Shall we all be adults, put the handbags down, and get back to the thread then? Yes? OK. I have a 1979 Ibanez Roadster RS800 with a good number of battle scars! Will post a picture when I can be bothered to go upstairs... too many heats to climb stairs right now!

Well... The prize for the most ridiculous overreaction goes to you sir. My comment wasn't exactly damming now was it? T'was a mere observation will no ill intent meant and I'm not sure really how you could possibly have misconstrued my comment in any fashion to warrant your rather insane ramble! Says a lot about your state of mind sir. I fear for anyone who may actually have insulted you! Jeez... some people!

@Baloney Balderdash I swear you've posted that same bass in about 600 different threads!!

The scratch plate suggests 70's Jedson to me. The machine heads and Pickup cover also look Jedson-esque. That'd be my guess! I'm sure someone with more knowledge will come along and confirm what it is.

Just to play devils advocate, this bass was made probably 3 years or so before Bass Direct sold Grossman basses, and from what I can see they are selling one Grossman basss commissioned by themselves so I'm not sure where the link is between the defect on this bass and Bass Direct unless it's just to try and get in contact with Christian through Bass Direct. I would also be surprised if after speaking to Grossman that they had anything to say about this as A: it may have been a customer request or B: it might have been sold with the defect mentioned. I would think your best bet is to speak to the seller and understand why the 'defect' wasn't mentioned or shown in the advert. Realistically, IF the bass is a quality bass in all other areas, IF it sounds and plays well and has been built well (bar this issue) then there are a number of cheap ways you can mod the bass to be 'correct' from using a dot of black nail varnish (assuming the dots are black) to make the 12th more noticeable (maybe 3 dots?) or speaking to a luthier about professionally dealing with this, perhaps the seller would refund a small amount to allow this to happen. Just a few thoughts!

They're heavy, but with excellent vocals. Interesting time signatures and great tone. Listen to the first 3 songs on 'Rise Radiant', if you like those 3 you'll like the rest!

A horse pun... how steedious.

I've recently discovered this band and dayum are they good! 'The Tide, The Thief & The Rivers End' is a spectacular album, as is 'Rise Radiant', particularly the song 'Salt'. REALLY worth a listen. Anyone else aware of these guys?

I still haven't got over that time when I threw you a birthday party, hired a petting Zoo, got a clown, hired a juggler AND a balloon artist as well as a caricature artist, a harp player and an ice cream van, and you didn't even show up... last time I do ANYTHING for you!!!

Basschat Relay - Tamworth to the south west
binky_bass replied to stewblack's topic in General Discussion
I've had two major breakages and one 'lost item' in the 10 or so years of buying and selling probably 1000+ guitars/basses. On all occasions I've been able to get my claim settled (yes it is a pain and yes it takes time). Maybe I'm lucky... But so long as you get proper insurance and you read the Terms and Conditions of said insurance and make sure you're inside of them, I can't see a courier not eventually paying out. I have had to resort to emailing the CEO of Parcel Force when they managed to loose a Spector Euro 5, but again that was sorted eventually. If you make enough noise, and you have a decent leg to stand on, you'll be fine. -

Just seems like a whole lot more risk to get X amount of people to pass a bass down the line! At least with an insured courier your covered! -

@stewblack, I have to ask... why are you not just using a courier? The risk and time of passing it from person to person, uninsured, is very likely statistically higher than paying £20 or so for an insured courier? Sorry, but I just don't get this at all! -

NOW ONLY SELLING ONE! THE ORANGE/REDDISH ONE ON THE RIGHT WITH THE GLOCKENLANG PRE-AMP - £1950. Well, what can I say about these apart from a small piece of me will die if they sell... It simply doesn't get better than a Custom De Gier Elevation 6 string bass... wait, yes it does! When there's two of them! Having spoken to Sander De Gier, these are 2 of his personal favourite builds. They are absolutely top of the line, amazingly detailed top AND back woods, matching headstock caps front and rear, set necks, incredibly comfortable necks, one with an Aguilar OPB-3 pre-amp, one with a Glockenlang pre-amp, both with custom wood enclosed Häussel Big Mag pick ups. These are fantastically light weight for a 6er, circa 4kg give or take (will weigh them, and measure spacing tomorrow). Both are 34" scale and both are 99% immaculate. Basses of this calibre would cost you around €4000 a piece from Sander today, so this is almost a buy-one-get-one-free scenario. I may entertain selling one, only if the other also finds a home, if you do some fairly complex math you'll find that half of £4000 is £2000, so that'll be the price for one. I have one custom made leather De Gier case that Sander had made for the Elevation series. This will come with the basses, I also have another high quality gig bag for the other. Fully insured postage is circa £40 a piece, I will send them in separate consignments to avoid potential damage, so shipping is £80 for the pair or collection from Basildon, Essex if you prefer. I can meet somewhere if needed for petrol. It is heartbreaking to sell these and I may end up withdrawing them. These are up there with the absolute best of basses that the world has to offer, truly remarkable things. Now, off to cry...
