1. It sounds to me like you have no idea what you want and are just listing a load of basses in your budget. You aren't going to get the answer you want on a forum.
2. I've taken 2 basses to a gig once and swapped half way just to feel like there was a point. Since then one has always been enough and I know it's solid enough that it wont go wrong. I wouldn't dare gig an active bass without a passive switch though.
3. That Brubaker felt like a log. Seemed too hefty, didn't like the satin finish either. I'd suggest a Lakland 55-01, again.
4.
It's a good price but in a buyer's market it needs to be
It's far too cheap especially with these upgrades.
5. Lakland 55-01.
6. Like anything, there is no best only personal preference. Except Dean, they are crap.
7. Stunning, although it'd be great if you could post some detailed pics.
8. Looking for a UK sale only, bump.
9. I did my Yamaha when I was drunk. Went quite well.

I had a natural one of these for a little while, very refined instrument and extremely high quality. Good price here too.
11. In theory yes, I have them on my Yamaha RBX775F but I wouldn't attribute too much to them monorails.
12. Hi all, I've had this about 18 months and this is long enough for me to realise I am not talented enough to keep up on a 6 string ! It is in reasonable condition for a 10 year old instrument with only a few dings on the back and side, the front is untouched. 35" scale with EMG-HZ pickups and an EMG BTS preamp, it is a very refined and modern sounding instrument with active tones in place. You won't be getting classic Jazz tones here, this bass would be fantastic for those looking to jump into the 6 string arena without spending a huge amount to get a great bass. The holoflash finish is amazing and needs to be seen first hand to be fully appreciated, but I hope these pictures show it as well as possible on a screen. Currently strung with R Cocco strings (steel).

14.
Ironwood is best for metal ?
Only if the Forresters make it (not the Whitehills). Anyone that gets this reference is as sad as me.
15. My Lakland bridge allows for either, and I generally don't bother with string through as it means I need extra long scale strings.
16.
Jesus Christ! You're right, that IS tragic... (your word, not mine!) I'm guessing you don't have kids..?
I have a 1 year old boy, but I work in IT.
17. I have a spreadsheet of all my past and current basses with fields for manufacturer, colour, pickup type, body wood, number of strings, country of origin and what I did with it (plus many more). I then like putting filters on the fields to see any trends. I tend to think not many people are as geeky (or tragic) as this.
18. Then go elsewhere and quit complaining. Gumtree sounds like the place for you.
19. I'd give one a go, it ticks most of the boxes I'm looking for and that neck looks VERY much like a Lakland 55-xx neck from the back, except it's 34". There's one up at BassDirect 2nd hand for £375.
20. Considering how good the woodwork seems to be, they have really ruined it with the random knob placement (teehee).
21. I agree with putting it away, then when you do play it again in a few weeks or months it may blow you away.
