details. £400 for quick sale. I live near Reading / Basingstoke, or could deliver locally up to west London.
2.
What OBBM said. How are you EQing the Shuttle? I've seen posts about how some people think they are bass lite and others who don't think that at all. You might get more punch and "oomph" out of your rig by experimenting with the various gain controls and the EQ. What music do you play? Maybe you just need to go to a 4 ohm 410?
I would rather just keep the one 310 and get a more powerfull amp, if that would work. I haven't tried the eq yet, but I will, thanks.
3.
I used to use a QSC PLX1602 in 1200-watt bridged mode to drive my UL310, then a UL502 and now its an MB F1. Any amp that has a decent power output into 4-ohms will be fine. The UL310 tends to open up the harder you drive it. As for two of them, been there done that, not necessary. Why would you want to do it apart from image. UL310 is loud. Any dual power amp head with one cab on each power stage. I used an Epi UL-902 and even tried an Ashdown LG1000. Alternatively any head that will work reliably into 2-ohms will be fine.
So would you just keep the one 310, and get a more powerfull amp ?
4. Hi, I would like some help with choosing an Amp. I have a Epifani UL 310, which is fine with my Shuttle 6 for practice. The 310 could provide 750w at its 5.3 ohms. I need more power so was thinking of geting another UL 310. But what could I use to power 2 cabs at 5.3 ohms each ? Richard
5. Hi Daryl. I'm interested. Have a look under ' general bass discussions - How Times Change ' At least I'm the right age. I'll phone you. Richard
6. Well, I talked to a local repair shop, and they said it sounds like a problem with the earth. I took it in to the shop, and it didn't make the noise, and they say that they have a good earth in their shop. Tried again at home and it does. So I tried it in a different room, on a different circuit in the house, and the noise is much, much quieter. Still there though. So it appears to be something wrong with the earth in my house ?
7. My Wife's getting worried about me learning slap. She thinks she has a hard time anyway.
8. Dave, it's the only pedal I have. What else could I try ?
9. Dave, I've been a member for a while, and not asked you before, so here goes. I have a Genz Benz shuttle 6, and have recently bought a Soundblox Pro distortion pedal. Once the GB warms up, say 5 seconds, it produces a Morse Code type noise through the speaker. This happens with the pedal connected before the amp or through the effects loop. ( with the latter, it even makes the noise with the amp on mute. ) I've tried it with a different amp ( a Marshall lead guitar combo ) and this works fine. Is it something to do with the GB digital ? power supply is has instead of a transformer ? Escholl has suggested a few things, including the power supply I am using, which is the included 2 pin with a uk adaptor. Any ideas please ? Richard
10. There is only the one pedal. It doesn't take a battery as standard, but I could possibly make up a lead to try one. The power supply I am using is the one that came with the pedal. Are you saying that the pedal should have an earth, 'cos as it's a 2 pin it doesn't ? I have other power supplies I could try - not from pedals but from other gadgets. I'll check the voltage and polarity and try one. And these all have 3 pins, ie, uk adaptors.
11.
What kind of power supply are you using for the pedal?
It's the 9V one that came with it. It's a 2 pin one with a uk adaptor.
12. Hi, I have a Genz Benz shuttle 6, and have recently bought a Soundblox pro distortion pedal. The pedal works fine with other amps, but when I use it with the GB, I get a high pitched, Morse Code type sound from the speakers. This starts after the GB warms up, 5 seconds or so, then stays on. Is it something to do with the power supply the GB has instead of a transformer ? Any ideas how to stop it ?
13.
Really nice old pics there. I wish i had some of me at that age. Very few and far between. Its brilliant you still have the old bass. Whats going to be difficult is wondering who to pass it on to when you pop your clogs. If it were mine I'd hate to think of it going to some family member who didnt care about it and flogged it as soon as they could. Theres a 1959 one going for £650 and a 60s 'Bill wyman' one going for £999 Frammus from 1959 ebay link Frammus 60s Bill Wyman
Our 2 boys both play, so hopefully they will look after it. My Dad died when he was 73, but was still playing his double bass in a band ( not on that day obviously ). He used to take the double bass strapped on the top of his Mk 1 Lotus Cortina.
14.
Sorry, but I think half of that is being generous.
It was just a comment. I wouldn't dream of selling it.
15.
That's a brilliant pic. I must say you do look a bit like my cousin in the older pic. I've seen a few old photos on forums of people in bands taken in the 60s and 70s. I can't even imagine being able to remember that far back. You've neglected to tell us which one you are in the newer photo though?
I'm on the right. Might've put on a bit of weight.
16. Well playing in the 60's when there weren't many groups around was brilliant. Lot's of free love, mild drugs ( not to be recommended of course ) and nothing mattered. Play, get home at 3 am, in a beaten-up transit, and school the next day. But maybe that was 'cos I was a bit younger. Music from then was good, and still listenable and playable now. But there is a lot of good stuff coming out now. More difficult to play, but maybe that's 'cos I'm a bit older.
17. Mine is still in really good condition, apart from some crazing to the varnish. Re-wired the pickups and changed the tuning keys at some stage. We were called the ' fourteens' ( yuk ! ) and made a demo at the BBC in 1966, and a friend gave me a copy last year. we did 4 songs - Animals etc. Used to run our own do's at the local village hall, and played at local colleges and cinemas.
18. My wife just saw my new Source Audio SA 141 Soundblox Pro bass distortion pedal, and said - what's that box with knobs on ? Do they not understand the endless possibilities of tonal variations available ?
19.
Oh What memories, what memories. Nice one. I have a picture of my then band in 1964 plus some more recent ones on my mySpace page. Sadly though I no longer have my short-scale Framus Star bass. £45 new I remember from Potters Music Shop in Aldershot. Selling it in 1967 was a serious error of judgement.
My Dad gave me mine for my 13th Birthday. Any idea what they're worth now ?
20. Me in a ' group ' in 1965, and now in a ' band ', or maybe a rabble in 2010. Still the same Framus star bass.
21. I've just fitted a new on-board pre amp, and can't get any signal out of it. I've checked the wiring, which all seams ok. Is there anything obvious I could check ?
22.
pm'd
pm'd
23.
hi mate, its standard 34" scale and fairly heavy, i cant drive so delivery is a bit tricky tbh
OK, I'll buy it, is I can get it collected. What's you address ?
24.
Boink
Hi, do you know what scale this is, and how heavy it is ? Any more info on it ? Could you deliver to Gloucester ? Richard
25.
This is my favourite version it was a top 10 hit for Paul Davidson back in 1976. Tropical records label. AL056.
That might be the one, but I can't hear the bass on this clip. Where can I get an mp3 of it ?
