1. I've owned the same model in the same color... it's AMAZING. The best action you can immagine and a slap to die for. I'll always regret the fact I was so nut to trade it with a 6er
2.
Thanks for that John. Everything about this bass is quality. Come on peeps, what ya got? BTW John, the Shuker looks the dog's danglies!!
Nice bass! Anyway it's pretty clear that the body wood is Ash, not Alder. I bet it sounds amazing (like all Status do).
3. Hello! I need to get rid of this nice puppy, I have other basses and I need a new cab and hardware for the basses I'm working on... It's a nice '57 Reissue Precision bass made in Japan, probably in 90s. It's very light and resonant. I don't know if the body is Alder or Basswood, anyway it was refinished in (I guess) Sonic Blue or Baby Blue... don't know how this color is called by Fender. The neck is one piece of Maple. Frets, truss-rod, electronics and pickup work fine. Threaded saddles bridge, pearloid pickguard. Can sell it with or without a case, it's your choice. £300 shipped to Europe. I can take PayPal (verified) and have feedbacks here for selling all my old vintage stuff (a couple of Jazz and a P-bass) - I also bought some basses as well I'll take some decent pics asap so if you're interested just drop me a line. I offer a 24hours approval period and you'll have a full refund minus shipping. But I doubt anyone would return such a good bass, really.
4. Good points. But you all should keep in mind that there aren't two wood pieces with the same "character". This is why instruments always tend to sound differently, even if you A/B two examples of the same model. The neck is the most important factor. Body wood affects tone far less than that. But I can't justify factories using such a cheap stuff. I mean: there's for sure some resonant piece of Agathis out there... but decent wood isn't that expensive, I know it for sure. So they could use Alder or Mahogany without mortgaging their asses
5. Oh, I forgot to add that as a "newbie" luthier I'm a bit amazed from the quality of Fender routings. They really suck. I hope that Sadowsky, Mike Lull and all the guys that offer reissues of the good ol' Jazz bass don't try to make them just like the original ones! Not trying to offend vintage stuff, just being honest. I had an offer for the body only but the guy didn't accept (and I'm according with him).
6. It's a '74. Anyway, Beedster, the seller is only one and one is the bass as well... I posted it twice for an error, my fault! I'm offering this bass for sale after I checked it and used it for a rehearsal. It's a nice bass, really no bad surprises here. I've sold my '74 for a way higher price but mine was 100% stock and in mint conditions while this one has the usual finish cracking on body etc. Anyway the guy isn't out of country but he's away for work (at about 400km from home) and doesn't know anything about forums... he doesn't even have a computer. I don't have problems offering a return policy 'cause, as I said, the bass doesn't have issues.
7. Considering offers. Strange, when I had to sell mine I sold it in a week and it was way more expensive than this one.
8. He doesn't have a computer and practically knows nothing about shipping etc. He played bass for about 12 years but now he's away for work and needs the money... pretty easy explanation
9. Awesome looking bass, really. Congrats to the builder and to the new owner!
10. Price lowered: £1150!
11. Yes, sorry for the crappy slang Anyway I like that bass. Still fighting against myself but high shipping costs still brake me.
12.
I have an electro which I like hugely but which I may need to sell on to part finance a new custom built Roscoe four string I've got in the pipeline. I have a few theatre type "production" shows coming up in late September and I think my Electro will be perfect for a few of those numbers so I plan on keeping it until afterwards but keep in touch coz it's almost certain that I'll want to let it go after that. Edit: Just read your post in context of whole thread - hope that you manage to arrange to get Steve's. Not trying to gazump him or highjack his thread. Apologies if I gave that impression. cheers scoop.
Don't worry, I didn't see your post as a try to hijack the 3d. Maybe Steve will kill you, anyway
13. The single-cut on right is my first prototype. Alder body, Maple neck and unlined Wengé fingerboard with flat radius. It's 34" with about 28 "frets", a single Yamaha humbucker in bridge position. Don't know why, but it sounds awesome.
14. I always wanted to try an Electro... it's a shame I'll probably never see one around if I don't buy it. Oh well, it's pretty much what happens with every decent axe available on the market. Steve, waiting for a shipping quote!
15. Up for grabs the molded case American Standard Fender basses usually come with. Pretty good conditions, latches work but I don't remember if there's a key for them... £50+shipping (and this could be an issue since I'm not in UK).
16.
Mmmm...1200 - the year of my birth too
LOL!
17. Bass has been sold. Thanx for looking.
18. I'm literally fighting against myself to NOT buy the bass, really.
19. Bass sold. Thanx.
20. Hello! What's the best cash price you could accept?
21. Here are the pics. Sorry for the long waiting... By the way I'm based in Italy but shipping price is fair, about £30 or so. About the basses: the BBN is a great main instrument. It's solid, reliable and sounds very good for the price. The neck is steady and the action is low without problems. The piccolo bass is basically a custom 32" bass with piccolo strings. It can be strung standard if so desired. It's very woody sounding and bright. The finish is a bit on the rough side but at this price is a steal. Both basses come without case, I can ship them as they are or dismounted. Cases available upon request.
22. Sorry mates but I'm still ultra-busy... please be patient!
23. Hello! Please give me 24 hours and I'll try to post them asap
24. Hello! I need to get rid of these axes as I have too many puppies around... The first one is a hand made piccolo bass strung with new LaBella. It's 32" with Ovangkol/Maple neck and Wengé fingerboard. The body is Maple/Zebrawood, has EMG pickups and black brass hardware. The second one is a Yamaha BBN5 in Walnut finish. You know the bass, it sounds extremely good for the price. The Low B sounds amazing. £200 for the piccolo, £100 for the BBN. Pics asap. I can add a Yamaha hard case for extra money.
25.
BEEP!
Just bought a bass from Bigwan... it was just as described, the shipping was fast and the package was sturdy. Great guy to deal with, really. Thanx a lot!
