2. I've never really thought about it. But I can say that my Japanese Jazz gets gigged as much as my more expensive basses.
The problem is a good Gibson will cost you twice as much as an equally good Fender.
I was in GAK at the weekend and they were asking £1100 for a MIA Standard Jazz. I thought that was a little crazy and makes Gibsons seem a little less expensive. Regardless I think the extra cost is justified in the manufacturing process. If you haven't been to Gibson.com yet, go and check out their section on manufacturing. Recently I got a Gibson Les Paul Junior for £399 new, that has to be one of the cheapest American made guitars around? I love my Thunderbird. I got it off ebay for under £800, drove to Essex to pick it up, met the guy and had a bit of a play. It was a complete impulse buy and I'd never played one before. Now, I wouldn't be without it. A lot of people comment on the neck dive which is a relevant point, but I tend have my left hand in contact with the neck when playing and this some how seems to counteract the neck dive. evilLordJuju, the bass in your sig is stunning.
 4. I bought this bass from Andertons a few years back. Apparently a guy had traded it in for a Warwick a day or two before. Since I've owned her she's seen a few gigs and been looked after well. I had her professionally set-up about 2 years ago by a chap called Graham in Washington, West Sussex. As a result the action is great and she's a joy to play. I love the colour of this bass and she's in great condition. Unfortunately I'm just not using her. I've never really got on with the neck, I learnt to play on a Jazz and the StingRay neck has always felt uncomfortably wide for my hand. I've looked over the bass really thoroughly and can only find the one ding which I have tried to take a good quality photo of. She's such a good looking bass I'm a little hesitant to sell her but it's a waste to leave her shut in the case. I want to get another active bass and another jazz so I'm looking to replace her with a USA Fender Jazz Deluxe, either in red, white or black with a rosewood fingerboard. This is the only trade I would consider. Other wise I'm looking for SOLD so I can take a punt on one of the Jazz Deluxe' that are already for sale on this forum. The strap in the case isn't included in the sale, sorry. I emailed Music Man customer service to find out the date of manufacture which is: 5/6/91. I believe it's a honey sunburst (although I could be wrong) and 2 band EQ. She came with a non-music man hard case and she'll leave in the same case. I live in the Horsham area of West Sussex and anyone is more than welcome to come and have a play. I've had carbon bicycle frames couriered to me in the past only to show up broken or cracked. Carbon's a little difficult to repair. As such I'm reluctant to post or ship the bass. I know this limits the number of people who could buy it but I am willing to travel a fair distance to met halfway. If you're interested but live quite far from Sussex send me a PM or leave a message and we'll see if we can work something out. On a separate note I will not put this on eBay. If it doesn't sell on here then I will trade her in at a music shop for what I would like. Thanks, Alex. EDIT: Quick edit for more pictures and a couple of spelling mistakes. EDIT 2: New pictures. I've been asked the same questions on a couple of occasions so I'll put a little more info here. The bass weighs 4Kg (8.8 pounds). I find it a comfortable weight for 2-3 hours but any more and I start to feel it in my shoulder. I guess I should use a wider strap to spread the load. The bass is all original, I had this confirmed when I had it set-up a while back. The case is not a MusicMan hard case but it's the one I received when I got the bass. I'm not sure if MusicMan basses came with a MusicMan branded hard case back in 91 (maybe some one on the forum knows?) so I can't say if there ever was one. The case I have for the StingRay is included in the sale. If anyone else has a question please don't hesitate to PM me or leave a message bellow. I'm still looking for SOLD so I can afford to buy one of the other basses advertised on the forum. Thanks again, Alex.
 5. My EHX Double Muff Shameless plug I know.
 6.
Yeah I think I would prefer cash than the trade Im perfectly happy to wait for you to have a go at selling it, im sure we can work something out
That's cool. Don't turn down any offers you get in the mean time as it may take a while to sell.
 7.
would certainly consider it ... you got any pics?
I've put 6 photos up on Flickr here The first two were taken last month. The rest were taken when I first bought the bass. I put them up so you can see that it is what I say it is. I had intended to try and sell my StingRay on basschat soon and planned to take some good photos this weekend. Even if you don't fancy a straight trade, and I can sell her, then I'll still be interested in your Jazz. If any of that makes sense....
 8.
Isn't that either omar's or frusciante's?
I can't remember where I've seen that picture. You could be right. No doubt Omar uses something OTT.
 9.
I stapled and glued it - glued the flat surfaces down then stapled the carpet around the edges otherwise it would have just come up, if that makes any sense?
I have an ongoing problem with taking pedals off of my board and having the velcro attached to the board coming up with it. I though I was using too much velcro on the bottom of the pedals but I've taken it all of and replaced with less.
 10.
Yeah apparently so, but I can’t see how that’s a useable gigging setup.
I bet it seemed like a great idea to begin with, but it is a little bit ridiculuos. Nice board by the way. I've been meaning to raise mine up a bit to fit my power supply underneath. Going to give it some time this weekend. Did you staple or glue the carpet to the wood?
 11.
I've completed my last pedal build for the foreseeable future... "The Compressor", basically its an orange squeezer. I have also recently built the "This Belongs in a Museum", which is a LPB.
The finish on your cover drive pedal is amazing. I want one!
 12.
this is one I made earlier… (not really)
Is that John Frusciante's board?
 13. I bought a couple of bits from Andy recently. The easiest purchase I've made online.
 14. A also bought a pedal from Ant recently. He answered all my questions and was quick to respond PM's. a great item really well packed.
 15.
I bottled selling this for a while cos I love it so much, but now I really do need some money soo.... BUMP!! All offers considerin, including trades
Would you consider a trade with with '91 Music Man Stingray 2band EQ in Honey Burst? It's in pretty much mint condition.
 16. I've had this for sale on bass chat for a few weeks. It's now on eBay here: 120402320958 No Reserve, 7 day auction etc etc....
 17. The Double Muff is now on eBay here: 120402320958 No Reserve, 7 day auction etc etc....
 18. Just wanted to say I've had one of these from new and used it for practice most weeks and gigged it at pubs and smaller venues. Never had it serviced and it still sounds amazing. Not once has it let me down. Buy with confidence. Have a bump.
 19.
EBS make them IIRC. There's a thread about connectors, varieties and suppliers thereof here.
I looked and searched for a thread about this but with no success so thanks for the link
Give Bernie Goodfellow a ring at GB guitars
Is he in Brighton..... 7 Dials area?
 20. Hi all, I'm after some straight 1/4" jack male to male connectors for squeezing my pedals together a bit tighter. I've seen a planet waves one which is staggered but I'm really after straight connectors, a little like this: That's an ernie ball one which is on stringsdirect.co.uk for £6.99. That seems a little steep for what it is but since it's the only one I can find i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction or give me an alternitive. Thanks, Alex.
 21. After getting a couple of leads for the double muff over the weekend I held off putting it on eBay. However it's still up for grabs and will be available to anyone on here till this Sunday when I will post it on eBay in the evening.
 22.
would like to have it but my funds say no atm. any chance you would be interested in part ex for Jamman ? doublemuff + cash for digitech jamman??
I'm interested in playing with a looper but not just yet..... I don't really have the cash to go your way in the exchange either, sorry.
 23. Last bump for the Double Muff which will be on eBay come Sunday evening. The White Finger is now 100% sold.
