1. I have the same amp and it's really lovely. The two preamp inputs offer a pretty wide choice... but I have one bass that is just slightly too loud for the "low" input and too quiet for the "high" one. So I was considering a tube swap to have slightly less gain in the preamp section. From what I read I guess I should only replace the two tubes on the left side, right? Still haven't dismounted the amp so don't know what tubes I'm gonna find in it.
2. Wow, it's a bargain! I'm shocked it's still here.
3. I have a cab with the CA154... used it sealed and vented (with a tweeter) and I think it's very very good for the price (€69 from Thomann). Recommended.
4. Bump! Many messages but still no takers.
5. Only used once, for maybe 15 minutes... because I prefer Ceramic pickups on fretted. Hidden magnets, shielded, wax-potted. The black plastic shells are slightly smaller than the usual P bass pickups (maybe 1mm smaller?). £45 shipped within Europe. They're new. I should also have the screws. It's a good quality pickup, not worse than high-end models made by Fralin etc. but they have 10mm magnets instead of the skinny 6,35 ones used in pairs on the original version.
6. Try to lift the cab... I'm sure its low end is ruining your work on the tone.
7. Still for sale? The picture of tubes/transformers is extremely close to what my Hiwatt Bass 100 looked like!
8. Sold locally.
9. I've owned a "Fane era" Hiwatt Bass 100 and it was extremely loud... probably louder than the SVT2 Non-pro I had in the same period. Can only guess what a beast this must be...
10. I'm a bit too far away for a live audition...
11. Wow, that was fast!
12. Waiting for pics!
13. Well, the Marshall wasn't as warm sounding as the SVT2 (non pro) I had in the same period. I liked the SVT more but the VBA had a lot more volume. So a comparison could help. The Marshall tone stack is almost useless
14. Geez, I have the funds but that's really a huge beast. How does it compare to a VBA400 if you know?
15. I've owned a Hiwatt Bass 100, a Marshall VBA400, an Ampeg SVT2 (non Pro) and a Trace VA350. I think the SVT was the best sounding of the lot but wasn't very loud. Did you have a chance to compare the GT200 to one of these? I'm not
16. Sorry for the rude question but... what does a GT200 cost nowadays?
17. I'd make it vertically aligned with the 5" on top. And sealed too, like two 210XL in one. 12mm plywood is good. I've made a vertical 410 with marine-grade Chilean Poplar plywood... it's nice and doesn't weigh a ton. In the picture the third woofer wasn't bolt-on as it was defective but Thomann promptly sent me a replacement... good guys.
18. Wow, they also have the 2100 at a nice price! Shame I already have 4 cabs.
19. I'm sure it's much easier to move than a 30kg 4x10" as you only need to drag it around... if the car trunk isn't too high from the ground it's a pretty easy task. Again, if shipping wasn't an issue it would already be in my house
20. Just put together this 4x10" with the cheapest Celestion BL100s... shame one is faulty and distorts badly. Anyway they're not bad in 150lt tuned at 40hz or so. Sound kinda "Hartkeish"
21. I don't need it. Shipping is expensive... uh, I don't find more reasons to NOT buy it!
22. I actually have 4 amps and they're not different enough to justify their presence This is the head of the famous MB150S combo, used for decades by contrabassists and jazz bassists worldwide. Very good conditions and works perfectly. 150w/4Ohm and 100/8Ohm but it's extremely loud AND the preamp section has a very sensitive input (in case you want to use it with a doublebass piezo pickup). You can buy the 12" woofer alone for €110 and make it a combo for a very good price if you want. The new price is €500. What about €300 shipped? http://www.thebassga...ails.cfm?ID=533 Please notice that the declared weight is for the combo version... the head should be 5kg. I'll attach a picture later.
