1. Well, I've gawn done it. Should be here Tuesday... Bit nervy as I'm going on the strength on the demo video alone but I can always return it if it's that bad. Review to follow!
 2.
...and that sound! That sound! (given the right fingers and the right equipment of course)
This is it. I've never known a fussier bass when it comes to how it's played or what gear it's being used with. But, when you get it right...
 3. I am mere inches away from pulling the trigger on one of these..!
 4. Bump, you filthy swine.
 5.
I used it on some recordings but little point in posting any because there are so many variables, it wouldn't be any kind of definitive benchmark.
I'm sure we'd all love to hear it!
 6. Must resist... Too... Many... Strings...
 7.
Not me, mostly I use neck only and the rest of the time both pickups (for songs where I need less cut through). I find the vintage sound far too thin to use in a band setting.....also to my ears it sounds nothing like an early 70s 4001 anyway.
Another example of the variation in Ricks these days - mine nailed the 'classic' tone!
 8.
So that's still 'General Discussion: If its bass or music related ....'
Humblest apologies.
 9. Is it the pics or does the body look really off centre?
 10.
By the way, in what sense is this thread 'Off Topic' and not 'General Discussion'?
The OP thought they didn't make basses.
 11. I bloody love Geezer, bloody love him. I will therefore diplomatically withhold my views on that instrument.
 12.
Entwistle himself never considered himself as a bass player. A
He certainly did and always appeared fiercely proud of what he had achieved, both in playing style and gear developments. He always referred to himself as a 'bass guitarist' rather than a 'bassist', but that was never meant as a swipe at his chosen instrument or role. As PT said of JE after his death, "He had the power to change the f***ing instrument". And he did, but never forgot his role in the band. For all his extravagance and bravado, I can't think of a single example in the Who's recordings where he doesn't fulfil his role in the band. We were never left wanting.
 13. Now sold. Cheers for all the interest.
 14. Sophie popped by earlier and bought my fretless Jazz. Had a lovely morning talking bass and gear. Recommended BCer. Good luck with the fretless! Cheers Chuck
 15. Just sold Dave my extra-squelchy Digitech Bass Synth Wah pedal. A pleasure to deal with throughout, paid straight away and was patient when I had minor issues getting to the Post Office. Enjoy the pedal mate!
 16.
Just as well Keith Moon and John Entwhitsle found each other in that vehicle as the mess really works sometimes in the context of the Who.
Mess?!
 17. I've never seen an 8-string Spector! Apart from a modified one on YouTube. Are they on the website?
 18.
That sounds more like a kick drum than a bass.
+1 Pretty sure everyone was complaining about the general low frequencies rather than the actual bass guitar itself. A pretty common state of affairs at lots of gigs these days.
 19.
Interested in a LPB CV 50s P bass plus cash?
Tempting but I'll pass. Thanks for the offer. I might have gone for the yellow one though!
